  1. Does anyone have any good resources for teaching prime factorisation? We seem to be stuck on this concept. Thanks :)
  2. I'm in Western Australia. I know quite a few people who have been cruising, none with kids. The people I know have cruised out of Singapore or Sydney. They were round trips returning to the starting port, 10 or 14 nights. DHs parents did the trans Atlantic (england to US) cruise but they are retired. If you want your kids to meet Aussie kids, come to Australia :)
  3. I have no idea what you are talking about! I'm 30 and always lived in Australia.
  4. My son born at 25w has been in EI since birth. I would encourage you to bring his hands together to his mouth at every nappy change just holding his hands and bringing them in so he can suck and look at them. Swaddle him for sleeping with his hands up by his mouth. Encourage play on his side bringing his hands up to his face together. With the tummy time roll a blanket up to put under his chest and under arms bringing his arms forward like to rest on his elbows to take some pressure of his tummy. You can also do that over your knee. Sit him up in your knee and gently and slowly move him side to side, back and forward so that he has to continually adjust his head position. As a PP said getting a PT evaluation would be good. We started with PT and have only added other therapies as he's gotten bigger.
  5. Breastfed all 4. 3 went in their rooms and only coslept when sick or very unsettled so hardly ever. 1 slept in our room in his own bed for 2 years and again only coslept when sick or very unsettled which was occasionally.
  6. Was just thinking the same thing. Midnight for the class I was looking at for Flossy :(
  7. Kate rib deformities are common in perms. They don't have the right muscles to hold their ribs in the correct position, especially micro-prems. Often the lower part of the rib cage will flare out owing to ventilation, it does for Possum on one side. I was told by PT that this would resolve has his muscles strengthened and that is certainly wouldn't cause any problems. The heart surgery is called a PDA ligation, Possum had this too. They do go between the ribs to access the heart and it can cause the kind of deformity you describe. Again i was told there would be no future problems. As he grows the should straighten and go into the correct position although he is still to little to see any difference yet. For the teeth a good paed dentist will most likely do the work under a GA. What an awful time for your family.
  8. Thankyou :) I didn't see the post earlier in the week, i will check i out .
  9. Anyone doing a unit study on the London Olympics or Olympic Games in general? I'm looking for book suggestions please. Would also love links to any printables you've found. I'm not a unit study kind of person but figured i couldn't pass this one up as i love the Olympics, so i need your help unit study Mummas :)
  10. My heart goes out to them. Possum had pulmonary hypertension at 6m old. Thankfully it was a secondary condition and once they fixed his primary problem the pulmonary hypertension resolved. It is truly awful to watch them struggle that much. Keeping Molly in my thoughts.
  11. Not in Coles, Wollies or IGA. Guess i could ask if they plan on getting some in, or could they order them for me. Might just be easier to have tetra packs on hand though!
  12. It would work if i could find fresh coconuts for sale :) I will have to take a trip to the fruit & veggie market and see if they have any because none of our local shops do.
  13. I can get coconut water in the cold section for $6 a bottle. It is much cheaper however off the shelf in tetra packs. My friend suggested that the shelf stuff was heat treated and perhaps lacked the nutrients the cold one has. Anyone know anything about the extraction and treatment process of coconut water? I can't seem to find any information when i google
  14. Thankyou :) I've got dates, real maple syrup, coconut sugar, raw sugar and honey (rapadura ordered) so plenty of options :). I'm not so worried about the calories to be honest. She was just sure there was a nutritional benefit and I was scratching my head trying to see it. Thanks :)
  15. A friend was telling me i should be using rice malt as a sweetener instead of sugar in things like smoothies. I'd never heard of it before. She claims it has more nutritional benefit than raw sugar. I'm all for making the 'healthier' choice so what does the hive have to say? Is rice malt a healthier alternative to raw sugar? Do you know why?
  16. Have not read all the other responses. When we last moved house i organised for our grocery delivery to arrive the morning after the move at 8am so that all we had to worry about was dinner the night we arrived. All the fresh fruit, milk, cereal etc arrived at 8am and we filled the fridge and pantry. It was the best thing we have ever done and we have moved LOTS. Also have an essentials box with toilet paper, tea, coffee, knives, forks, plates & cups so that when you get there you find the essentials box and you have some things to start off without having to madly unpack everything!
  17. Jasper came home on Wednesday. We have to keep him confined so he is spending his days in his crate. He is desperate to play with Indy, or other whippet and she is missing him terribly! He's doing very well although the true test will be today as he has now finished his course of pain killers and only has anti inflamitories for a couple more days. So far he has been fine to walk on lead around the yard. He is using his leg although not putting full weight on it. We are back to the vet for post surgery check up this week and hopefully they will give the all clear for a little more activity, perhaps some free time in the yard? Not sure what the next step is. So far so good :)
  18. Flossy age 7 has been having awful trouble falling asleep at night. She has a very active brain and can't seem to relax. She gets herself all worked up and in tears and it's awful! What doesn't help is that i have to wait up until she falls asleep before i can go to bed because she is anxious about that too! Hoping the hive can help with some guided meditations for children. I'd love an audio download from iTunes because it's something i can get today and use tonight but i will take any recommendation you've got for me because things have to change!
  19. My son has had cardiac surgery for a PDA. He also has a PFO or ASD depending which Dr reads the echo. It is such a small hole that they will not do anything about it surgically. It is very common to leave very small holes because such a large percentage of the population actually have them. Often it is because the flap that closes over when the baby is born doesn't seal exactly or is t the perfect size. Incidentally a large percentage of people also have slightly leaky tricuspid valves, my son has one too but it's in the 'regular' leakage range so they won't do anything about that either. Don't stress, but certainly have it clarified when you can.
