  1. And this is not limited to sports! When I was looking for a pediatric dentist, I was shocked at how many offices had a policy of not allowing parents to accompany children during treatment. How often have parents trusted some "expert", only for that person to abuse his/her position?
  2. Huh? No, she didn't. Here is a link to the sentencing transcript: http://fortune.com/2018/01/24/judge-transcript-sentence-larry-nassar/
  3. You're right. They are not synonymous. BUT she didn't literally sign a death warrant. Using my reading comprehension skills, I found the implication clear by the fact that she kept focusing on the extreme amount of time that he was being sentenced to. She didn't just leave it at years, but took the time to explicitly break it down into months of imprisonment. It was an emphasis that he will die in prison due to her sentencing. it was a phrase that drives home the point that he will die in prison. I think most people would recognize that she did not literally sign a death warrant nor give a wink to the inmates. If she would have said that comment without a big lead up, without the emphasis on time in prison, without pointing out the 40 years on top of the 60, I think I could see an argument for what you're trying to say. But that's not what happened. It almost seems as if you want to purposefully take the phrase out of context to further your own agenda. But many other women have tried pointing all this out to you. I am foolish for thinking anything I said here might make help you to see from a different perspective.
  4. Transcript from the judge: Somehow you're getting the "I've just signed your death warrant" phrase is a wink and a nod to inmates, and not the idea that he will die in prison because of the 175 years/2,100 months? And then you're telling everyone how we don't have reading comprehension??!
  5. Huh? Not the prison sentence, but making him listen to the victims' statements? THAT was justice in your eyes?
  6. Quotes Q: Harry - yer a wizard! A: Who is Hagrid? Q: Always. A: Who is Snape? Q: I hope you're pleased with yourselves. We could have all been killed - or worse, expelled! A: Who is Hermione? Q: Of all the trees we could have hit, we had to get one that hits back. A: Who is Ron? Q: Not to be rude or anything, but this isn't really a great time for me to have a House Elf in my bedroom. A: Who is Harry?
  7. Quidditch Q: Catching the snitch is worth this many points. A: What is 150? Q: The record for the longest Quidditch match is this long. A: What is 3 months? Q: This red ball is the main object of play in a Quidditch match. A: What is a quaffle? Q: This iron ball gets its name from the German word "blut" for blood. A: What is a bludger? Q: This defensive position has similarities to soccer goalies and hockey goaltenders. A: What is a keeper?
  8. The 100 Year Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared. I haven't read it yet, but it was recommended to me after I told someone I loved A Man Called Ove. If you have Amazon Prime, it's currently free to stream on Audible right now.
  9. For my goal planning, I'm using PowerSheets this year. Loving it so far (this is my 3rd month using it). While I do refer to this daily, it's not a calendar. It's strictly for goal and productivity planning. For my daily planning, I'm using a Day Designer 18-month from last year. They changed the format this year (grrr), but I'll still buy a new one when this one is used up. It has a space for daily gratitude, but not enough room if you wanted to write more than a sentence or two. I jot down only a few words or a short phrase.
  10. Thank you for doing this! Like so many others, I wrote these down as you posted them (although I never posted here). My family would discuss each one over dinner. Made for a fun December review.
  11. I completely agree on the first one. Second one, nope. Not buying it. ***sticking my fingers in my ears*** There's gotta be something there between them. I'm willing it so. And for some reason that reminded me that I really wanted the code breaker to be Lando. Whatever happened to him. I know we're supposed to get spin-offs for Lando and Hans. Maybe we'll see if he shows back up.
  12. Yes, oh yes Lady Marmalade and Monica in Switzerland to all your spoilers about Kylo and Rey!
  13. I really liked TFA, but did not care for TLJ near as much. On the other hand, my DH had the opposite reaction. He loved this movie. My spoiler thoughts: I don't like the Finn and Rose story at all. It seemed like filler and totally unnecessary. I think Finn should have become the new Hans-like character, not the Benicio del Toro guy. Hated Laura Dern's character. Her power-tripping behavior killed hundreds of people. She is not a hero for staying behind. They didn't need to introduce this character when they had so many older characters (that they eventually killed) that could make the sacrifice to stay behind and pilot the ship. Also, all the other ships have autopilot except for that one? Snoke says he caused the connection between Rey and Kylo, but if memory serves me correctly, didn't Rey and Kylo have a shared connection after Snoke was dead. It was when Rey was rescuing everyone at the back of the cave? If so, then they have a connection that is not caused by Snoke, but by some other method. I like the parentage link. I really wanted (and still want) Rey to be Luke's daughter. That would make Rey and Kylo cousins and explain the link between them. Loved Luke's exit. So reminiscent of Obi-wan. My only nitpick is that I wish they would have had him doing the disappearing thing during the fight, not after he stopped and thought about it for a little while. The little boy at the end force grabbing the broom was cute. I heard someone say that this is how the Star Wars and Harry Potter worlds are linked, and I just like that thought in my head. :) Overall, this left so many questions for me. It doesn't feel like the Last Jedi at all. I wanted some closure while still paving the way for the Star Wars world to continue.
  14. Oh my, yes, Mental MultiVitamin! I loved her blog! I hope she is doing well.
  15. I'll link to Quiver's Cinnamon Rolls, post #6. Sooo good.

  17. You've gotten lots of advice on the lotions, so I'll recommend taking a good Omega 3 vitamin and dry brushing for exfoliation.
  18. My DH really likes Lagavulin, but I don't know if you can get anything in the $40 range because I'm not familiar with their different offerings.
  19. I understand how frustrating it can be to have the gym crowded and your favorite machines occupied, but I don't begrudge anyone trying to get in better health, no matter what time of year.

  21. This thread reminds me of the Mental Floss article on Why No One Wanted A&Ws Third-Pound Burger. Hint: Americans are bad at fractions. To answer your question, I see nothing wrong with the way you worded it. Third-pound, third of a pound, whatever. It's obvious to me, and I believe it should be obvious to anyone else. I wouldn't tell the manager. I'd tell the clerk if I was feeling in the right mood. But let's be honest, I'd probably not say anything, walk away with my 3/4 pound of deli meat, inwardly roll my eyes, and get out of the supermarket as fast as possible. In full disclosure, I'm currently on an I-despise-the-people-who-work-in-my-grocery-store kick right now.
  22. Yes! It's already been renewed for a second season, too!
  23. My kids said they tasted like Fruit Loops. I don't think my kids like them much because we have quite a few left and normally my kids could polish off an entire pack in one day.
  24. Came in to add my Microplane Rasp Grater. :thumbs up:
