  1. Mine came last week and has already been paged through multiple times.... I want everything!
  2. Books! Seriously, I have tried to give some very specific hints about titles. Also, perfume, warm socks, hand lotion, some gardening tools, yarn, wine, tea, dark chocolate........ DH always has trouble shopping for me and I think I'm so easy to shop for. :D
  3. Pork with red and yellow peppers, grape tomatoes, and rosemary. Probably with risotto. Frosted cookies for dessert.
  4. I found some at Barnes and Noble a couple of months ago and bought them for stocking stuffers. I have no intention of eating them myself!
  5. You could have photo mugs made with family pictures, then get some nice coffee/cocoa type things to go with them.
  6. We are doing a lot of the things already mentioned. DS is really into Schleich knights right now, so this year he's getting more knights, a dragon, and a castle.
  7. Just this week I had a UPS delivery from Amazon show up online as delivered to my porch at a certain time. and it was nowhere to be found..... And my porch is enclosed and was locked at the time. Five hours later the UPS truck rumbled down the street and the driver had no clue what I was talking about when I told him it had already been reported delivered. I was really anxious because I had an order go completely missing between Amazon's warehouse and UPS a few weeks ago, and it took nearly two weeks to get everything resolved. That was the week of Hurricane Sandy, so they weren't automatically resending lost items until things settled down.
  8. There are some Curious George story collections that are perfect for boys or girls that age.
  9. :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug: My sister's kids both share the same genetic disease that has caused them to have growth hormone deficiencies leading to bone and organ issues (twisted limbs, heart and liver abnormalities, pulmonary issues from lungs far too large for the rib cage). We have a family member who insists that if they ate a whole foods diet they could drop the hormone supplements they are obviously using just so they "don't have short kids." My poor sister. I know people mean well, but they don't think these things through.
  10. Dh made this argument, and I am glad I listened -- we find plenty of people and activities to keep us engaged without using a screening tool with a membership fee attached.
  11. I had to give up my DL many years ago due to deteriorating vision issues -- severe photosensitivity and lack of depth perception -- that could not be corrected with glasses. I had no need to get state-issued ID until after 9/11 -- I couldn't even ride Amtrak without ID.
  12. I usually have tuna or scramble some eggs when I'm in that situation. I will also just microwave a potato, then top with tuna and some cheese. I find that surprisingly tasty, especially if I have any interesting leftovers to add on top.
  13. Nachos! One tray mild, one topped with jalapenos. Spicy turkey and tomato topping to scoop over them, plus sour cream. Assorted types of fresh fruit on the side.
  14. It is always just us for Thanksgiving. I actually like it this way -- we have invited a couple of people in the past, and traveled to family when the dc were smaller, but this is just easier. I spend all day Wednesday cooking, Thursday we get up and watch the parade, then I spend several more hours cooking, and then we eat an absurd amount of my favorite foods. The menu has gotten pretty inflexible as the kids have gotten old enough to have favorites, too, and now they help out with more of the cooking. It is nice to have a fridge bursting with leftovers and no traveling to do once the big meal is over. Most importantly (if you ask the kids), I allow pie as a breakfast food in the days following Thanksgiving.:D
  15. My dd has several. She likes them, but doesn't play with them -- she just collects the ones from her favorite AG books. I don't know that they would be much fun to play with.
  16. Last year I developed an addiction to having fun size Butterfingers with my coffee. This year, my kids got zero Butterfingers! I have errands to run today, and I am seriously considering picking up some discounted Halloween candy just for me.
  17. I just popped on to mention this, but you beat me to it.:D
  18. Simpler models snap together and don't require glue -- that might work for the 5yo. Floor puzzles to do together could be good for the 3yo.
  19. DS was 5 when we first got ours and they were an instant hit with him.
