  1. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0761160965/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER this is a whole series....math, science, English, World and US History, If you have seen these...what are your opinions about them? How could they be used?
  2. probably not that...because my phone doesn't have unlimited data...but rather...can't you buy a gizmo that is a "hot spot"?
  3. how a hotspot works? Is it something that would make sense to use once...like while we are camping...do you pay only for when you use it...or whether you use it or not? thanks.
  4. we bought them through our insurance company and because they are different models I would think a bad batch wouldn't have effected BOTH trackers...or am I wrong on that.
  5. Both my husband and I bought Fitbits in late January. About 3 weeks ago, my husband's Charge 2 stopped charging. So, after doing the trouble shooting steps we contacted Fitbit and the replaced it. 2 nights ago I went to bed with my fully functioning Alta Fitbit and woke up to a dead Alta Fitbit. So again, after going through the trouble shooting steps, I contacted Fitbit and they are going to replace it. This is all well and good as long as our trackers are under warranty....but after that, we are on our own. So my question is, is our situation unique...or do others have problems with this too. I am a bit frustrated with this...these were not cheap and we like them. When it happened to my husband, I didn't think much of it...technology fails once in a while...but when BOTH of our trackers died and the fact that we just got them a couple months ago...I am now a bit skeptical of the quality of these things. what has been your experience?
  6. what if it's not a digital download and it's just books and CDs and the books aren't damaged I just changed my mind? I don't plan on changing my mind, but I want to know up front the whole deal.
  7. I can't seem to find out anywhere on the website...can I return an item I buy from them...or is that not possible? Thanks.
  8. I would also like to know more about how you would use these...are they just for middle school?
  9. Looking to see what options there might be for fairly independent world history for an 8th grader. I have looked at Notgrass...and it looks good..but sort of expensive....what else have you all used?? thanks.
  10. I set up my kids under my account...and I can log into my sons account on my computer, but when I go to do it on his computer, it won't let me....it tells me that the username or password is wrong. Why is that? When I go back to my computer and do it just like I do on his computer, I can log in, no problem. can anybody help us figure this out? thanks.
  11. hmmmm. well, I probably wouldn't use them for biology...but the more liberal side of the history might be concerning too. thanks.
  12. thank you for this. Do you know is there anyway to get the 10 week courses videos quicker than once a week? I don't want to use them as a course...but rather as a review... wonder what the best order would be for these wish I knew about these last year at this time. They do look good. thanks.
  13. has anybody here used this as part of their studies. My question is, do the history videos tend to have a certain political slant and do the science ones teach evolution or are they neutral? Did your kids like these? They certainly look interesting. thanks...just looking for some reviews.
  14. wow...does that guy on crash course talk REALLY fast...does that both your kids?? Also is there any sort of political slant that I need to be aware of with these videos? thanks.
  15. I haven't used or seen Crash Course, although I have heard of them. I am not looking for anything to make a HS credit...but just to sort of add to the Notgrass with the hopes that a video might help them remember what we have read...I will check out crash course...thanks.
  16. she does use those....any ideas as to what sort of projects she might do...other than just dotting a paper plate...or a piece of construction paper..she has done those things.... oh the craft needs to last about 15 minutes...she is at the daycare for about 30 minutes...so 15 for the story and 15 for the craft....
  17. My daughter goes to a local daycare twice a week to read a book and do a craft with the kids....(about six 1-2 year olds...mostly 2) and she is running out of ideas to do with them. According to her, their ability is limited (as it is with 1-2 year olds) and they can basically put stickers on paper, use paint dotters and sort of glue tissue paper to a paper plate, put fruit loops on a pipe cleaner....which she has done multiple times in various ways. Pinterest has been our best friend but even that is now letting us down. For craft supplies she has tissue paper squares, self adhesive googly eyes, foam geometric shapes, construction paper, paper plates, pipe cleaners, cotton balls, pom poms, stickers of all sorts and washable markers. She says paint doesn't work well at all...and either does glue...even glue sticks...they eat it, they press too hard and ruins the glue sticks, they touch everything with pained fingers, brushes, etc. Of course she tries to match the craft with a book, which usually works...but not always. She has done shaving cream inside a zippered bag with colored dye. She has made many animals out of paper plates. Decorated paper mittens and snowmen. Stung a pipe cleaner with fruit loops and made them into a worm for the Hungry Caterpiller. Made cookies and muffins and doughnuts for if you give a______ a _______ (moose a muffin etc). She has repeated techniques multiple times....but we are just sort of in a rut... any ideas for us? thanks.
  18. We are currently doing Notgrass Government...and the kids are finding it pretty dry and boring...and I am not sure if they are remembering much so I thought I would use a great course to end the year...as a way to recap what they learned...thanks. I contacted Great Courses for suggestions...here is what they suggested...which one(s) would you use? Hello, Thank you for contacting us. We have many courses that cover US government from one angle or another, depending on what you are looking for. Cycles of American Political Thought would be a great choice if you are looking for a history of politics in the United States. History of the United States, 2nd Edition would be a good choice if you want a very in depth history on the United States. American Mind is a good choice if you are more generally interested in the way Americans think. American Ideals: Founding a “Republic of Virtue†is a good choice if you want to learn more about the founding of the country. Conservative Tradition is a good choice if you are specifically interested in changes in the Conservative movement in the United States throughout history. History of the Supreme Court is a good choice if you are specifically interested in the development of the Supreme Court. Please let me know if I can help you with anything else. 19. great...thanks. now, does anybody know how to add my one child's account (under my one other email address) to the list with my 2 other kids, without losing her status? Or is that just impossible.
  20. can you please tell me exactly how to do that? thanks.
  21. I am trying to sign up more than one kid on Khan...but they don't have email addresses and my first kid used my address...how do I do that? I am sure there has to be a way, I just don't know what it is. thanks.
  22. thank you so much for these. Are there any that talk about Government? We are doing Nortgrass government, but I am not really sure how much my kids are actually learning...so i thought if I could find something (even if it's not Great Courses) that they could watch that might solidify what they read in their book....that would be great. Keep the ideas coming....thanks.
  23. have you used for US History, World History and Government? And did your kids like them and find them useful? thanks.
  24. I am thinking about doing Cultural Geography with my 8th grader next year. I would like to know what my options are: I know about BJU (but it's for 9th graders and I think the text is too hard for my kid). I also looked at MFW....but unless I am missing something, there is no student text and the teacher's guide is $125? (what is in that thing??...must be quite the book for that money). But those are the only 2. You guys are always so awesome in finding the hidden gems...what else is out there? thanks.
