  1. Is there a way to get a discount on a subscription to Brainpop?
  2. Yes, we love it too! We are going to stick with it, but for my dd6 we are going to slow down CLE and do MUS Alpha (I think :-))to make sure she really gets place value.
  3. Thank you so much! You are right about everything. I'm really not feeling good about dropping CLE to make a complete switch to MUS. I guess I could just keep the manipulatives and try to use them more with CLE?
  4. Thanks for sharing your experiences. Is there anyone that likes MUS better than CLE?
  5. Thank you! That helps. :001_smile: Anyone else?
  6. Help me decide! Have any of you used both? What are your opinions? We have used CLE for 5 years, but it might be a little advanced for my young 1st grader. I'm so confused!
  7. My dd6 is having trouble understanding that, for example, 43 is larger than 21. For her facts, she is counting on her hands. I actually called MUS today and spoke with someone for a while. I was really impressed. I ordered Gamma, Beta, and Alpha to take a look at. All of it. The teacher kit, student kit, and blocks. I might try it out, but keep going with CLE until I make a decision. Did you switch from MUS to CLE?
  8. I use CLE with dd10, ds7, and dd6. I was considering supplementing with MUS for dd6 and possibly ds7. Have any of you done this? Could we just watch the videos since our main program is CLE? My dd6 just turned 6 in August and is in CLE 102. She just seems to be struggling a little bit more than my dd10 and ds7 did at this point (but is also a very young 1st grader). What would you do? Would you supplement with MUS or maybe MM?
  9. Thanks, guys! It helps to know I'm not the only one that does it that way.
  10. We use CLE for math for dd10, ds7, and dd6. I have been using xtramath.org to drill math facts rather than the flashcards and timed drills. Do you think that's ok? It's so much easier because I have 3 students I'm teaching and a 2-year-old getting into everything!:001_smile:
  11. I will either be using Apologia or God's Design for science. I'm still trying to decide. How long is it supposed to take to complete a lesson in Apologia? Do you complete 1 Apologia book a year or more?
  12. I was just curious what you guys were using to go along with cycle 1? Are you using a separate history and science curriculum this year or planning around the memory work? This is our first time through cycle 1.
  13. Thank you! Do your kids do it completely independently or are their things you go over with them?
  14. Thanks!! Would you purchase R&S Spelling 5 or 6 for a 5th grader?
  15. I'm curious. I'm not sure what I'm doing next year for my 5th grader.
  16. I have decided I am going to stick with it. Thanks for the encouragement! I think sometimes I just get nervous because I've branched out and am trying something different than what I did with my first. Did you go back and do a lot of reviewing with OPGTR?
  17. Thank you so much!! BTW, I checked out your blog and loved it! I love the name of it! My husband and I met on a mission trip.
  18. That is what drove me crazy about Abeka, because we only used it for phonics. I would absolutely love to check that out on your blog! Thank you!! Was it the clue word cards that you lined up?
  19. Thank you!! I wouldn't do all the written work that I made my dd10 do with Abeka. It was too much! I guess I could continue on with OPGTR and also use just the flashcards and Handbook for Reading from Abeka. How do you use the flashcards with OPGTR? So that they go along with OPGTR or in the order Abeka suggests? Just curious. :001_smile:
