  1. Have you actually tried giving them a call? It wouldn't hurt to try. If you have already called and inquired, call again! If the agent you speak with is not able to accommodate you, ask to speak with a supervisor. :tongue_smilie: I am always ridiculously folksy and friendly on the phone (and not opposed to begging) in situations such as this. My sister booked a timeshare in CO and their plans changed at the last minute and they were able to swap to another locale at a future date. I would venture to say that your current reservation would re-book in a flash if it is in prime eclipse viewing territory....be sure to point this out to the reservation agent. Someone out there is no doubt checking non stop hoping for a last minute cancellation! Let us know if you have any luck! I hope you all recover quickly... :grouphug:
  2. Hey Girl... :hurray: What kind of wooden floor did you discover? Hardwood or plywood? That is the question... Let us know!
  3. YUM! Thank you for sharing this. Well, this certainly just rearranged my day!
  4. I hereby nominate Rosie as a top contender for "The Most Quotable WTMer" currently actively posting! Utterly hilarious. As usual! Rosie happily reminds me of a former poster with a fondness for pith, rum, and donkey carts! All good stuff!
  5. Oh Suzanne, You have been on this board forever! :tongue_smilie: What a happy update and how absolutely wonderful for all involved. All I can say from reading your posts for years, is that "someone" is a very lucky 16 year old Japanese exchange student! How exciting!!
  6. I agree re: an auxillary cooler. Perhaps this is the time to look into one of those super duper heavily insulated coolers (think Yetti) that will keep things cold for 5-7 days... :confused1: Good luck!
  7. Oh.My.Word. Utterly adorable and beautifully cut as well. You look darling and very chic... Love it!!
  8. You've been wanting (and waiting) to do this! Have fun!!
  9. Love changes lives... Literally. They were meant for each other! :001_wub: :001_wub: :001_wub:
  10. Gorgeous! Twice the fun! So nice of you to take them both!!
  11. Dear Lizzie, Please quit playing with the puppy and post an update! :P And maybe another picture... :001_wub: How are they doing? So sweet. Thinking of you guys and really glad it's not a pony! :svengo:
  12. No words. Just joy. For ALL! Lovely, Lizzie, simply lovely. :001_wub: :001_wub: :001_wub:
  13. OK...a few more ideas: Hawaiian Chicken Kabobs (marinated teriyaki chicken, green pepper, red onion, pineapple chunks) grilled on skewers. Fun for the kids. Serve with rice and fresh fruit and maybe some of your yummy garden vegetables Pre-made (and frozen) shredded pork or chicken. Serve on toasted buns with the usual sandwich side items. Corn on the cob goes well with hot sandwiches. *If possible pack a large crock pot to take with you. It could come in very handy, if only for reheating items.* Bake a ham on site. Serve with scalloped potatoes and a vegetable or two of your choice. You might have leftovers for sandwiches. Italian Night. Fettucini with alfredo sauce, or linguini, four cheese ravioli, or a hearty vegetarian lasagna (you mentioned no red meat) or any pasta with a sauce other than red. Serve with crusty bread, fruit, and maybe sauteed fresh green beans. Tex Mex Night. Serve the meat of your choice sliced with your choice of: warm tortillas, beans, grilled caramelized onions, cheese, rice, lettuce, tomatoes, salsa, sour cream, guacamole. Fresh fruit wedges and chips and salsa round this out. A pan of chicken enchiladas would also go well Marinated pork tenderloin (or two) bake it in the oven. A simple homemade cherry sauce adds some sparkle to this dish. A fresh fruit salad and any green veg and warm bread. Yum! Need more ideas? :coolgleamA: Any night you grill, have the fixings for roasted marshmallows with or without Hershey bars and graham crackers.
  14. Quick questions: We can really help you brainstorm if you add a few more details... :lurk5: How many adults, how many kiddos? How long will you be at the beach? Are you considering all meals or just dinners? Will you have access to a grill and if so, how large is it? Do you (or anyone else) enjoy grilling? One of my go to meals at a beach cottage is grilled chicken breasts. So incredibly versatile! They can be served as a stand alone meat with or without an accompanying sauce (balsamic, bbq, fruity, spicy, ethnic) OR served on a bun with condiments, vegetables, cheese, etc OR sliced into chunks and used as the basis for a caesar or any other type of green salad. Your side dishes will vary depending on how you serve the chicken. Often times, I offer a choice of several of these options at the same meal. Leftover chicken is also very convenient to have. Think chicken salad sandwiches or straight chicken salad made with leftover grilled chicken. If you make the chicken salad as you are tidying up from dinner, you have a premade head start on the next day's lunch! Depending on whether or not it is convenient to use an oven, roast chicken (do as many as you can get in the oven) is a very simple way to serve poultry. I would probably serve sides similar to those served with fried chicken...(mashed potatoes, baked beans, almost any vegetable or two.) Consider bringing a couple of homemade premade frozen items. It is really nice to know that once in awhile, the main component of a meal is already prepared. FISH!!! Any way, any day! :hurray: Have fun, sounds like a great time!
  15. SWEET! :svengo: :svengo: :svengo: That sounds way nicer than the bike gadget I purchased! Have fun...YUM! :hurray:
  16. This is so annoying! :glare: I have friends, (I'm not that disciplined) who religiously block every single robo call number after they determine that it is an unwanted call. It is pure poetry in motion to watch... :hurray: It seems to take them less than 10 seconds of effort... So why don't I do this as well? :confused1: :confused1: :confused1:
  17. Yes, you do need an AmEx card, one that is the Membership Rewards card option (one of their card offerings.) This is actually an AmEx promotion that just happens to be connected to Amazon. It is not an actual Amazon promo. Hope this clarifies things a bit.
  18. Thank you so much for taking the time to share this! It worked! I am thrilled! We are doing the "Peloton bike experience" hack here and a nifty little gadget for our new spin bike, (which by the way, did not COST 2K!!! ) is on its way from Amazon. It was a $70 item and our out of pocket cost was $15.09. Made me smile...  Thanks again!
  19. :grouphug: :grouphug: for Mom and CONGRATS to him!!! 'Tis bittersweet indeed, but ultimately good for all involved! This too, shall pass...
  20. Just a thought... Did the Judge include a firm timeline/deadline for catching up? Is it remotely possible to immediately request (via your attorney) that the Judge order the repayment to occur at the time of the closing (and out of his portion of the sale proceeds?) If it were me, I would probably consider requesting an emergency hearing based solely on the upcoming closing date and the fact that "The Loser SBXH" will indeed be in possession of known liquid assets. :grouphug: :grouphug:
  21. :grouphug: and Good Luck! Just a thought... Would you consider writing a letter to the owners to be submitted with your applications? Not at all intended to 'explain' your four children, (I also have four kiddos,) but rather just to let the owners or management company learn a little bit about you and your family. IME, sometimes this has been a tie breaker, all other factors being somewhat equal. My kiddos are all grown now, but no one would ever rent to us these days, too many house cats!! Good luck!
  22. Take a peek at this... http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/burning-mouth-syndrome/symptoms-causes/dxc-20179960 It's so vexing, I know... :grouphug:
  23. With all due respect and good humor intended... THIS IS UTTERLY HILARIOUS!!!! You Go Girl... I'm a fan!! #teamgarga
  24. Right??? Google her screen name. She was 100% serious.... :hurray: :hurray: :hurray:
