  1. Okay. So we go with Saxon 7/6. Dr. Shormann of DIVE CD-ROM says to start with half lessons for th first thirty lessons, if you do that you don't start the new stuff until Week 15 of your school year! That plan seems excessively long. How have others handles the switch?
  2. DD2 (age 9) has done Singapore math since 1st grade. She is finishing 4B now. She has asks to switch math curriculum. She is so tired of the look of Singapore Math. We've done Primary Mathematics and Math in Focus. I was planning to switch her to Saxon after 5A +B anyway. So I gave her the placement test for Saxon. She placed into 7\6. Should I skip her? I have Saxon 6\5 2nd ed. already but am not oppose to buying 7/6.I just don't want to set us up for a difficult year. Math is her favorite subject. Her goal is to get to Algebra. What would you do?
  3. WE also use and enjoy the Vertias Press Guide. FYI, it is all the books of the series in one guide. I plan to use it over several years -- doing one or two books a year. My girls really like the projects.
  4. Isn't it the same thing? Twelve divided by three is three equal groups of four. We used manipulatives to see the process. I wouldn't stress to much about the language, as long as you introduce the process that division is moving from a whole ( the Dividend) to a part (the quotient) and that the groups being made must be equal. My dds seemed to understand no matter how I phrased it. We use SM, btw.
  5. We do Classical Writing. Next year my oldest will start Homer. (I love CW, btw.) CW recommends Harvey Grammar which I am not thrilled with. Would A Beka Lanuage B offer the same rigor and grounding in grammar? I know WTM suggests Rod and Staff, but A Beka appeals to me more. Any thoughts, suggestions?
  6. Hi all, We are trying to make the Veritas Press Projecft from Explorers to 1815. I was looking at the instructions. After glue gunning the mast, it just says add the sails . . .? What holds the sails in place? More dowels or what? Has anyone done this project and made it work? Help needed. Thanks.
