  1. The way I heard the vaccine process described - the normal process is like driving through heavy traffic across a big city. This process had a police escort and all the lights on green. The route was just the same, all the junctions were cleared, but the usual time wasters - lack of money, corporate and governmental unwillingness to risk putting money into facilities early, etc - were removed.
  2. Speaking gently, isn't 'forgettable' part of the point? Neat, attractive, elegant - sure. But shouldn't 'memorable' be for the bride?
  3. There are also cultural differences by area. My style of giving opinions seemed rude and oppositional to my MIL.
  4. I hope things are okay. Reconsidering ones focus is always a good idea. I've taken helpful board breaks in the past. I'm happy to start the thread, but anyone else can step in if I forget.
  5. I don't know if this might help, but when we moved across the world, we were advised to put together a physical photo album full of photos of China. It allowed us to have a focus for mourning, and to fix those things in the past.
  6. Flu almost wiped out in the UK https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/hygiene-and-immunity-leave-flu-germs-with-nowhere-to-go-xxdb65klt
  7. I like 3 and 6. Slightly more understated might be good on this occasion.
  8. We need some good news Vaccine Rollout Gives U.K. a Rare Win in Battling Pandemic https://nyti.ms/3r4Mj3E
  9. Oh, Strava got a bit confused this evening when I was cooking.
  10. I think you need a new word. Not wimp, for sure. Sensible self preservation? That's what we call a Blondie day - imitating the excellent relaxation skills displayed by our 14yo dog. Running this evening. The tides were not ideal and the sand was a bit soft. My calf cramped up but I managed to complete the session. It's 9pm and I have retired to bed with my recovery placebos of choice (@Monica_in_Switzerland) - a big mug of rooibos, a hot water bottle and a detective novel. Have great weekends!
  11. Johnson and Johnson vaccine works, but less well in South Africa Johnson & Johnson’s Vaccine Offers Strong Protection but Fuels Concern About Variants https://nyti.ms/3takfh6
  12. I had an incipient crease back there. It seems to have gone. I'm not noticeably thinner than I was, so presumably it is due to some combination of yoga and Nordic walking.
  13. When you say flab, do you mean a layer of fat similar to elsewhere on your body? Or do you mean flesh that tends to hang down or crease?
  14. I had something similar at one point. For this area it wasn't any use: repairs were organised nationally and we had to wait a long time for trades people to travel to cover our roof temporarily after it was damaged in a storm. We have found it more useful to develop good relationships with local traders who have an interest in keeping their local reputation strong.
  15. Husband and I both had success with the manoeuvres to reposition crystals.
  16. When I looked for an advisor a long time ago, it was considered better to pay a one-time fee for time spent, rather than a continuing percentage: it cost more up-front, but there was less likelihood that you would be sold products that were most lucrative for the advisor. I don't know if that's an option where you are.
  17. I married a fund manager...
  18. Pretty pictures, @Ali in OR. We were due to have snow tomorrow, but it's looking like rain now. Woke up much too early, so will attempt to have a nap. I'm hoping to slide away to the beach at 4pm to run, then my English module starts this evening. Probably no yoga today. Eating has been a bit excessive recently: my usual problem - good stuff, just too much of it.
  19. I use a fitness band too - in fact it was a major reason for my buying one in the first place. I wear earplugs, so I couldn't hear my alarm. It works well for me.
  20. Running was good yesterday but I was pretty tired this morning. We managed to find a not-too-icy route for a lunchtime dog walk today. I managed to pull a muscle trying to do Flying Pigeon. I think I was not leaning into it enough, so was trying to use strength rather than balance. Next time I'll put a cushion down to give me more security to lean forward. Hands free yoga this evening to keep the weight off my arm. The pulled muscle seems to hurt between my chest and armpit. It's not bad though - just a bit of rest needed.
  21. The Covid Zoe survey are seeing more reactions in people who have had the virus. I don't know about severity. The video has lots of good information on reactions and time to effectiveness.
  22. This table from the NYT is good because it shows the past week as well as totals, so you can see the progress.
  23. From The Guardian. Cases and vaccination moving in the right direction.
  24. I get ill every autumn, except this year, after the foreign students arrive bringing unfamiliar bugs.
