  1. You are correct, and it says more about the person who holds that view than anything else.
  2. He will take a more advanced physics course with a lab his junior year that will be on his high school transcripts. Currently, he needs to take physics in 8th grade for a program he is interested in his freshman and sophmore year of high school. I am confident in his understanding of the subject or I would not be seeking a way to do a curriculum that he can accelerate through to meet the requirement.
  3. Thanks for the link. I ordered Conceptual Physics after reading the information I think it should satisfy the requirements. The joy of checking boxes.
  4. Has to be a full year. It is not my requirement and I just found out about it today.
  5. Based on my experience drinking heavily is the expected norm. I find it disturbing and have for 8+ years since I first saw it as a huge issue.
  6. 8th. I need to update my signature. Looking at options for high school and if he does not get physics this year then it will impact his placement in high school.
  7. I need an open and go lower high school level physics course. I need it for review and to check a box. Must be secular. Workbook style is fine. Hands on labs are not needed, I am confident in my son's grasp on the content, this is just to check a box. We did chemistry this year not knowing he needed physics.
  8. My state I can but I have to hand deliver the script to the company. They will not accept a fax from the doctor and do not want it mailed in. They are less than 20 miles from my house but it is not worth the headache so I just go to the local pharmacy instead.
  9. https://www.nbcnews.com/business/business-news/bezos-buffett-dimon-join-create-independent-health-care-company-n842546 Have we talked about this yet? I am reading everything I can on it.
  10. I hate cats on counters. I tried locking them in our room 100% of the time. They destroyed the room and our bed. I tried training them with spray bottles. They just wait until the bottle is not near or no one is looking and get on the counter. So I installed doors. The kitchen is now isolated from the rest of the house. This was a last resort because I worried about the kitchen feeling cramped. Thankfully the layout of our house has made it so I do not feel like I am in a box. I do need to replace the hardware on one door to ensure it is more secure when closed because the brats learned how to open it.
  11. No clue. I only clicked in hopes of seeing cute bunny pictures.
  12. Yeah, they refused to let DS teach them and have made it a drama filled few weeks during that cold snap. I am sad to report that lessons were not learned and they still swear they do not need to know, while begging for rides because it was cold and they cannot be expected to dress for the weather or walk.
  13. If you knew my kid you would not think that is bizarre. He did not need any information. He knew where his destination was and he knew the most logical route to get there (specifically he new he needed to head North rather than East South or West) and since he understands how the city street grid works and knows that 12th street is between 5th st and 27th st he was able to figure out that he needed to board a bus heading in that direction. The bus stops have maps and schedules displayed. Once on the bus there are signs explaining how to request a stop as well as verbal directions on a loop played over the speaker. I handed him a bunch of change and he was perfectly capable of reading the sign explaining the cost. It really is that simple.
  14. 14 correct? Find an ice cream place several miles away that can be accessed by bus. Go there and buy a gift card, if he likes video games find a game store several miles and a transfer away from the ice cream stop, get a gift card. Give him both gift cards, a bus map and a day pass. I promise he will be a pro bus rider by the time he gets home.
  15. Check if your bus system has an online app, if not Google Maps can help. We all have the apps, but not to know where to get off and transfer, we use it to pay fares and to track how far the bus is. While it would be nice if the bus driver can remember which stop and is able to remind your son, they are not baby sitters and it is not feasible to expect them to provide that level of care and attention to a teenager. ETA: I never gave DS any instructions before his first time on a bus aside from "go to x location". I did not even explain where to insert the cash. What he couldn't figure out intuitively he asked the bus driver.
  16. Make sure he has his pass and drop him off at the bus stop. Public transportation is not rocket science or brain surgery. My DS is 14 and has been going solo on the bus for a few years now, as well as walking the half mile from the house to the stop and back. It is not a big deal.
  17. In the rural area near me there are towns who depend on income from tickets for minor infractions from out of towners. They have a quota to make. It is not uncommon or unknown of an issue. My husband works in the city. One night he had a major project going on and worked until 11 or so every night that week. I went to pick him up and parked legally a block away. About the 4th night a cop pulled up behind me no lights and just sat there for the 20 minutes I was waiting. While they were sitting there I noticed three other police cars circling the block, yeah for different types of police cars so it was easy to tell how many there were. My husband finally came out and got in the car and they followed me to the highway. I wanted to get out and tell them the drug deals happen a block and a half southwest of where I was if they were bored and if they had any questions about why a short middle aged white woman was sitting in a legally parked car to ask already so they could get on with doing whatever and I could go back to reading my book on my kindle in peace.
  18. This. I also share the experience of being underpaid as a woman as well as having people argue with me that I was demanding to much money and I was full of myself and anyone could do what I did. Those same people where pissed off when they tried to DIY without guidance and spent 10+ hours researching what they could and they did still not get the desired results with half knowledge.
  19. I had that exact one in my cart. Maybe this is a sign that I am meant for that hoodie?
  20. I am happy I am not alone in my hoodie struggles.
  21. I bought and titled in my name two motorcycles before I was 15 and a car by the age of 16. My money. My responsibility. Paying the taxes sucked and I was late renewing the tags on my car the first time and the late fee suckef, but it was part of growing up and taking on responsiblity.
