stacim replied to Hoot's topic in High School and Self-Education Board
Yes, please! I would love a list of resources as well. -
Spanish is NOT going well, son is struggling
stacim replied to ktgrok's topic in K-8 Curriculum Board
If you decide to go with Visual Link, they do have a discount code, HOMESCHOOL30, that will get you 30% off their products, not sure if that applies to the monthly subscription, though. Before I bought mine, I signed up for the free trial and they started sending me special offers by email almost immediately that were for prices lower than their sale price. They also have a great satisfaction guarantee, but again, not sure if that applies to the monthly subscription. We were happy with VL! -
I just came across Getting Started with Spanish on Amazon last night. I think I might have to grab a copy to take a look at that! Thanks for the heads up on Mango! I just checked an my library has it fro free as well. I am so excited to check it out!

Teaching Company sale buy 2 get 1 free all 70%+ off
stacim replied to Caryl's topic in High School and Self-Education Board
Did you try the coupon code mentioned above? :001_smile: -
who pays to fix it? We have had our two oldest boys (12 and 15) break a couple things recently that will need to be fixed or replaced (a bedroom door and glass in a built-in cabinet door). One was out of anger/frustration and the other out of foolishness/goofing off. We are trying to decide who will pay for the repairs/replacement. Just curious how others handle situations like this... :bigear:

S/O Leaving kids in cars unattended POLL
stacim replied to cdrumm4448's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Yes, but I also have older kids and only have done so when the oldest (15) or second oldest (12) is in the van. I never did so before 12 or 13, though. -
When do you need graphing calculators?
stacim replied to FrogMom5's topic in High School and Self-Education Board
So true! It is so sad to see so many young people unable to calculate without the use of said tools. I was at the store a few days ago, and because of the way that I paid for my transaction, the cash register didn't tell the cashier how much change she needed to give me. She actually asked me how much change I needed back from the dollar I handed her when my cash payment was $.79. :glare: -
When do you need graphing calculators?
stacim replied to FrogMom5's topic in High School and Self-Education Board
So glad to see these posts. I keep reading threads about graphing calculators and I don't remember using them, even in my calc classes. I was beginning to think I was losing my mind. :) -
Rosetta Stone v/s Visual Link Spanish
stacim replied to BarbinTN's topic in High School and Self-Education Board
Be sure to sign up for their email list. Once I did that, I regularly received emails to purchase at a discount. Or if you don't have time to wait (although I don't think it took long to get the first email offer), you could call the company and ask, like the previous poster said. I am waiting for them to finish up the new Mac version. It looks like they made several changes to the new version that makes it worth waiting for. I am excited to relearn Spanish while my kids learn it! -
Thanks, Nicole! That's very kind of you. I bought directly from AMSCO. I may try to email them tomorrow if no one here can help. Hoping to not have to pay twice, but maybe they'll have mercy on me.:) I am pretty sure you can get it from RR, but it says you need to call. I actually ordered directly from AMSCO. I had to send them a letter on "school" letterhead to prove I was a teacher :glare:, but I saved quite a bit that way since I was buying several things. ;)

Will KB or TT take less time than Saxon Math???
stacim replied to buttercup's topic in Logic Stage & Middle Grade Challenges
Angie, Do you have any idea how long it will take at the pace she is going at? It is taking my son forever and it doesn't seem like we are going to get through it? We did start late in the year after switching to it from another program, so I wouldn't expect him to finish by the end of our school year, but I don't know when he'll be done at the rate he is going. -
I purchased the VftHSS and the VftCBS workbooks, answer keys, tests and test answers keys last fall. The answer key came as a pdf on a cd, so, for convenience, I saved the answer key to my computer. A couple of weeks ago, my hard drive crashed, and now I can't find the cd. :crying: Is there anyone who has the answer key in pdf format that would be willing to email it to me? I can take a picture of everything else I bought as a good-faith way of showing that I bought pretty much the whole kit and kaboodle if you want. This has been stressing me out so much for over a week now and we are already behind where I wanted to be with this. I will likely have to order a new answer key if I don't find it, but based on my original order, it will probably take at least a week to get here. Just thought I would check here to see if anyone can help me out. Thanks for reading!
