  1. So if I'm reading all this correctly...I have a 3rd & 5th grader so I would start them both at level 1 but with their corresponding grade-level workbooks? I was hoping to start this next semester after we finish Grammar Island but I'm having information overload with this website! :tongue_smilie:
  2. This looks really interesting. Has anyone used it? Any comments/thoughts?
  3. I've finally admitted to myself that I really dislike teaching foreign language so I'm trying to find a computer-based Latin program. I've looked at Rosetta Stone but it seems more conversational than I'd want. I'd like something that they could do independently and hopefully doesn't cost a fortune. We're used Prima Latina along with the videos but it was not a hit in our household (though I think it's a fine program.) Any suggestions?

  5. Reporting it is a given. But, why in the world did he not step in and stop it??
  6. I'm in a similar dilemma. My son is on the last lesson in WWE 4. I want to move him right into WWS but I'm not exactly sure how to implement it because I don't have a hard copy. I don't think he'd do well reading on the computer but I also don't want to print out each lesson. I'm not meaning to hijack the thread but does anyone have any suggestions?
  7. Now this is addictive! Love the stuff except that I prefer just plain ole cream cheese.
  8. How timely! My son just finished 2 pages from Lesson 6 in about 2 minutes. I went ahead and introduced Lesson 7 too but I was just thinking spending the next few weeks on basic division facts is going to be painful. He obviously understands basic division and has his multiplication facts down so I think I'm going to give him a couple of the unit tests then just skip him ahead. I'll flesh out any other non-division concepts to make sure he doesn't miss anything. I know he'll slow down considerably when we reach multiple-digit multiplication.
  9. My 6 year-old loves this ride! I think it's actually a little less "scary" since they modified it to the "Nightmare before Christmas" theme. They have it completely done up for Halloween and it was great. The one aspect that might be a little scary is before the ride even starts. You all go into a "room" which is actually an elevator. The lights suddenly go out and you're in complete darkness for a few seconds, there's a loud scream and something is projected up on the ceiling. The doors then open and you move onto the ride. Not a big deal for my boys but little ones might get scared if they don't know what's coming. Still one of my favorites!
  10. You've never mummified a chicken. We're starting our "Ihmo-bock" this week. :D
  11. How about fried bologna sandwiches? I watching a Food Network show last night where one of the chefs reminisced about bologna sandwiches from her childhood. They looked good! An old Hawaiian favorite is Span and scrambled eggs. I bet bologna would make a decent substitute.
  12. :iagree: I've made an attempt to switch twice now, AAS & SWS...both total flops! As much as I'd love a more independent program, SWR is so solid so I'm just sticking with it for the duration. What about Spelling Workout?
  13. [quote name=Nakia;3060700 Thanks so much' date=' Susan, for providing the samples! You are so generous![/quote] :iagree: We are so looking forward to starting this soon. On a side note, I've been driving myself insane looking for my copy of WWS...literally days. It wasn't until I read a thread yesterday did I remember that duh, I only have the download samples. :tongue_smilie: We haven't even started school yet. Not a good sign...
  14. :iagree: I also agree with the KOA being a total waste of money. They're run down and not really kid-friendly, especially when the other campers expect that your children should be in school!
  15. I have been wracking my brain for over a week trying to figure out what I did with my new copy of WWS. Seriously...over a week. I finally realized (after reading this thread) that duh...I only have the download samples; no actual book yet. It's never a good sign when you're losing it before school has even started! :tongue_smilie:
  16. I believe they will. I shattered the glass on my Iphone and they could replace it but it was a $100 fix. Amazon should have do-it-yourself screen replacement kits for about $10. Be warned though-my husband tried to replace my screen and my phone was left in dozens of pieces! The upside was that I got new Iphone 4 out of the deal! :D If you do get a new one, just make sure to back everything up on your ITunes account and you should be fine. Fortunately, I just had done that a few days prior with my old phone. The ITouch should work exactly the same.
  17. :iagree: I think Bill has been eating some of those WTM brownies again! :tongue_smilie:
  18. Tax free days? What a concept! If politicians here in California got hold of that idea, they'd turn it into double tax day instead...:glare:
  19. I found this site online and some of the recipes look really good. I think I'm trying a chicken and biscuits recipe tonight. http://www.miserlymoms.com/frugalrecipes_updated.html
  20. I'm trying to find the thread from a few days ago with Mac n Cheese recipes but I can't get the search function to work?? :glare:
  21. Has anyone made a gear mannequin out of old hockey sticks? I've heard of them and would love to see pics to get started.
