  1. Yes it did. Didn't really inspire me to "clean" but definitely get rid of the clutter on top of my dresser and the kitchen counter top. I even handed a garbage bag to the boys and told them to fill it with junk from their bedroom.
  2. I do. I use KAL brand. It is pure stevia, no fillers. When I bake with it, I add non-fat dry milk solids to make up the bulk of what would be sugar.
  3. None. I send my son into the store on the way to our co-op party to buy Valentine's cookies from the bakery. And not the good ones, either. The cheap ones in the plastic container with the pink and red sprinkles. I just can't manage Valentine's Day, for some reason.
  4. Me, too. We're dry as a bone here. The weather is gorgeous, the kids are out playing, but dh had to irrigate this morning and that never has to happen on the winter.
  5. I'd love to do that. But it's 4:00 pm here and I'm working on getting dinner in the oven and thinking about calling the kids in soon to get their zones cleaned up and get ready for Awanas. And I do Bible study tonight while the kids are at Awanas, so there's no rest for the weary here. I'll live vicariously through you instead. Enjoy.
  6. I hate it, too. I'm getting used to it more, so I pay a little more attention before I post, but things slip in.
  7. My house is clean. We have a service that comes once a week. But it's messy. And there's a big difference. It's messy because we have too much stuff and while I do work at decluttering, it's a long process with me. And my kids do not clean up after themselves unless I stand there and shake a stick at them. And I just can't be after them all the time or I will go insane. So, it's messy.
  8. I think it's pretty bad. Plus, the pictures don't tell us about smell. We've had some issues, though, with our social worker complaining about the state of my house, which really irritate me. First, let me say that we have a weekly cleaning service and they do the usual. Then we do pick up toys in common areas daily and clean bed rooms weekly. But... If you are gonna stop in on me unannounced on the middle of the day with 5 kids who are home all day.... yes, there will be crumbs on the floor from breakfast. I sweep the floor once a day. There are dishes on the counter top. It's spotless when I go to bed, though. I ought to forward these picture to her. (Grumble, grumble)
  9. Sunny and beautiful. And as much as I love the weather, it is worrisome because we have had a very very dry January and desperately need the rain.
  10. I put no. I think in most cases it would be playing with fire, whether yu want to admit it or not. And men are wired differently than women and might have different... er... expectations of the friendship. Personally, there's no way I would. I know myself and I have a good marriage and I love my husband and I want to keep it that way. So I personally need to keep myself as faaaaaar away from temptation as possible.
  11. It is a fun class. We use cheap, light weight PVC pipe for the bodies, Target bags for parachutes and balsa wood for fins and the Estes engines. And lots of hot glue.. The kids love building them and launch day is always exciting and fun and sometimes a little adventurous if something malfunctions, but that rarely happens. Pm me and I'll see if I can throw something together to share. Most of my info is in my head.
  12. Yeah, I know, after I posted it, I thought them same thing. But, not likely to happen. Lol.
  13. I'm offering a rocketry workshop for our co-op next month. Building model rockets from scratch. I've done this a million times with lots of different groups, so it's a process I've practically perfected. I closed the class at 15 (4th-8th graders), but now I've gotten two requests from moms to include their boys. Now, these boys are the ones whose eyes lit up when I mentioned rockets. They both happened to be out of town when we were doing sign ups, so they missed it the sign ups, the class filled fast and I closed it. Now, I know they are going to be excited and motivated to be there. I don't want to disappoint them. It would be different if their moms were just putting them in the class. Ugh. 17 kids. It'll be all right. Right?
  14. That's what I do, except that I don't make them big. When I photocopy the pages I reduce them a little, so they fit on a piece of construction paper. I did the history pockets "as written" the first time I did them and they.... just weren't..... practical.
  15. Maybe Epstein Barr flare-up. That sounds like me when I'm having a flare-up.
  16. Great. I've started reading Calvin's "Institutes..." And I must admit that I'd been avoiding it because I thought it would be hard to read or very dry, but my bil inspired me, so I got it. It's surprisingly very readable and very thought provoking. I would recommend it.
  17. "Why did Constantinople get the works? That's noooooobody's business but the Turrrrrrrks!" We love love love that video.
  18. I always forget about NPR. They do have nice classical music. Generally I have talk radio or nothing. In the car we listen to KLOVE or the other local Christian station.
  19. I read the first one you listed and enjoyed it ver much.
  20. I use my credit card. We do stick to a budget and pay them off every month, so it's the same as cash. Plus, we have an Amazon card and we get points which I use for school stuff.
  21. Week day mornings I eat oatmeal. Weekends I get a little more creative.
  22. I grew up Mennonite and becoming Presbyterian was coming over to the Dark Side as far as my family was concerned. We do not discuss doctrine or the whole infant baptism thing, although dh and I are still credo-baptists (that's the only place we differ with the Presbyterian church)!
  23. I never read it. I went to a Christian high school and it was banned, but our English teacher was a former hippie and very much a rebel so as we were going over reading lists she kept telling us how good this book was, but she couldn't recommend it, ect. Etc. etc., so most of my class read it because they wanted to be rebellious, but I just didn't feel like it. I got hooked on Steinbeck in high school. So I read him.
