Ok, I just have to say that spring where I live is truly amazing. I had to take DD to the ophthalmologist in the Big City today. The drive was incredible. The sky is amazingly blue, the peach trees are in full bloom, so driving down country roads with brilliant pink on both sides, the foothills are emerald green and the Sierras are bright white with snow. It seemed almost not quite real.
DD's appointment was interesting. The doctor had been rather vague recently and I hadn't seen him since the MRI. So, he cleared up a lot of things today. Her optic nerve is atypical and it seems she has this condition called pseudopappilaedema. It's fake swelling of the optic nerve. He repeated the tests he did in August and she is stable, which is what he is looking for. He will continue to monitor her every 5-6 months to make she sure she is stable and things are unchanging. If nothing changes then this is the way she is. If there is change, then there is a problem. Apparently he was vague about why he ordered the MRI because true edema of the optic nerve is very bad and he didn't want me Googling it and finding out all sorts of horrible things and starting to freak out.
