  1. I had a graduating class of 68. Two classmates died before we even graduated. One in a tragic accident at summer camp and the other from side effects of the flu. Since graduation, a couple died in car accidents, one died of a congenital disease (we all knew in high school she would not live out a normal life span), one died of interaction between allergy meds and something else.
  2. Good Morning!! COFFEE!!!!!☕ï¸â˜•ï¸â˜•ï¸â˜•ï¸â˜•ï¸ We use CLE for math, too, and have been through many different math programs...Singapore, A Beka, Teaching Textbooks. I wish I knew about CLE with my oldest. For some reason it is not very well known out here. I think it is a fantastic curriculum. It does a really good job teaching fractions. Especially how to find the LCM and GCF and reducing, simplifying, etc. I mention this because fractions is where we got hung up in both Singapore and TT. We never got that far with A Beka. All my kids are using it now and they are really doing well.
  3. Well, we gave Snowflake a Christian burial. And thank you all for your expressions of sympathy. I really appreciate it. I don't know. I've never been so sad about a cat before. And honestly, now her death is a mystery. I had been thinking about it and the scenario I described earlier could only have happened if I had been shutting the garage door. I had been opening it. We went and looked in the garage and i just don't see how the garage door could have been the problem. Plus, it has a sensor on it, so if something is in the way of it coming down it stops. And she had no marks on her body to indicate any sort of trauma. I wonder if she got bit by a black widow or something. I don't know if that could kill a cat.
  4. I am absolutely sick. I am just sick. I killed our cat. It was an accident. She was in the garage, but I didn't know (she hates the rain) and I went out to take Allie to tumbling and I hit the garage door opener. I heard a banging sound, I thought it was DS hitting his basketball against the garage door and I went out to yell at him and he wasn't out there and I looked down and saw Snowflake laying there on the floor dead. I am just sick. She must have climbed up on the track or something. As far as I know she has never done that before. She usually just naps on the car. Her neck must have been broken because there was no sign of injury. So, she didn't suffer. Probably didn't even know what happened. But I am so sad. She was the best cat ever. She was smart and pretty and affectionate. Oldest DD is heartbroken. I just want to cry and throw up!!
  5. We schooled, picked up DS from his school, now the kids are doing their afternoon gaming and I have 20 minutes before I become a taxi driver to and from tumbling class for 3 girls. This is one of those times I am extremely glad I live in a small town, where across town is a 7 minute drive.
  6. "Mom, I hate school. I also hate camels because they smell like poop." Allison, age 6. This is my morning.
  7. We are 4 pages away from 1800!!!! And then 200 pages away from 2,000. This is my Educational post of the day: math

  9. seriously? What kind of people think of this stuff??
  10. Oh wow!! That transplanted those trees pretty good, didn't it? It's creepy how slow it all was. Like those tsunami videos.

  12. Good Morning!!! COFFEE!!☕ï¸â˜•ï¸â˜•ï¸â˜•ï¸â˜•ï¸ Rain!!☔ï¸â˜”ï¸
  13. I've thought about that before. Like, if I had a whole day,mor even a morning to myself... what would I do with it? I couldn't think of a single thing I'd just like to do for fun. If I had that time to myself I would probably end up cleaning something.😢 Although I must say that going to Homeschool Convention with BFF is rejuvenating. Not because it's the convention, but because it's getting away with my BFF of 35 years and not having to be responsible for anything.
  14. ((Junie and Mr. Junie)) I'm glad they were able to diagnose him.
  15. Hmm, well... I love chocolate mint very very much!! Very much. I can't say I like Pepto, because that would be weird, but I don't mind taking it, when I have to, which really isn't often at all.
  16. sometimes being a cat mother is hard, too. I've seen that "look" on a mama cat's face and I know exactly how she feels.
  17. A FAFSA on all that!! College is just a big racket anyhow!!
  18. Oh, Dawn!! Hugs to you!! Don't ever stay away from ITT because you feel like you are complaining. We need each other. We are the only ones who get it!!!
  19. what do you think of that show? I started it a while back and for some reason it didn't grab me and I got distracted by something else.
  20. I have a bizarre tobacco story. Right out of college I did volunteer work in Appalachia. I worked at a child development center and one of my jobs was to ride the van that took the kids home, because they had to have two adults. I hated that job because the hills were horribly curvy and I got dreadfully carsick. However, one of the drivers was a smoker, but she wasn't allowed to smoke in the van, so she drove with the window open and held the cigarette out the window. A very little smoke did end up drifting in the window, though and for some reason, it really helped my car sickness. But I only think it helped because it was a very little bit. We'd be out on those curvy country roads and I just couldn't wait for her to light up! 😜
