  1. Warning: Educational Post Reported!! If this post makes you feel nervous or twitchy or itchy or scratchy.... take a couple of Benadryl and drink a cup of COFFEE☕ï¸â˜•ï¸â˜•ï¸â˜•ï¸ So, I finished lesson planning for Art & Music. It all just came together. I'm kind of excited about this whole Fine Arts Friday things. Ok, so that's something I'm looking forward to this school year. I wish I could figure out a way to share it with y'all.
  2. I neither like nor dislike cupcakes. Actually, cake in general is not a favorite dessert. I prefer Icecream. Or pie. Or pie with Icecream. Or cookies and ice cream.
  3. I remember that. I merely observed, I did not participate. It was rather crazy!!
  4. My youngest falls into that category, esp. Since California recently (?? Or maybe not) moved the date to Sept. 1 and she's an October birthday. As a homeschooler, you teach your child where they're at and what they're ready for, so arbitrary dates for grades and such don't really matter. However, for us....I needed to decide what grade she was in for Sunday School class and Awana and I decided to follow the Sept. 1 cut-off. Also, she wasn't interested in doing schoolwork the year she turned 5 and I had a lot on my plate with my other kids. So, I just bought the R&S set of kindergarten workbooks and she worked through those independently. Ironically, her kindergarten year she did CLE's phonics, math and LA programs, which is technically 1st grade. So, this year, although she's a first grader, all her books say "2" on them. Everyone is confused.
  5. You could do this with some subjects and not others. Some subjects it is very important to finish the book. Like math, for example. But, if you make it through June, and are only half way through the book, just do math during the summer. Do it year round. My oldest two are quite behind in math and they are doing it all summer long. They don't love it, but it's fine. It's not like we're doing full-on school. Just a math lesson a day.
  6. I like berry pie with homemade vanilla Icecream. And COFFEE☕ï¸!
  7. If over half the people feel the same way, I don't think it's weird anymore. It has crossed the line into normal.
  8. Good Morning!!! COFFEE!!!☕ï¸â˜•ï¸â˜•ï¸â˜•ï¸ Friday Eve!!ðŸ‘ðŸ‘👠Orthodontist! Did I mention that I was down to 2 children for the overnight hours?? DS1 @ camp still, DS2 last minute sleep-over with neighbor-friend and DD1 sleep-over, too. It was a really quiet and pleasant evening. I guess there is a pretty big difference between 5 kids and 2 kids.
  9. Those are lovely pictures. And now, I am going to bed. Sleep well, my lovelies! No headaches or bizarre and/or vivid dreams.
  10. I've never had Half-Baked Icecream. I prefer Denali Moose Tracks!!
  11. I sewed all afternoon. Costco pizza for dinner. Bleh!!
  12. I saw that thread and didn't open it. I'm not really looking forward to anything, either.
  13. I am back. Did all the things I hate: **Driving! I hate driving. **Driving in the Big City. I hate the Big City. Almost got into a wreck. Idiot aggressive driver tried to cut in front of me in a construction zone when she really should have waited. She, of course, gave me all the requisite gestures. **Driving on the freeway. But, we made it to the Scout Store. Made it to Costco. Got all the things at Costco, including Cashew Clusters for our trip. I never tried them before. Oh my word!!! I opened them when we got home, just to make sure they were good. That was a bad idea. I think we'll be lucky if the bag lasts till we leave for Disneyland.
  14. Yes, and they pride themselves on keeping tuition costs low (relatively speaking) so they tack on all sorts of other stuff. I shouldn't gripe, we are choosing to send him there. And they are quite up-front abut the expenses, nothing hidden!! And I taught there, I know the juggling they do to keep tuition as affordable as possible, yet give the kids a quality and competitive education and provide a decent living for the teachers, etc. etc. etc.
  15. Ok, I need to get some breakfast and do devotions. No one is awake yet. Except the kittens who insist on tackling each other.
  16. Annnnd I have to stop at the Scout Store. Second DS had something (which he denies and I think it had to be a pen, but I couldn't find it anywhere) in his pocket when I washed his Class A shirt, which left huge blue ink blotches. Nothing I could do got them out. So I get to buy him a new shirt. 😡😡😡😡😡
  17. If I see you, I'll wave. We'll probably be at the samples!!
  18. Now I've got The Call stuck in my head. Thanks a lot, Junei!!!😡😡😡
  19. Yes, it is quite religious. But the ocean boxes turned out really cute. And you should see the plastic wrap jellyfish. Awesome sauce!!
  20. I know. Apparently you can rent them from the school, too. The kids' books are all on them..... I don't know what else. Most of the parents I've talked to ( granted, most of my friends who send their kids here think like me, so you can take what I say with a pound of salt) don't like the iPad program at all. But.... what are you going to do?? The school is set on it. And for us, this is our only option for this kid. Homeschooling in any way shape or form (regular, charter, on-line, etc.) is out of the question. The local public school is horrible. I would rather chew my arm off than send him there. And he would probably drown. Which leaves the Christian School. It's a good school. I graduated there, I taught there back in the day.... I bought the iPad and Disney tickets. Got them all on-line. Click. Click. I know, you're right. I really think we do need to go with what we love and I just need to lighten up. which she does so well!!
  21. And it's Critter for the win!!! Waaaahhhh (the crowd goes wild)!!!!
  22. I knew that was a song!!!!! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=to2KasivROc (From one of my favorite, though somewhat obscure groups)
