  1. So sorry to hear this. I will be praying for you, and I hope they find the idiot driver!
  2. Well, a trip to England would be a bit far to go see the only grandparents! When my MIL was alive though, I put my foot down and said NO. Christmas Day was for us. She was welcome to come and eat with us, but we were going to spend the day at home where my son (I only had him at the time) could play with his presents. My compromise was that on Thanksgiving, we went there. It worked for us :)
  3. You might like to consider something like Ambleside... it is very much structured around reading :)
  4. I'm in central Va- just North of Richmond :) I see one or two others here in this thread that is old...
  5. LOL My grandad sang that one to Mum, who sang it to us :) I need to add it to my nightly song with DD :) Another one I love is the one 'Go to Sleep my Baby'. My grandad sang that one to us too. You can hear the tune here. Although he always sang time for *insert name* to go to sleep... Lyrics and variations here.
  6. This thread is fantastic- thanks everyone for sharing :) I had a couple of links to add: Harvey's Grammar (the one used in the Classical Writing books). And Emma Serl's Primary Language Lessons is now in Google Books too :) Oh- and a hyperlink to the Larkin Dunton and Augustus Hill Kelley book :)
  7. I was wondering the same thing about 3rd grade Chemistry. That elemental science sounds very interesting... I shall be watching to see if there are any more good suggestions :)
  8. I had definitely thought about Fizz, Bubble and Flash. Since I actually have that one ;) Keep the suggestions coming, I know I am checking out all the ideas ;)
  9. I have been wondering about this too. My 8 year old has requested 'experiments' and is hoping she can follow along with her (almost) 13 year old brother's Apologia course LOL. I was looking at the recommendations in TWTM for third year Chemistry... and those books are not precisely easy to get (well not all of them) :glare: I did consider the Chem C500 kit from Thames and Kosmos, but I think I want something a little more comprehensive. Because, well, like I said, she wants to do the middle school one :) So I shall be waiting to see what others suggest!
  10. Well you might like Ray's, which I think is online for free, or perhaps save a little to get Teaching Textbooks... it is a great program.
  11. the one next door to me was for sale... Currently they've put it for rent. We're just north of Richmond;) there are all kinds of homeschool groups here :)
  12. Story of the World PLUS the AG and some of the AO palns too :) DS was listening to Our Island Story this afternoon... then decided to tell DH all about it at dinner time :) I love librivox.org
  13. Classical Writing right now :) DS LOVES this program :)
  14. Latina Christiana right now, but we dont have far to go. I am thinking Latin Prep next :)
  15. I think the red means hot topic, the arrow means some are unopened or maybe unreplied to.
  16. Do you mean the stars in the threads? You can 'rate' a thread if you highlight it.
  17. Praying. I am glad they found him though...
  18. 10 is Hive Mind Larvae 51 Is hive mind worker bee. We haven't got further yet ;)
  19. There isn't :D Everyone just wants to know what's next, and I like messing with the boards ;)
  20. The cardinal is one of my favourites too :) The birds were fun, I just sat in front of the feeder and drew. THAT is a great way to get inspired :) Squirrels are very frustrating though :D They scare the birds away and move too much!
  21. bwaaaaaaaaahaaaaaaaaaaahaaaaaaaaaahaaaaaa I have to admit, I don't know that I have ever seen it quite that way before :)
