So sorry to hear this. I will be praying for you, and I hope they find the idiot driver! -
Do you go to Grandma & Grandpa's on Christmas Day?
~Rachel~ replied to CatholicMom's topic in K-8 Curriculum Board
Well, a trip to England would be a bit far to go see the only grandparents! When my MIL was alive though, I put my foot down and said NO. Christmas Day was for us. She was welcome to come and eat with us, but we were going to spend the day at home where my son (I only had him at the time) could play with his presents. My compromise was that on Thanksgiving, we went there. It worked for us :) -
What if I let my dc just do math and read the rest of the day?
~Rachel~ replied to mathnmusic's topic in K-8 Curriculum Board
You might like to consider something like Ambleside... it is very much structured around reading :) -
I'm in central Va- just North of Richmond :) I see one or two others here in this thread that is old...

LOL My grandad sang that one to Mum, who sang it to us :) I need to add it to my nightly song with DD :) Another one I love is the one 'Go to Sleep my Baby'. My grandad sang that one to us too. You can hear the tune here. Although he always sang time for *insert name* to go to sleep... Lyrics and variations here.

Construct a S&S for Grammar from Vintage e-books
~Rachel~ replied to Medieval Mom's topic in K-8 Curriculum Board
This thread is fantastic- thanks everyone for sharing :) I had a couple of links to add: Harvey's Grammar (the one used in the Classical Writing books). And Emma Serl's Primary Language Lessons is now in Google Books too :) Oh- and a hyperlink to the Larkin Dunton and Augustus Hill Kelley book :) -
I was wondering the same thing about 3rd grade Chemistry. That elemental science sounds very interesting... I shall be watching to see if there are any more good suggestions :)
-
I had definitely thought about Fizz, Bubble and Flash. Since I actually have that one ;) Keep the suggestions coming, I know I am checking out all the ideas ;)
-
I have been wondering about this too. My 8 year old has requested 'experiments' and is hoping she can follow along with her (almost) 13 year old brother's Apologia course LOL. I was looking at the recommendations in TWTM for third year Chemistry... and those books are not precisely easy to get (well not all of them) :glare: I did consider the Chem C500 kit from Thames and Kosmos, but I think I want something a little more comprehensive. Because, well, like I said, she wants to do the middle school one :) So I shall be waiting to see what others suggest!

Singapore Math not working...what to use?
~Rachel~ replied to Sue G in PA's topic in K-8 Curriculum Board
Well you might like Ray's, which I think is online for free, or perhaps save a little to get Teaching Textbooks... it is a great program. -

I think the red means hot topic, the arrow means some are unopened or maybe unreplied to.
