  1. A definite no. It also seems that in the position that she is in, that the training should involve some discussion of 'not getting too emotionally close' to clients. I would think this would be a general understanding, that while one can grow very fond of their clients, there is a definite line not to be crossed. I think this is a very strange request, but you are handling it nicely.
  2. Praying for you as you regain your strength.
  3. I just checked sites again, and I used incognito tab as well. The 'See more on Facebook' tab that has 'log in or sign' in was covering the first page with a light screen over it. But I did click on the X in the right corner of the tab and today it worked! The See More tab disappeared and I was able to get on like I used to. Hooray! Mommyoffive, I hope it will work for you also! But I appreciate the suggestions for anonymity as I'm sure there will come that day...😕
  4. I love my Levoit. I haven't had it long enough to have to change the filter, so I can't comment about the cost, although I imagine it is more than I care to spend on filters. We run it mainly when it's smoky outside or the the general air quality needs cleaning.
  5. I've never had a Facebook account as I am not into social media much. Except I have (until this past week) been able to get on Public Facebook sites with no problem (yardsales, to watch church services, to check on hours and sales of local stores, schools, education sites, local news, etc. ). Suddenly this past week, I can no longer get on any of these public sites. I've tried various computers, even the library computer. Does anyone know if the 'honeymoon is over' and now I actually have to sign up to view? Blech! I just want to get on to view information I want to see, but not be inundated with everyone else's postings, etc. Any help on how to do that? Thanks!
  6. @Pawz4me So sorry to hear about your dog. But thanks for taking the time to write. A thundershirt is worth the try for sure. All good advice, hmmm, will have to try the 'oh, hey we are having fun', and hope we can find a thundershirt at the store on short notice.
  7. It's that time of the year again...I have 1 grand dog who has very good hearing. But that is not an advantage at this time of the year. The fireworks have started around us and I feel so bad for him, it makes him so nervous. We have CBD gummies for dogs and Calms Forte. I'm trying to think of the quietest place in the house for his kennel with windows closed. I was wondering what solutions anyone else uses, please post them here.
  8. Just recommending this because I find it to be a good read and wish I could read it without being interrupted by daily things I 'have' to do. I don't usually read much because I have a hard time finding a good book, but it was passed on to me. 'Into the Abyss' by Carol Shaben is based on a true story of a plane crash. She is a good writer and has fascinating details that took place in 1984. I am almost 1/2 way through it. I'm surprised that Amazon viewers didn't give it a better rating. True, sometimes the author did stray from the actual plot which was finding the plane. But overall, I felt it was interesting. Good for a summer read I feel.
  9. I'm so sorry for your loss. I read a fascinating book by Hospice Nurse Maggie Calanan called Final Journeys. She wrote of several examples of this same thing. I believe it to be true. When my mom was nearing the end of life, she would sometimes 'see' other people and asked what they were doing there. She was going through some medical issues, but did get better for another year or 2 before she had a final stroke and passed. But I was comforted knowing that perhaps my dad or grandmother had 'come' for her.
  10. Over the years I have heard people say they were always afraid of clowns as kids because they looked creepy. I don't mean to offend anyone, but many of the drag story hour queens I've seen images of when I google them aren't much different than a clown. Some are actually very creepy in my opinion. I don't understand how they don't see the parallel. Don't get mad over my comment, it's just a thought. Let kids be kids. There were plenty of characters dressed up on TV years ago, men pretending to be women. But the humor was appreciated more by older kids and adults. Childhood is too short. I don't see it as a 'need' to expose kids so early through a story hour.
  11. I'll admit that I like wearing my Birkenstocks. I don't wear them often, but when I do, they feel like a massage under my arches. I'm sorry they don't work out for ya'll, they are expensive!
  12. https://youtu.be/uAJ6-X3ESS4 I happened to watch a Youtube video by Dr. Pradip Jamnadas, MD. I don't know anything about him, so do your own research. But he mentioned how too much sugar contributes to fatty liver, I thought about that when I read your question. He was presenting on breakfast foods and he believes we should be eating more fermented foods. And we should eat the whole fruit, rather than drinking so much juice. With fruits, we get the fiber which move sugar out of our system faster. Juices are loaded with fructose, and not much fiber, so our body converts it to fat in our liver. It's an interesting concept. I know we give kids so much more juice now than when I was a child. I had never thought of juices as a major contributor to an excess in sugar. “One of the major problems we have is fatty liver. Because the fructose gets converted to fat in your liver. Then you get fatty liver which makes one prone to inflammation, diabetes, high blood pressure, uric acid levels go up, joint problems,“ said Dr. P Jamnadas. He states we drink too much juice. We should be eating the whole fruit complete with fiber, which is good for our gut. He states children eat too much fructose. It is kind of an interesting point. I wish you well, I hope things get better for you.
  13. I've had more venous procedures done than I want to admit for my age, the last one just 3 weeks ago. But it wasn't an endovenous procedure (which I may have had in the past) and I will have to ask why I had a micro ambulatory phlebectomy rather than what you are having. (If endovenous is the same as a laser, she had said it wasn't for me this time. ) VV run in my family, so they will keep coming back for me. If it runs in your family, you will have to get used to the veins, sorry! I just know that my incisions were only a mm or 2, rather than 1 cm, as in the past, pleasantly surprised. No stitches, just steri-strips covered with Coban (ace bandage), removed after 24 hours. Also, I had to wear my stocking for 3 days, night and day, before taking them off to shower, and wear daily now for at least 6 weeks. Dr. also recommended using Arnica gel for bruising, which I apply 2x a day. Make sure you go over your post-procedure well before hand. I feel that part got glossed over. Surprisingly, I needed no antibiotics as in the past and had no problem. But the sheet said to take 3-4 tablets 3x a day of Motrin for 7-10 days. Or Aleve 2 tablets, 2x a day for 7-10 days to help with inflammation. (Maybe your procedure won't have as much inflammation). Anyway, I wasn't that uncomfortable, I only took tablets for 1 day. But I felt like the amount suggested was a lot, I usually opt for more natural supplements. So I didn't take anything after that and wonder if its just needed for comfort, or if it would have had some other benefit. I didn't feel like there was much swelling. But take for 7-10 days? That's a lot. Not sure why! So yeah, if you can go over post-care before the procedure when you have time to think through questions, do that. After the procedure, they put my stocking on me using this aide: https://www.amazon.com/Original-Doff-Donner-Sleeve/dp/B00AWDRP62/ref=sr_1_3?crid=KD72WMGK8N2A&keywords=doff+n+donner+compression+socks+aid&qid=1685481588&sprefix=duff+n+do%2Caps%2C228&sr=8-3 Woah, what a game changer! It may take time to learn how to use it but I'm ordering 1! Also, put up some freezer meals for you and your family ahead of time, so even once you are up and around, you won't have to be on your feet much for at least the first week. Hope all goes well, and please update us with your experience. I have to agree, this is one topic that is hard to find information on. It's nice to get other's opinions for sure.
  14. I'm so sorry for your loss. Holding you and your family in prayer.
  15. Or you could make little appetizer sandwiches with liver sausage or spam?🤢 Pot pies. And if you make a casserole, don't forget the pimentos. It seemed all the casseroles contained pimentos, and I used to wonder, where do those things come from? What are they before they get chopped? Just ewww... And for dessert, don't forget the 7-layer bars: graham cracker crumbs made with and melted butter, chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, coconut, nuts and topped with sweetened condensed milk. They were gooey delicious, but whoa, so sweet. I wouldn't be able to stomach those anymore!
  16. Or use a birdcam such as this. This has a lot of activity: http://webcams.org.ua/eng-live-live-bird-feeder-cam.html
  17. We just attended my homeschooled through high school daughter's graduation ceremony where she got her master's degree in counseling. It was the most meaningful graduation ceremony I have ever attended. Maybe it was just me, but it was very well done. Congratulations 2023 graduates!!🎓🎓
  18. Yes, maybe try this for sure, put up a few decorations. Maybe the Mom-to-be can open the gift from Grandma on facetime... share pictures, eat together etc.
  19. I really liked all that they had online. But when it came out eons ago, we were already doing different things like WTM and K12. I used the Core Knowledge free downloads as supplementals to what we were doing. I remember the history paralleled well with k12's Ancient history at the time. I later found these manuals on sale: https://www.ebay.com/itm/325585479735?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-117182-37290-0&mkcid=2&mkscid=101&itemid=325585479735&targetid=1263104805526&device=c&mktype=&googleloc=9033761&poi=&campaignid=19860654916&mkgroupid=148297085498&rlsatarget=pla-1263104805526&abcId=9305063&merchantid=6296724&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIk6LXtuza_gIV-wOtBh1EjgJnEAQYByABEgICl_D_BwE It has a plethora of information, but I never really used it as we were on to other things. Just use bits and pieces as you see fit, you can't go wrong...
  20. I'm so sorry for your loss, that is so hard. Keeping all of you in my prayers.
  21. The answer may be in your washer machine. Do you close the doors when not in use, thereby trapping moisture within the door gasket? Mold often grows in there, often leaving the laundry to smell moldy. Running the washer on hot with bleach without clothes (to clean the washer) may help some. Try opening up the gaskets by hand to see if they are moldy inside and see what you can do to clean within that area. If terribly bad, you may need to replace the washer. Google it to see what else can be done...
