  1. About 2 years ago, my teeth began to get very sensitive within a WEEK of using the free Crest Gum Detoxify that my dentist gave me. A friend of mine told me to avoid toothpastes that contain PEG (polyethylene glycols) because it is carcinogenic. Although I don't see that specific term on the toothpaste now (I looked it up), I believe it was there a few years ago. I know some of the other toothpastes we had contained it. (And if you look up harmful ingredients in toothpaste, more is listed.) This is absolutely absurd and unacceptable! I threw out the Crest detoxify tube right away and ordered 'Remineralizing Tooth Powder' made by Living Well with Dr. Michelle. She is a holistic dentist who educates about more than just keeping teeth clean. She has great Instagram posts and I've included her Facebook link below. Did my sensitivities go away? Undoubtedly, yes and it didn't take long. I don't have as much calcification on my teeth either. I know this because my dentist isn't scraping away at me anymore when I go for my check-ups like he used to. BTW, I don't receive any kickbacks from recommending this product and I have no affiliations. I do hope you will learn more about poor ingredients in toothpastes and make a switch! https://livingwellwithdrmichelle.com/ Total Care Dental | American Fork UT | Facebook
  2. Sheesh! I wonder if these book banners ever go to the beach. A kiss as seen in that cartoon? I wonder if they ever see the backside of a teen and older (front sides too) at the beach recently? If they want to complain about something, I think they should start there.
  3. I would consider consider recording on your phone on the sly, even if its voice recording. They may eventually fix their behavior due to what your remarks are, but not always. I can see them possibly ganging up further on you. But if so, then you have specific examples to share with your supervisor.
  4. The missing knob on your machine...it reminds me of an old tv set we had years ago. We used to use pliers to turn the silver post in the middle...and it worked just fine! 😄 Just had to say that small adaptations can be made. But I hope the rest of it will work out for you. Take a deep breath and try to enjoy the rest of your place. I saw the pics and it looks super nice!!
  5. Sorry this is giving you trouble. I had one for years and worked fine. I would check out Craigslist FB Marketplace. I 've seen them for sale there.
  6. So great to hear, that was quite the ordeal! Onward and upward!
  7. I did a week or 2 volunteer vacation many decades (how can that be?!) ago. I worked on a segment of the Appalachian trail and absolutely loved it. I stayed at Bascom Lodge, Mt. Greylock. I know thru hikers stayed there and other guests. I just found links if she is ever in that area. Also, found links for you to glimpse over. about the Appalachian trail and others. You might get an idea of what else may be needed under 'resources.' If she is in that area, I know the sunsets were gorgeous and that was the highlight of the evening. Perhaps a small pair of lightweight binoculars? Although we never had a threat of bears or even thought of them, bear bells and a small can of bear spray would be good anywhere. Moleskin for blistered toes and a light shammy towel is nice and lightweight. Would she use a hiking stick? Depends also if she is just doing quick day hikes. Maybe one of those packs that hold water and you have the tubes coming out of it? Extra water for the dog and a foldable bowl. All the suggestions above are good ones too! 8. Shoot, I didn't see this until today. We cooked our turkey in a foil pain, covered in foil for years on our gas grill. I swear that's the best way, most of the mess is outside. It cooks more quickly than in the oven and is just as moist. Windy days slow it down, so try to figure something out for that. We have done ours in a roaster outside for 2 years now. Hope your turkey day went well anyway!
  9. I'd do what Bambam said and keep it elevated as much as you can (even though there is no swelling). I crunched a few fingers very badly this summer and thought I'd be heading to the ER. But I got home and nothing was broke, I could move fingers although 1 looked wonky. I kept elevated from the start which I think was key, and applied ice, etc. It took a few months for everything to look fine again, but I'm glad I didn't rush in. All is fine. I hope this will be the best for you too. Sounds like something I've done recently too with cooking and all is well.
  10. Our methods sound the same🤣 Maybe try Ace Hardware? You know, like stay away from the big box stores and try the small hometown shops such as Ace.
  11. Well, it looks healthy! But I agree, it looks like it would enjoy a little bit bigger pot. That just might do the trick. I never put mine outside, it would bake too much in the summer. So it has never felt a breeze and we don't have air conditioning. But now that I think of it, there is an air duct right above the plants when the furnace turns on. We don't keep the room super warm though, so my guess is that's why the plants don't dry out. I don't see any buds on it, so maybe it is a Christmas or even an Easter cactus? You have something to look forward to though. Share again when it blooms!
  12. I don't do anything special except ignore mine and water maybe every few weeks. Yes, I'm pretty careless with my plants! These 2 links give good advice, I watch Garden Answer often. The only thing I did that she recommends was to give it cactus soil, which I did this summer and fertilized it then. Mine is in a smaller pot ( this is about 4" across by about 5" high) as they like to be kind of root bound. Put it in the dark? I never have. Mine faces an eastern window with the neighbor's garage light on, so it is never in complete darkness. Also, it's in a room with a large picture window that faces south, so it is bright in there. but only gets morning sun on it. The only thing I can think of is we keep that room very cool at night, like 62, if not cooler. We get 4 seasons as well and our climate is very dry. I don't add extra humidity at all. Mine blooms a second time around Easter and I noticed last year that there were some buds that never bloomed. Mine is a few years old and needed a larger pot by then. But, idk, hope you can figure something out, yes they are a joy to have when they bloom! 5 Reasons your Christmas Cactus Won't Bloom - YouTube How to Care for Christmas Cactus 🌵🎄 // Garden Answer - YouTube
  13. Sorry this happened just before your trip, that is always the way. I often go with natural methods as much as possible, especially drinking hot water with about a tsp. of cider vinegar. You can put honey in if you want and I know it doesn't taste the best, but it is good to help with breathing. There are apple cider tablets, but I think the real thing helps more quickly. Do this in addition to your meds. Drink 2-3 times a day and of course remember to increase your fluids. This may sound crazy also, but I do an eye rinse daily to help keep chalazions at bay. I use a few pinches of the saline salt used for nasal rinse in about 1/4 inch of very warm water. I pour that over cotton balls and soak/wipe each eye separately so as not to cross contaminate. I continue warm soaks until the water is gone. This should help relieve the gunk I would think. I would do that initially 3x a day. Give it a try, you have nothing to lose! Hope you feel better soon!
  14. I'd love an infrared sauna. But that'll be some time away. Still purging homeschool stuff and other mementos (too slowly, I might add). So until I can make room, it'll have to wait.
  15. This has helped our chowhounds: Amazon.com : Outward Hound Fun Feeder Slo Bowl, Slow Feeder Dog Bowl, Large/Regular, Turquoise : Pet Feeding Stations : Pet Supplies Costco carried them a few years ago, Idk if they still do. It ran about $10 at the time and was orange.
  16. Not at all. I just went over the packaging. The sides are heat sealed, with 1 small opening where a pencil could fit in. But not large enough to get that kind of moisture in. It was kind of like someone picked up the bag with wet hands? I just don't want to know...! I'll contact Amazon for sure!
  17. Great suggestions, thanks all. This would be helpful for them for sure. I hadn't thought about that. Good idea, because if it is something else, even if I were careful to open the package, I wouldn't want any to get on the food. And wash hands for sure.
  18. I placed an Amazon order of 2 items which came separately, with the sealed bag of chocolate chips in a bubble wrap envelope with no tears. I reached my hand in and thought, that's weird, I'm pretty sure my hands were dry but now my fingers are wet. I looked at my hand and yep, moisture. So I pulled the chocolate chips out and the gift receipt and small printout of the name of the item. Yep, the papers were all the way damp. The package of chips were a bit wet as well, like maybe they had been in a grocery cart on the way to the car and got sprinkled a bit with rain (the best way I can describe it). If the item had been a paperback, I would not have been happy with it. Although not soaked, pages would have gotten a bit warped. But it's a food item, although sealed. It looks like water. But, what the heck?! What do you think, should I contact Amazon and complain? What are your thoughts or what would you do?
  19. I agree with Corbster98. Her story was very similar to when my dad died also. Be glad you were there, even to support the others. I'm sorry for your loss. Praying.
  20. So much going on for this young man. I'm glad they are figuring things out. Praying for all of you...
  21. Please let me know if leaves work well as a mulch for vegetable gardens? The first year I had a raised bed, I was quite happy with 5'tall and wide tomato plants and more zucchini than I ever had before. So even with the success of my garden, my soil was actually pretty poor, I felt. No worms and needed more mulch. It just didn't seem 'alive'. So I overwintered with more manure, maybe added sphagnum moss and covered with mulched leaves. At planting time, I moved the leaves aside (but mulched some in) then planted and may have mulched plants too early (to help retain moisture on top of soil). It seems my garden didn't do as well in my 2nd year (except for green beans and carrots). Now after another fall clean-up, I'm happy to be seeing worms. So I wonder if I had a nitrogen problem, thus the reason my tomatoes did ok, but not super. Even though I just covered the garden with leaves again, I am wondering if this was the best choice or should I have used straw? I now know not to turn the remaining leaves into the soil next spring and will wait until the soil is warmer before mulching on top. Any advice is welcome!
  22. A friend of ours did that. She had an early American type home, and the decorations matched. I always enjoyed the cozy, warm feeling. BTW, I am thinking of decorating before Thanksgiving also. I skipped the Halloween decorations, so I am more prepared to jump right in!
  23. Why not take magnesium supplements now and have a good HOT Epsom salt soak? That would feel good anyway for all your aches. Hope you feel better soon!
  24. Wool dryer balls Wooden handled brushes, toothbrushes...and other earth friendly healthier products such as toothpaste, lotions... Movie or theater tickets or entry to other events Gift cards to juice bars or other natural food restaurants, etc. We have a store that sells very nice items out of reclaimed materials. These are all made by women in Africa , so it's a win-win to buy from here. I once bought a cool wallet made out of bicycle tires. Very nice quality. Look on Etsy if you don't have a similar store in your area.
