  1. Thank you, Corraleno and Katilac. DD is not close to a decision about her future college yet; I do know some colleges in our area that take no CLEP tests and others that take all or close to all.
  2. My DD is planning on taking some dual-enrollment courses and CLEP tests to earn college credit while finishing high school. She is planning on a career in health care. Generally, she will take DE courses for the science and math requirements of her major and use CLEP tests to fulfill other basic GE requirements. I am wondering whether my DD should take the Psychology CLEP or a DE course. I would appreciate your knowledge.
  3. Beth, I am sorry that your family is facing this. It is awful! I am glad you can share your feelings here and that you now have many more people praying for your family.
  4. Thanks! I looked these stores up online and was browsing through their tops. There are a lot more "forgiving" ones than I was expecting. Now I just need to plan a day to go to the stores and try them on.
  5. Funda Funda has an American history video curriculum list that you could use, accessing videos from the library, NetFlix, or other places. You could also supplement with history books from the public library near you. There are great lists on this forum that can help you make up a plan for your year.
  6. I need to buy some tops for summer, some casual and some a bit more formal. I am looking for ones that aren't form-fitting. Do you have any recommendations for stylish, short-sleeved tops that flare out a little at the waist (or that can hide a little weight around the middle)?
  7. Is this the list? http://buildyourlibrary.com/multi-grade-teaching-an-example/
  8. Sorry-- didn't say that well. U brand is thinner than other Kotex brands. My daughter also prefers them over Tampax. She doesn't want to use OB brand.
  9. I do remember being told, here on this wonderful forum, about Stephen F. Austin State University. I will check into their World Regional Geography, but I welcome other recommendations.
  10. My daughter is interested in taking either Physical Geography or Human Geography online as a dual-enrollment course. I am considering the Human Geography course through Brigham Young Independent Study, but it is $534 and more, once you factor in the proctoring of tests. If you know anything about BYIS that I should know or have recommendations for another provider, please share.
  11. This has been so helpful. I didn't know that clothing was made just for the outlet, but that could explain the shoddy garments I purchased at Loft outlet. I am excited to have some new store recommendations. Thanks to everyone for sharing.
  12. What are the good brands of "expensive" clothes or the stores that you rely on for providing high-quality clothing that will last? I'm asking because I bought my daughter 2 pairs of dress slacks and 3 sweaters at the Loft outlet store this past year. The seams at the bottom of the pants' legs came out of both pair of pants within 2 wears and the bottom of the sweaters don't want to lay flat. I thought the Loft sold high-quality clothing, but my experience doesn't prove that. I would be interested in hearing your recommendations for both male and female clothing lines and/or stores. Thanks!

  14. Hi. A few years ago, College Board adopted a new policy for students younger than 13. Here's the information copied from their website: For Test-Takers Under the Age of 13 The U.S. Federal Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) requires website operators to obtain parent/guardian consent before collecting personal information from children under 13 years of age. As a result, if your child is under the age of 13 she/he cannot create an account on My Account. You must download and complete the CLEP Account Creation Consent Form and return it by fax to 610-628-3726 or by U.S. mail to CLEP, PO Box 6600, Princeton, NJ 08541-6600. We are happy to create the account on your child’s behalf. Please note: processing of the form and creation of the test-taker’s account can take up to 7 business days to complete.
  15. Thanks for sharing this. I am looking forward to reading through the website and sharing some of the articles with my daughter.
  16. Jennifer, I'm nowhere near driving distance. However, I wanted to tell you that I would definitely be interested in attending a retreat like the one you are hosting. It sounds awesome. I would be interested in the specifics of sharing truth, beauty, and goodness---as in, strategies to implement the vision. Enjoy!
  17. My daughter is in a local orchestra. She played volleyball this year and wants to continue in high school. She is interested in science and is considering a career in healthcare. One thing I think she may really enjoy is serving as a camp counselor at a Christian camp close to our home. Right now, we are looking into possible year-round programs. Thanks for sharing some great ideas!
  18. Thank you all for giving me ideas and information. I am glad to hear the positives about these different programs. And, Carol in CA, I agree with you. Thanks for posting.
