You said you focus on one poem and speech per month; do you have a specific method for memorization and review or do you just read each title a certain number of times per month?

If you decide not to put your oldest in Lukeion Latin I, another option you could consider is Coram Deo Tutorials (Jessica Shao). She offers a self-paced Latin class (recorded video instruction w/ weekly homework that she grades) and she offers private tutoring. Her instruction is based on Wheelock's Latin. My daughter had several private lessons with Jessica, and we found her to be professional, knowledgeable, and kind. I would recommend her.

JadeOrchidSong, My daughter completed Lukeion I (6th grade), Lukeion II (7th grade), and CAP's Latin IV (8th grade). Lukeion is more intense than CAP, but I liked the progression from Lukeion to CAP. When my daughter was in 6th and 7th grade, her other academic coursework was less strenuous; this allowed her to give more attention to Lukeion's demanding classes. In 8th grade my daughter's coursework and extra-curricular activities were going to be more demanding, and I didn't think Lukeion Latin III would be a good fit for my daughter. I enrolled my daughter in CAP's Latin IV, which, as G5052 said, was a nurturing class.

I agree that your son should call the registrar and ask how the courses will be listed on the official transcript. Then use that as your guide.

When I was thinking about the comment "no CLEPS or online courses," I did wonder how the end college would know a course was online (since it wouldn't be noted on the transcript). However, I was figuring that info. could be in the course description. Is there a certain site or resource that you've come to depend on for accurate rankimgs of schools?

Thanks again, Lori D. Right now, DD is planning on a total of 3 non-STEM CLEPs, all taken at the end of 9th grade or sometime during 10th grade. She is also planning on taking 2 online courses during 9th grade. Beginning in 10th grade, DD is planning on taking on-campus DE courses at a local university. I think my DD will want to stay in state and pretty close to home after high school, which helps us narrow down her possible choices for an end college.

I just read a post where someone said if a student was going into medical school, he/she should not do any CLEP or online classes. I'm wondering if this comment was in reference to science and math classes or to all courses. Since my daughter is considering a field in healthcare and was planning on taking a few CLEP tests and online classes for her non-STEM general ed. classes (history, government, english), I am now wondering if we should reevaluate our long-range plans. What do you think?

My daughter took Latin I & II with Lukeion and Latin IV with another provider. I'm wondering how I should label this on the transcript. Should I use these specific course titles (to match provider transcripts), noting at the bottom of DD's transcript that Latin III was skipped, or should I label them I, II, & III, and put a note in DD's Latin III course description explaining that this provider's Latin IV was used for the Latin III credit?

Oh, I forgot about Lime Ricky! I remember seeing it recommended here in the past. Thanks for the other recommendations, too. It will be fun to look through their online offerings.
