  1. You know, we use Rod and Staff right now (2nd grade), but will be switching to the Veritas Comprehension Guides next year for reading and Phonics Pathways to keep phonics fresh. Plus, we just started Spelling Power and I LOVE it!! Rod and Staff has a great foundation, and is really challenging for the child that excels at reading IMO. However, I'm finding the reading part of it contains too much writing for my daughter. Also, since it's all Bible stories, I discovered that she wasn't really comprehending what she read, she had the stories memorized  So, we've scrapped the Reading curriculum, we'll finish this year's phonics, and then we'll only be using the English next year. My youngest will be in K next year and I'm totally going with ETC and Phonics Pathways, then FLL for 1st.
  2. Our schools use Everyday Math. I've known that for years because I hear all the Moms complain about it at our extra curriculars. The biggest complaint from them is they have to "teach" it each night. The child comes home and the parent has a "Parent's Guide" that has the homework assignment and the lesson they are supposed to complete. I say, if you're doing an hour or more of homework each night, you might as well be homeschooling :)
  3. We've used a lot of different resources for science. I've stuck with the "order" of the WTM, but used various Usborne books, these great little books called "Made by God" that you can get from Rainbow Resource (they're less than $5.00 each), and this year, we're using "Considering God's Creation." I love CGC, but we won't go the whole way through. We'll only get through Earth Science and then use "God's Design for Chemistry" next year. Blessings!
  4. Considering God's Creation - otherwise it looks like you've got them all covered for science. We could get out the Rainbow Resource Catalog and go through the index :D I really like the new boards! Poll away!
  5. :p I love moments like that! I plan on using Jeannie Fulbright's books on the next go-round. I wish she had something on chemistry. I'm thinking about using God's Design for chemistry, but haven't decided. We'll see!
  6. I vote for Usborne too. I love Usborne, and I think Jeannie Fulbright's books are for 4th and up right?
  7. This is my first post on the new board! :) We use Veritas Press. We're currently doing Old Testament/Ancient Egypt (2nd grade). We really like the flow and I don't have to do as much planning as with other classical programs. Blessings!
