  1. The clothes he came home from the hospital in, books he loved, the hand drawn checkerboard the nurses put in his crib hand made quilts. His first Bible.
  2. My favorites are the free ones. I have amassed quite a collection (teacher related mostly) and have never paid for any of them.
  3. Don Henly came to the grocery store I used to work at-in his hometown and I spoke to him then. Bill Clinton visited our church campmeeting more than once. I was there, but didn't meet him. I grew up with Les Taylor's (from the group Exile) wife. Arnold Swarzenegger boarded a plane just before my group did when I went to Barcelona.
  4. We had sausage jambalya and corn with cream cheese.
  5. When I was six years old, my mom, sister, and I were on the way to the next town over. Mom was driving. I begged her not to make a side trip to my uncle's house and told her we would have a wreck. She ignored me and ten minutes later we ran into the back of a truck carrying a telephone pole. Luckily, she had just made us get in the back seat. She told me years later, she believed me when I said it, not sure why she ignored it though.
  6. Sometimes I am afraid to go to sleep, but that is a holdover from a bad surgery experience. :(
  7. Ants. There are millions of the tiny creatures. I will scream if I see some in the house or if one gets on my feet outside.
  8. I agree! I would have been very upset also, OP.
  9. I used to. For several years, our Sunday dinner was eggs, usually with bacon, but sometimes sausage. We had toast and sometimes grits. We never got tired of it and I loved it because I didn't have to wonder what we were having for lunch. Not sure why we stopped.
  10. The same people who came up with the idea the students in my resource class with learning disabilities must pass the same standardized test. And their scores are figured in with the rest of the test takers.
  11. I haven't read all the replies, but this is what works for me. I went through five and a half years of allergy shots, and I really can't tell it helped. What does help is to take allergy meds every day, even when not showing symptoms. They are just part of my nightly meds routine. Right now I use zyrtec. I used to take benadryl, but stopped because of the mental implications. One way allergy symptoms was explained to me that made sense was to think of your body as a bucket (sorry). When the bucket gets full, you have allergy symptoms. If you can keep the bucket from becoming full, you won't get sick with symptoms. Hope you feel better soon. Incidentally, I order my zyrtec from amazon-it's cheaper. I do use name brand.
  12. For your peace of mind, you could go to a walk in clinic.
  13. Right now- Galveston and Port Aransas Texas. Dh and I love the beach. We have been three times this year, starting with spring break. Planning to go back the week of Thanksgiving.
  14. It will be our first day of public school. The elementary principal sent out a message earlier that the viewing instruments were causing some safety concerns, so all our classes will be staying inside with live streaming.
  15. Perhaps the best thing to do would be to put a drop of vanilla extract near his seat before he comes in. The cost difference would be an added benefit.
  16. They are allowed. Most teachers just use a scentsy, but I don't want to worry about leaving it on. One of my student's is calmed by the scent of vanilla. It is a resource classroom with very few students at one time, but if there are problems, I will re-evaluate.
  17. I am not sure what I need, but here is the problem. In my new classroom, all the outlets are horizontal. I want to use plug in scented products, but they are made for vertical outlets, at least the ones I have found. I was hoping there is an adapter, but a quick amazon search does not show one available. Any clues?
  18. I have had fresh from the garden pintos, and they can be cooked immediately after shelling. They can also be blanched and frozen in ziplocs. They do taste different than regular pintos, but in a good way. I will never forget the year my dad bought a pound of dry pintos from the store and planted them in the garden. They made a bumper crop.
  19. So glad for you!! Congratulations!!
  20. Praying for you. Please update when you can.
  21. I have been taking 1000 mg daily for several years and do not have negative side effects.
  22. Vitamin C- I take 1000 mg daily and am rarely sick, even though I work in a public school. Mucinex is also a good choice.
