  1. My kids get confused with the order, they thought Jesus came before the flood. We are using the student pages without the timeline... We started ancient history this year, our chronological walk through history is clearing up the confusion and reinforcing things that have already been introduced.
  2. We do 1/2 page of Pentime cursive, the short sentence in WWE for copy work and 2 pages of Miquon. Writing in our house involves much wailing and gnashing of teeth :-/
  3. www,educationunboxed.com the videos on this site explain fractions so well my, very average, 3 yr old understands. My 6 yr olds are working through Miquon, the curriculum many of the vids are based on, and they are doing great with fractions.
  4. A super wonderful WTMer bought a huge lot of large size coils from mybinding.com then generously offered to share at cost plus shipping. That's how I got mine. I printed off BFSU vol 1, sorted it in the order we are using it then proclicked and bound it. I think it's 400+ pages so 200+ double sided printing. I'm ony phone and too lazy to find the thread to link...
  5. Hits: Miquon, FLL (I had no idea my boys would love memorizing poetry so much!). Anything with coloring pages i.e. SOTW, TGS, SSL. Misses: MEP, 2 days in and they mutinied.
  6. Take it to the next level and get some large 3:1 spirals, a table saw, and go CRAZY! Is there 12 step program for pro click addicts?
  7. I felt that way last year, our first year. This year it doesn't phase me :-)
  8. Yay! It's at 40% that works for me, 50% would be nice too.
  9. I bought "Timeline of Classics" by Gail Ledbetter. It has a chronological list of books, movies, biographies, etc from Ancient to modern day. The books have age group suggestions. I use ToC to pick books for everyone. I find it insanely convenient.
  10. We started with Ecclesiastical then switched to classical. We are studying Latin for the vocabulary and logic benefits. I started with ecc thinking I'd take the kids to a Latin Catholic mass to hear spoken Latin. I'm finding more resources in classical so I switched. On the off chance my kids pursue Latin beyond grade school it should be an easy transition. Another vote for Classical albeit a weak vote :-)
  11. I have no advice for you. We are 4 weeks into 1st grade using SOTW and WWE. I let my boys roll around with an exercise ball while we read, they don't appear to be paying attention but they manage to answer most of the questions correctly. I know that's no help but wanted to give you a comparison.
  12. I committed to buy at 40%. I see there are more conditional orders than current orders. If 200 people conditionally order at 50% but not enough people commit to ordering at a lower percentage to get to the 50% discount will the 200 conditional orders be considered? Am I making any sense? :-)
  13. The big take away from FlyLady is her timer! It's amazing how clean my house can stay when I set a timer and the kids and I spend just 5-10 min in each room every other day. We are a barefoot family and jammies are the norm! But I still love FlyLady! She'd likely have a heart attack if she saw my kids doing half their lessons orally, hanging upside down from a pull-up bar or bouncing on a balance ball. Martha Stewart won't be dropping by our house nor will we be featured on Hoarders anytime soon :-)
  14. My kids would revolt if we tried to do an entire fluency page, it's too much! We do the top line of every segment one day, the 2nd the next and so on. Sometimes we even skip some of the fluency pages. Level 2 fluency pages are longer.... I have my kids read a portion of the fluency pages during school time, at bed time I have them pick a story or 2 from the level 1 readers. My kids are not fluent, fluency practice pages are not our path to fluency. Don't abandon the program, abandon the fluency pages!
  15. Check out www.educationunboxed.com for help with mental math. IMHO it is worth the effort to learn good mental math strategies. Hopefully the gurus will chime in on your WWE question.
  16. Pst the year 2 AG is on Amazon for a mere $3 and change. I bought it to check out before purchasing YR1, we are happy with TGS.
  17. I'm using it with 3 kids, does that count? :-) I have them color while I read the story then we discuss. So far we haven't had any attention issues which is odd for my crew but we do it right after breakfast. Good luck!
  18. When a nice gesture is abused the giver is less likely to be as generous in the future. I'd like to know what the original intent of the sale was. I hope those taking advantage of this sale are doing so with a thankful heart not the heart of a glutton.
  19. Thanks! I use expanded notation to teach place value but never thought of doing it this way. I spent all morning printing, cutting, laminating, and cutting some more! We now have nifty laminated, color coded, place value cards out to the hundred thousands!
  20. I think it's highly unethical. I've been holding my tongue around the braggarts.
  21. I've seen people bragging about putting $0.00 in for prices... I'm not sure that was the intent. CurrClick had to see that coming.
  22. I've only gotten confirmation on orders shipped UPS, I don't recall any confirmation on media mail orders. I get annoyed with RR's shipping policies but I'm still a loyal customer :-)
