  1. check out confessions of a homeschooler, homeschool creations, 1plus1plus1equal1
  2. I'm also wondering what Classical Phonics in MP goes to first -- long vowels or consonant blends? Thanks to anyone who can help :)
  3. Has any one tried Sequential Spelling? I like the idea of only having one manual, and having a child learn from there -- rules, then spelling in their own notebook. Are there any others out there that only have one book to buy (or that and a student book) -- I just hate all the extras that come with AAS and LoE -- I have been looking on both websites and it just seems so overwhelming..... I'd like to look at Spelling Power, but they don't have any preview lessons on their site?
  4. I am interested in knowing the sequence of MFW1? I know some phonics programs begin with consonant blends (beginning and ending) before even cvce words. Just wondering which supplement is best to compliment it -- ETC (consonant blends first) or Primary Phonics (vowel digraphs, etc first). Thanks!!!
  5. Thanks everyone! I think we will just go with MFW K and then plan on MFW 1, but know that I may need some phonics, reading supplement depending on his level. Thanks, Paradox for all the acronym help :)
  6. Also, do you have the link to the CLP Nature Reader? I am interested in that! I think I want to have more handwriting practice than just reading, you know?
  7. Does anyone know how I can look into the SRA workbooks? I want to supplement MFW 1 with it (volumes 1 and 2?), but want to see what it looks like first! Thanks!!!
  8. I want to do MFW K and then 1, but I know the 1 goes a bit fast with the phonics, what should I get from the MP curriculum to supplement? The First Start Reading series, or the SRA? Or is there another better program out there? (I already have ETC). THANKS! I want to use MP bc I see how valuable the phonics learning is, but others have convinced me that the sequence of MFW is best, so just want to supplement :) THANKS!!!!
  9. Thank you!! May I ask what CP stands for and OPGTR? (new to this :) ) I think I'll stick with MFW K and go to 1, but add some type of phonics between and during 1 because I've heard it moves so fast, that way 1 can be a year and a half or so. I like the progression of the Christian Liberty Publications readers, so I think I will order all 6 from the publisher too. What phonics is the best to supplement MFW 1? THANKS :) :)
  10. EgoElfWife, I want to start MFW K, but bought the TM from my aunt, so I don't have a grid. If you have a template of some sort, I'd love to see it, if you'd be willing!!! Bummed that I don't have the 2nd ed., but I bought it from her, and have the 2nd ed. sheets.... Thanks!!!!
  11. I have spoken with a lot of parents who say that the MFW K was perfect for their child, but they did it for "PreK" or wish they had because it was slow moving, heavy in science and art, like it should be for a very young child! So I want to know if going into Memoria Press K curriculum will be too monotonous for a child after doing MFW K? I don't want to jump right into MFW 1st because I have seen that it jumps too quickly into long vowels, etc. Memoria Press also has much more practice with handwriting, etc, so I think that next year of really drilling handwriting and basic phonics will be good.... but perhaps I just need to know where my son is at and if he's reading very well, we probably don't need to do Memoria Press? I am just a planner and like to be organized beforehand :) (I want to go back to MFW for 1st and beyond because I love how they incorporate social studies and the Bible.) Thanks for any help and/or suggestions! My main question is where does MP K end? Do they go into long vowels? How fast does it move? THANKS!!!!!:)
