  1. I am looking for ideas for books and short stories to share with my 4th and 6th graders this year. I realized as I was planning our school year that some of our fondest homeschool memories are books we've shared and discussed. Please give me your favorites to share and discuss with a 10 and 12 year old. Thanks in advance.
  2. I think I finally decided. Grammar: FLL3 Spelling: Spelling Power Writing: Intro to Composition and some Evan Moor books Math: Math Mammoth Literature: MP 3rd Grade selections w/o guides Other: MP Poetry for Grammar Stage MP Christian Studies MP Greek Myths MP American History Books Something for French??? Hoffman Academy Drawing is Basic
  3. Drawing is Basic is recommended in the WTM. I'm looking for reviews. Anyone use this? I can only find it at Rainbow Resource and there is not much of sample. Thanks, Emily
  4. My kids liked readingbear.org as a supplement.
  5. https://shop.scholastic.com/shop/en/tso/Scholastic-Printables-Annual-Subscription Anyone here use this? I have tried the Evan Moor Teacher File Box before. I was wondering how this compares. What worksheets are available? How are they organized? Can anyone give me a review? Thanks, Emily
  6. Thanks anyway. I wish it was still free. Ugh!
  7. Do you have a link for the free curriculum?
  8. Thanks for all the suggestions and especially the links. I can't wait to check these out.
  9. My 7yo ds dislikes story of the world volume 1. (except the ancient Egypt chapters). We have dropped SOTW for now and have been just reading books on ancient Egypt. I asked what is he is interested in studying next. He wants to read about Vikings and castles. Anyone have any favorite resources for Viking or castles for this age? Thanks, Emily
  10. I have found a lot of free resources by googling the book title with the word "crafts" or "activities" or "unit". My DS6 and DD4 are both reading on a 2nd/3rd grade level with no interest in chapter books. I am planning on using the following: VP First Favorites 1 & 2, More Favorites Picture Book Activities Teaching With Favorite Arnold Lobel Books (got this during $1 sale) Teaching With Favorite Leo Lionni Books (also got during $1 sale--there are other titles as well)
  11. My dd is 3 and she has been begging me to teach her to read for a long time. We started in August with readingbear.org and reading Bob books. She loves it and is making good progress. I have Phonics Pathways that I am using with her brother. She is now asking to do that as well. They also like to play games. Good luck with whatever you choose.
  12. I tried FIAR and couldn't make it work. I still think it is a great program. I wanted to love it, but I didn't. I have purchased the MP Kindergarten enrichment guide. I have spent some time reading through and I think it will be a better fit for us. The things I like about MP Enrichment vs FIAR: The layout is in outline/check the box format. FIAR is written as paragraphs. I kept losing my place and felt very disorganized using FIAR. The history and culture and science sections offer less choices. (This may be a drawback for some). I felt overwhelmed by the choices in FIAR. MP incl
  13. Some of the Bob book sets on the kindle are on sale for .99 All sets are available in the prime lending library. Hope this helps someone.
