  1. 1.Bookkeeping for last 4 months. (dh is self-employed, my Mum used to do the books be she retired and now it's my job). 2.Ironing.
  2. My accent is strongly North-East Scottish, since that is where I have always lived. I have an American friend, and she says that when I put on an American accent it is like taking a veil off my voice.
  3. I'm trying to grow more of my own fruit and veg, but anything I need to buy I always look for organic and buy that if it is available.
  4. We are completely on our own! But we like it better that way.:001_smile:
  5. When each of my youngest 3 turned 3 (approximately) we threw a 'Pants Party'. They each knew about their party well in advance and the younger ones heard the tales of the previous glorious occasions when the older siblings had their parties. The whole extended family came to each party, bearing gifts of underpants and even a pants-shaped cake. We had lots of yummy food, music, games, and other exciting events and at one point in the proceedings the child of honour would make a speech, "I'm not a baby anymore." They each fondly remember their pants party and they were each out of nappies that day.
  6. Hello. I've been checking out these boards for a while but I'm kind of shy. I'm Debra, wife to John and Mummy to four children aged almost 5 to just-turned-16. I recently 'converted' to classical education after reading The Well-Trained Mind. We live in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. And that's about all that's even remotely interesting about me, I'm afraid. :) Enjoying the conversations here.
  7. Using an iPod during a social gathering is rude, no doubt about that. However, I would consider myself to be overstepping the bounds of good manners to point out another person's rude behaviour, especially in front of others. It is the parent's responsibility to inform her children as to what is and is not socially acceptable.
  8. http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/ Would love to know what you found.
  9. Yes! My boys love the Edge Chronicles and have persuaded me to read them too. I just started the 9th one last night. They are very imaginative and well written, IMHO. Read them yourself first, though. I think some parts could be upsetting to younger/sensitive children.
