  1. Actually, I'm much more concerned about all the fertilizers and pesticides that are damaging the environment and the wasted water that my neighbors use on their lawns to make them look good than I am about their parking on their lawns. Their parking vehicles on their lawns doesn't affect me (all of my closest neighbors have at least three vehicles per family, and one has five since there are teenagers in the family), but the pesticides and fertilizers affect my health.
  2. Strange. Who is now telling them this? Do they pay HOA dues?
  3. Also, has she had her spine checked? Problems in the upper back and neck (and even sometimes jaws) can cause headaches in the back of the head.
  4. Why Feingold? I actually think Feingold can work out well for a lot of kids with ADHD (I followed it loosely with my son), but it allows a ton of processed foods. If the mother thinks the problem is with diet, I'd concentrate on healthy foods and would do an elimination diet.
  5. I agree with Luna that Hake might be what you want. I almost bought it but decided against it because I was afraid the cheap pages would affect my chemical sensitivities. An older series (what I went with) that would probably satisfy your criteria is Warriner's. If you need a TE, though, that can be a challenge.
  6. In a previous post I said that I didn't think HOAs should be illegal. However, what you stated here SHOULD be illegal. It is beyond ridiculous in a state that has an exceptional drought and an already low water table for an HOA to have such a stupid requirement. Under these circumstances, I'd very likely fight the HOA in court.
  7. I have one 12-year-old son, who is the light of my life. After having ds, I had multiple miscarriages and then secondary infertility. I never lost the desire to have another child. However, I am now 45 years old, and my health isn't good, so I know it wouldn't be wise to get pregnant. Regardless, I use no birth control and would (perhaps stupidly) welcome a pregnancy if it somehow happened.
  8. Since people can choose whether or not to live in a community with an HOA, I wouldn't want them outlawed by any means. They work great for people who want those types of restrictions, but I certainly wouldn't want to live in one myself. My nephew lives in such a place, and he recently got a notice that says that he "needs a new roof" (not sure how the HOA determined this) and that he has ten days to get it, after which time he will be fined. I totally agree. I wouldn't want to live in a town or city like Ria's.
  9. I also use honey. We have our own beehives, so the honey I use is local and raw.

  11. A friend of mine posted it on FB (and I "reshared" it). Dh and I laughed for what seemed like hours! Did you all read the story behind it?
  12. After reading the entire thread (and initially having suggestions that others have already offered), I'd go with the voodoo doll.
  13. In my experience, when people simply refer to "subject and predicate" without specifying simple or complete, they usually mean the simple subject and predicate. It would be the same as referring to "subject and verb (or verb phrase)."
  14. I think kids did things early that helped develop their fine motor skills. Even if they weren't writing, girls were embroidering and knitting, and boys were tying knots and things like that. A lot of the toys kids have now don't encourage those skills. That is one area where I think I did a disservice to my son. I wish I had required more skills like that when he was small.
  15. Mine, too, and this includes fragrances (perfume, air freshener, candles, etc.). I'm no longer dairy-free because I was losing too much weight, but I'm gluten-free, yeast-free, soy-free, and corn-free. I went corn-free and yeast-free because I'm allergic to both, but I truly think going yeast-free would have helped me even if I were not allergic to it. My hair is still falling out, but I'm much better otherwise. After 10 years on meds, I was able to wean off my thyroid medications (the equivalent of 150 mcg of Synthroid) by changing my diet and avoiding chemicals as much as possible.
  16. I saw someone mention this earlier in the thread, but I would definitely put him on a strict dairy-free diet. I have several friends who've seen a world of difference by doing so. Good luck.
