  1. Why do so many people mention using Miquon with Singapore?
  2. Well I gave my son the 2a assessment test today. He scored a 78. His missed problems were pretty much all subtraction crossing ten. He also had a bit of trouble with numbers over 100, simply because we have only worked with numbers under 100 in MEP so far. He wrote down 67 instead of 670 for 760-90, subtracting the 9 from 76 but forgetting that the answer was 67 tens. This was in a word problem. So I guess I should start at 2a with him, maybe just doing the sections he needs.
  3. I am currently using MEP with my 8yo son, but am considering switching to Singapore because MEP is extremely teacher intensive. I am leaning towards the Standards edition because I remember reading somewhere that the HIG's are better written than the HIGs written by sonlight for the US edition?
  4. Me! I love planning out the new year... it all looks so neat and pretty on paper. LOL. Here's what I have planned for my son's 2nd grade year: Math: MEP year 2, LOF LA: Grammarland, Copywork, maybe AAS level 3 Science: Nature Study History/Geography/Literature/Science: Ambleside year 2 Reading: Reading outloud from Treadwell 3rd Reader, Silent reading from Pathway 3rd Reader Fine Arts: Drawing with Children, piano lessons
  5. I read the first 3 books to my son when he was 5-6. He really liked them. His favorite chapter in Little House in the Big Woods was the one where Pa makes bullets. LOL. My kids played bears in the woods for a long time after that book. Hmm... we should read them again.
