  1. Love the suggestions on here too especially Rosie's list. I am in the market for apps too so this is great!
  2. How does this app work? I punched in cc memory work in the search bar and it came up blank. What is it called?
  3. With the updated site, there are some threads I can't find anymore so forgive me if this has been asked... I recently purchased an iPad to use for schooling and wanted to know what apps have you found useful and are must haves, either paid or free. I also use a lot of PDF files to avoid printing unnecessarily. I have 2 iPads, 1st gen and 3rd gen (not in my possession- in route through mail). 1st gen for kids to use for schooling and 3rd gen for me. I put that out in case some apps are only compatible with some generations. I haven't really owned any apple products before so all this is new to me.
  4. I thought the way MUS teaches fractions was great till my ds cried over it in frustration. I would like to revisit it later. I think my ds was still just adjusting to being newly homeschooled at the time so I'm still holding onto Epsilon for now.:tongue_smilie:
  5. This is my ds11 first time being homeschooled this year (6th grade) and at first, we had a very rough start when we began in August. But now we are in a semi comfortable routine and I have pretty much all the materials for all the subjects I wanted him to cover this year. Fortunately for me, the HS laws where I live are pretty lax. :001_smile:
  6. I'm glad someone asked this question. I was wondering about this too since I plan to use the supplies with 2+ kids. Now waiting on my supplies in the mail. The only thing I didn't get was the molding clay, I was thinking of skipping that section.:001_unsure:
  7. I use MEP Reception with my 5 yo. In fact he is almost done with it. I don't have much exposure to other math curricula other than MUS so I can't compare to what you are using. However we like MEP here and I break out the math manipulatives sometimes when I feel he needs it for a lesson that day.
  8. I'm glad I stumbled across this thread. My ds doesn't even have the game and he takes about it incessantly as well. (He plays whenever he can get his hands on his friends ipod in school.) :tongue_smilie:
  9. I have a friend who is homeschooling her 2 DD and she is from Russia. Despite her difficulty in speaking English well, she still manages to homeschool. I can't say what she is doing exactly to help but I imagine the curriculum she uses and her desire to homeschool her daughters allows them to thrive. The benefit she sees is that she is learning English along with them too. So don't allow your limited use of English to hold you back. I'm sure there is a lot of great programs out there that will make it easy for you to teach. :001_smile:
  10. LLATL levels take you all the way to high school. My DS 11 is currently in the Tan Book. I do have the blue set (1st gr.) and it is for those not reading yet.
  11. It's comforting to know I'm not the only one obsessed with curricula and in wanting to try them all. Like many others here I'm trying to find a balance in what we could realistically do in our schedules. I am enjoying the feed back others have shared here as to what they are doing.
  12. Just started using PAL program as well from IEW and it appears to be working well with my DS 5. Granted we didn't try many other programs prior but this one seems to stick better with him and he easily remembers the letters and sounds.
  13. I agree with everyone else so far! If you're able to handle HS both at the same time, then go for it especially if pressure from their friends will make it increasingly difficult the longer you wait. Or take one of them out first and spend some time establishing a routine before pulling out the other. When my oldest started HSing for the first time this past Aug for 6th grade, the first few weeks were really difficult. My DS received pressure from friends at school and so he argued with me the first few weeks over placing him back in PS.(He's a lot better now) I knew I couldn't start HSing my DS10 and DS 11 at the same time since I am still a newbie. I would've went nuts! So I am hoping my DS 11 will be down in a HS routine so that by next year I can focus on my DS 10 when he starts HS for 6th grade since he will require a lot of my attention. By the way I also have a DS5 who I HS, so between him and his older brother, my brain is fried at the end of the day. I just wouldn't want you to suffer burn out. If you're heart has been in HS for a while now, then you are probably better equipped than I am to have both home at the same time.
