  1. Thank you all for your replies! I didn't get the u/s in but I'm hoping to go tomorrow or Saturday. My blood work was the best it has been in years!!!! Likely due to both my doubling the amount of iron I take and also due to pre-meno, my Aunt FLo has gone from 3 FULL BLOWN heavy days to 1 full blown heavy day, maybe 1.5 so I'm hoping, hoping I have built up some iron stores. Usually if I miss taking iron for more than a couple of days, I feel it. Decisions decisions decisions....... I keep thinking I should hang in there but menopause might be 5+ years away and I'm just so sick of this.
  2. I'm going to call Dr. K. today about science speakers and hopefully start making some phone calls. Zaccaro was approached last year about the conference but he wanted to be paid to attend (I forget the official term - honorarium???) whereas the other speakers didn't request that. I would love it if Dr. Nebel came and he will be the first person I call when I get the go-ahead from Dr. K. Obviously, I'm looking into more East coast people since it would be cheaper for them to travel to PA. Gail - That's a great idea to split up the list!
  3. Unfortunately, SWB is all booked up and won't be able to attend the conference. 8-(
  4. That's a great idea Gailmegan. Does anyone want to volunteer for that? I'm swamped this weekend.
  5. Registration last year was about $40. Royal Fireworks Press received NO, I mean NO, money from the registration fee. It all went to renting the space. This is NOT a religious conference. It is strictly academic in nature. Capt Uhura
  6. Misidawn - THANK YOU for the advice. I will make note of it for if/when the time comes.
  7. Pippen, that was my concern as well. Going into surgery with already being anemic. I'll get my blood test results today so I'll know more then.
  8. I'll be going for an u/s on Saturday. I'm leaning towards trying the ablation if there is a hope it might work. I have a race in June that I've been training for and with my cycles changing a few days each month, it looks like Aunt Flo is coinciding with my race. 8-( I know it's not that big of a deal but I'm racing with a team and we've all registered for this (Spartan Sprint) over 8months ago. Plus, I've reached a level in my fitness where I just am not progressing. The Dr said it's likely my body has reached it's limits given my previous blood results. She's shocked that I can do P90X, Insanity programs and run 25-27min 5Ks with all my bleeding. My fitness is my business, I'm a Team Beachbody Coach, so this is affecting my life in added ways now. And she said w/out my uterus, I'd have a flat stomach, but I'm trying not to let vanity make the decision for me....but it sure would be nice not to look 15-16 weeks pregnant for 5years. :glare:
  9. when I was pregnant with my first son, the perinatologist mentioned adenomyosis to me. I no longer have any well-circumscribed fibroids rather my entire uterus has a granular appearance. So either it's adenomyosis or I have so many fibroids, they've all fused together.
  10. Yes, we're considering an ablation my uterus is on the edge of having any hope of it working due to it's large size. But perhaps it's worth a shot. I was considering the Mirena IUD. That worked well for my friend but I'm nervous about hormones.
  11. Oh MY!!!!! I have the exact same allergy! I found out with my first c-section. The itching was INSANE! And my perinat didn't want me to take anything for the itching b/c my son was 35weeks, under 5lbs and I was nursing. Oh what a week that was.
  12. WHEW! Thanks guys! I"ve been busy all day w/ multiple doctor's visits and soccer. I will look into the recommendations for math. re: DORMS. Yes uh well, that's an experience best forgotten. There are nice dorms on campus so we are trying to see if we can get into those!!!!! If you have links to other HSing sites I should post at, please post the links here.
  13. Hello Hive, I am considering a hysterectomy. I have excessive bleeding, leaving me chronically anemic which really affects my quality of life. My uterus is about 15-16weeks pregnancy size. I'm 45yrs old and am done having kids. If you've had a hysterectomy (leaving cervix and ovaries), what was your experience? What was the recovery like? Since I've had 3 c-sections, she said we can just go through the c-section scar. Thanks! Capt Uhura
  14. I did post pics somewhere here lol. I'll see if I can find them.
  15. Hello Hive, Dr. Kemnitz, of Royal Fireworks Press, publisher of Michael Clay Thompson Language Arts program, would like to see if there is interest in another weekend conference in Valley Forge Christian College in PA, July 5th-7th. Please vote in the poll below. Speakers would be MCT of course, Sheila Gallagher, Laurel Dodge, a name I just forgot speaking on ethics, possibly Dr. Dave (science). Unfortunately, I don't think SWB will be able to make it but I'm going to beg :001_smile: It would be also great to have a math speaker so if you have a recommendation for someone, let me know. This is a very intimate conference! Last year we had about 100 attendees. We got to sit and eat lunch w/ SWB and MCT and actually converse with them. I'm sure they were worn out by the end. In addition, all of the attendees, mostly from WTM, got to sit and talk and chat and laugh with each other for three days! It was absolutely wonderful! Editing to add that SWB will not be able to make it to the conference. 8-( Capt Uhura
  16. The new math books for grade 3 from Art of Problem Solving/Beast Academy are now available! http://www.artofproblemsolving.com/Store/beastacademy.php Capt Uhura
  17. Thank you Ruth for a wonderful thread!!!! I definitely see that we are on similar paths. WOW I"m so glad I got Horner's book before it went up like the price of gold! WOW! I think I paid $4 for it and that included shipping.
  18. I've had a very, very, very difficult time w/ my 6th grade son. He got exponentially worse. I"ve been at my wits end. I learned today that he has Lyme's disease. That explains a lot of things. His slowness, mental fatigue etc. I hope the antibiotics will kick this and I will have my son back. He wasn't speedy before but I swear he has been worse than a snail the past 4-5months.
  19. I don't quite understand all the processing speed stuff either. Maybe it's time for another eval. My son's processing speed was above avg, but a large gap between that and his IQ. His working memory was fine.
  20. Brownie - I am of no help to you. My kid has gotten SLOWER. I kid you not. I don't know if it's pre-puberty phase or what but some days his brain is just gone. He's tired every day. He says he doesn't sleep well. He wakes up on his own at 7am but his brain isn't awake until about 10:30am. The year has been frustrating. Everything, especially AoPS pre-alg, takes 4x as long as I think it should take. I've tried timers and that had moderate success. One day he was shocked to find he had been sitting there for 45min and had done next to nothing. He honestly felt like he had been sitting there for about 10min. I've also had him estimate how long a task would take - more often than note, he finished it in half the time. So some time I think he thinks whatever it is, is going to take forever so it makes him dawdle. I tried setting the timer for a set timer and when it goes off we move on to the next thing. That worked somewhat. Maybe I need to go back to that. It did motivate him to try and beat the timer.
  21. I don't think there are pages for book 3. I've never seen them used. You can check the K12.com site and see what it says in the class description - whether or not there are student pages.
  22. You MUST MUST post that to MCT at the MCt messageboard. He would so love to read that! Absolutely wonderful!
  23. My passion is exercising. It makes me feel great. I enjoy doing it. I love having a functional body. :001_smile: I've seen a myriad of health issues evaporate once I started exercising regularly and eating healthier. I love sharing all of this with people so I became a Team Beachbody Coach. It is struggle to find enough time to support others, learn about this business and homeschool two kids full time and a preKer. I thought I had no free time before - now I must be in negative numbers for free time. I'm actually using free time from the future.
  24. I love weightlifting also! I did it for years when I was in grad school in my 30s. I'm now in my 40s and have started back w/ P90x and now P90X2. Having muscle really helps to burn calories and I like that I don't have to ask Dh to heavy work for me. And when he hurt is back, I really had to step up w/ doing the heavy duty work so having muscle came in handy. :001_smile: And I need something to burn the calories from those chocolate chip cookies I like to eat. Capt_Uhura
