  1. It seems odd to me. Our dentist office does attempt to reschedule but they usually call about a month after you cancel. And just once. If no answer they'll call again next month. (They don't currently have an online appointment system.)
  2. We don't have big feet--now--but we seem to grow feet first and then our height catches up. Ds1 is 6'2" and wears 11; ds2 is 6'4" and also wears 11. Dd is only 12yo and at 5'5" is already in a 9. She's projected to be 5'8"-9". Dh and I suspect she might be at least as tall as me. I don't remember when my feet stopped growing but I (5'10") wore a 9 for years until after my first pregnancy; now I wear 10.
  3. The dc still living at home don't care for teriyaki flavors so for stir fry I use the sesame chicken sauce from Budget Bytes. I double most of the ingredients except the cornstarch and ginger (dc don't like ginger). I also omit the sesame seeds. I don't follow her directions for the chicken prep--I just do my regular stir-fry with chicken and lots of veggies.
  4. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:
  5. We don't, but I have a friend who decided years ago that Sunday is her day off from cooking so they eat cereal and popcorn.
  6. Ugh, I feel you. I'm still getting over it. Did bright it home from school but was over it in a couple of days. Took me over a week and then another week of being hoarse and snotty. It's been nearly 3 weeks now and the congestion and cough are better but still there. 😒 (((hugs))) Hope you feel better soon!
  7. It's really disorienting when you go into a CB that's reversed. You know, like when the restaurant part is on the right side of the entrance instead of the left. Or is it the other way around? Everything's still in its proper place, just mirror image from what you're used to.
  8. Years ago I sent a care package to a military friend deployed overseas. I made rice krispy treats and brownies--which he appreciated--but what he appreciated even more was that each was wrapped individually in plastic wrap. He was a mechanic and liked being able to grab/eat a treat by holding onto the wrapper and not worry about getting grease on it. You could use sandwich bags in place of wrap. Just throwing this out there as something to consider. As to easy treats, I agree with the suggestion for blondies or unfrosted brownies as you can bake a whole batch at once vs scooping cookie dough and baking it a pan or two at a time.
  9. Cracker Barrel. We only eat there on road trips; it's become a family tradition.
  10. All beef hotdogs with mustard (always) and sweet relish (mostly always) and onions (about half the time). Occasionally we'll have them as chili dogs--then I wouldn't add mustard or relish, just cheese, onions, and maybe sauerkraut if we happen to have any (which is rarely).
  11. Interestingly, we saw way more fireflies when we lived in northern KY than we do here in GA. And we were/are in the suburbs in both states.
  12. My local JCP is a free-standing store and has been pretty busy every time I've been there. It has a Sephora that you can sometimes smell before you even enter the store. The checkout line is all at the front; no individual department registers like the old days. The store is pretty tidy but not a lot of staff. We occasionally shop there for men's clothes for dh and ds but have better luck finding women's and juniors things at Kohls.
  13. I don't even know who these people are.
  14. Me too. I occasionally mention to dh that when ds2 moves out we should move into a small townhouse or even just a smaller house. He thinks we need more house and a lot more property--he wants what you have with the acreage and large garage units. He grew up in the country and longs for the wide spaces. I grew up in the city, with six of us in a small townhouse.
  15. I'm currently auditioning Corelle and the plain white Threshold from Target. So far with the Corelle, I've just bought bowls and salad plates--which we generally use as dinner plates--on clearance from Kroger. I really like how they fit in my dishwasher. My other bowls take up a little more space so I can fit fewer of those in. I also like the open stock Threshold plates from Target. They're a bit heavier and so far I only have 6 dessert plates, but I like the look and feel of them.
  16. My mom was just telling me today that her hair is coming in curly these days. She's post-menopausal and was telling how her hair has been changing since menopause. It had always been straight before. I'm wondering if that will happen to me as well.
  17. This thread is hilarious! And I vote ugly.
  18. First big road trip was when dh and I moved from upstate NY to MS in our Ford Escort hatchback which carried everything we owned. We were clever enough to hit DC at rush hour. So there we were, crawling along in traffic, and it was soooo hot and our little car had no a/c. It had no nothing--couldn't even recline the seats. lol. So we had our windows rolled down to get *some* air. Then it started to rain. We laughed ourselves silly trying to decide if it was better to roll the windows up and be hot but dry or roll them down and be a little cooler but wet. I think we split the difference and rolled them partway down. :001_rolleyes:
  19. Seconding When You Reach Me for the Wrinkle in Time tie-in. I think it spans nearly a whole school year, though.
  20. I voted strawberry but my all-time favorite is guava.
  21. Here's mine. I can't do this--visit you--because I hate driving on your side of town. Whyyy did you move? There. Thanks for letting me get that out.
  22. If it's firm enough to be served warm I'd wonder if it was overcooked. Cheesecake should have a little wobble to the middle until it's cooled and chilled. I've never had warm cheesecake but have cooked many over the years, always served chilled. I've not heard of eating it warm.
