  1. I ordered HAS 3rd grade today for my DS from CB.com (as was less than the sale price on HAS site). Anyway, I tried to get the supply list from the link provided but it just took me to another website to purchase the supplies which came to over $119.00. WOW!!! :glare: Anyway, I just have 1 kiddo and that is not within my budget just for art supplies. Does anyone have a listing of the 3rd grade art supplies? I am hoping I can hit Michaels and JoAnn's with coupons and my homeschool discount to save a little more money. :thumbup1: Thanks in advance!
  2. DH was trying to decide between the iPad2 or 3. We found a great deal on the Apple refurb site for the 2 with 64gb for 399.00. Wi-Fi only because he can use his phone as a hot spot if needed and is typically in range of Wi-Fi connection. He's been very happy with the choice to go with the 2. Also, we have purchased refurb products from Apple before and they have all been great, plus they come with the same warranty as the new ones.
  3. Thanks -- I feel much better knowing I am not all by myself in this thinking. I guess I should spend more time on this forum and less with my local homeschool friends.
  4. My DS loved Soaring with Spelling last year. It is a very nice booklet that is spiral bound at the top. Not too much work per day and he didn't mind doing the work. He could even do it on his own. The cost is very low and the quality is good. Just basic spelling and vocabulary. We're planning to use it for this 3rd grade year too.
  5. I have found my people too!! My homeschool friends all have these extensive lesson plans and I just open the book and do what it tells me to do, have my son complete the next math lesson and so forth. I do plan for field trips and place books on hold at the library for up-coming lessons but that is about the extent of it. DH laughs because I plan everything else in our life but not homeschooling. I remind him that one of the reasons we homeschool is for flexibility and freedom!! AAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!:grouphug:
  6. I must admit that I do not make lesson plans. Last year was my first year homeschooling my 2nd grader. I have looked at online planners, paper planners and do-it-yourself planners -- and I just don't see the need. In our state, we don't need to have lesson plans. Last year, I followed the suggested syllabus from our core program and then wrote down in a planner what was completed. I documented what we did in math, science, etc and even kept a reading journal. Documented field trips, experiments, sick days, etc... Is it really necessary to have a lesson plan if it is pretty much laid out for you? I have other friends that swear by the lesson plan but I am thinking maybe I am missing something since I just follow what is already in front of me. I figure documenting what was completed is much better than what we planned to do. Just wondering what others think... I personally think the only right way is to do what works for you.
  7. Thank you so much!! There were so many that my eyes started to cross!! LOL I liked all the books, just wanted to make sure I knew how to incorporate them.
  8. I am planning to use MFW ECC with my 3rd grade son. My dear friend loaned me the leader guide and many of the books and I went out and pieced together the remainder of the basic and deluxe books. She is away on vacation so I can't ask her this question so I thought I would pose to the veteran users out there. I was wondering if MFW includes the Deluxe items in their agenda layout. I see the basic items mentioned along with page numbers but as I have looked at the first couple of weeks and I don't see (or maybe missed) the deluxe items mentioned. If they don't include them in the agenda, then when do we know when to include them? Sorry if this is basic question but I am new to MFW and I want to make the most out the plan.
  9. I have been emailing them since early last week and no one has responded to me with my questions and issues. At this point, I am ready to cancel but again no one will respond to my emails. Any suggestions for other online planners??
  10. Check Christianbooks.com...I saw it listed on their site today and they sometimes have free shipping with min purchase.
  11. I purchased it as well not really thinking it would be this rough. I have emailed them repeatedly since last week and no response. In the past, BETA testing was a free trail period. I echo the sentiments of another poster that stated, there should be a free trial period. I have now shelled out $40 for something I tested, found lacking and now they get to keep $4 of my money (if they ever respond to my cancel request). Doesn't seem right somehow... May look it at it down the road when it is up and running and pay the extra money. But, it will have to wait until next year because I need it ready now. Kudos to all that are sticking in there!!
