  1. Not on my laptop but I've had problems on my iPad for weeks.
  2. Reading this thread I realised that I found out about oral s*x at ten or just before. We moved the summer when I was 10 so I KNOW that I knew about it before because I know who told me. There was a joke doing the rounds around my mixed aged group of friends (we lived in a cul-de-sac and all the kids aged in the same 6 year span hung out at times I was in the middle so there were kids about 3 years older and 3 years younger than me). The joke was about a girl wanting to pleasure her boyfriend and her friend telling her to think of a Japanese motorcycle (susuki) but when it came to doing the deed she got them mixed up and said kawasaki instead. I don't remember having any reaction other than "ouch that has GOT to hurt" and I don't have boy parts  :p I also can't remember any BIG conversations more that it came as and when. But then my sister was born when I was four and a half so I probably got the "where babies come from" talk around that time.
  3. For me the analysis we did of it brought out the richness and allowed me to see deeper. Take for example the Shakespeare connections that have been discussed. This was a connection I hadn't made on my own, but that added a layer when we analysed.
  4. This seems to be the place to discuss this. Why do you put the screws to the front of the oven on inside but then don't anchor the piece that is facing down when the door is opened? Why yes I destroyed my oven door today. Stupid design.
  5. There is one more book in the series now The Shameless Hour. It is Bella's book. There is also at least one more book being written :)
  6. Brave New World was my favourite book from my high school reading list. I loved it. For me it really opened my eyes to other ways of looking at literature and reading. I think this book was where I understood HOW and WHY literary analysis was important. It also made me look at my own world and my own values in a new way. My list of books read in the second half of the year: 60. Kiss Me by Susan Mallery 61. The Last Thing He Needs by J. H. Knight 62. In Front of God and Everyone by Nealy Wagner 63. Everything He Needs by J. H. Knight 64. It's Never Over by Nealy Wagner 65. HIM by Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy (review will be up on the blog on Monday) 66. Radio Silence by Alyssa Cole 67. Finding Their Way by A. M. Arthur 68. Signal Boost by Alyssa Cole 69. Focus on Me by Megan Ericksson This is moving week for me, most of my stuff is packed so I will have some reading time. I want to try and read some of the non-e-books I have not packed yet since the dead kindle issue and I don't really like reading on the iPad (glare). But I there are two books due out this week that I have pre-ordered (plus HIM which I have already read an ARC copy of). On Tuesday the next Fool's Gold book Thrill Me by Susan Mallery is out, and on Wednesday Curve Ball by Sloan Jones is coming out. So that is what my reading week looks like.
  7. I listen to my audiobooks on my iPhone (yes I have WAY to may electronics why do you ask) so that isn't a problem. My dad needed a new kindle as well so he ordered refurbished PW for us today. They wouldn't ship here but we had them shipped to my aunt and she'll ship them on to us.
  8. Toms. My sister and I were once again gushing over our love for our Toms today Otherwise Clarks are very comfy too
  9. Yeah it looks like a Paperwhite is the best option for me. Although it is pricier than the basic model it is still within my reach (I'll have to prioritize it over other "fun" stuff). I really want to have a kindle since I will have a commute for the new job and I don't want to tote my iPad every day on the trolley.
  10. At first I thought you might have gone to uni with me but then I saw nursing. I had an instructor in one of my advanced classes who had written the text book. Her "lectures" were actually her reading from the set text. It was a disaster of a class and the only one of all my uni courses I wished I hadn't taken.
  11. No I am choosing between the Paperwhite and the $79 one. The dead one was a 3rd gen Keyboard. I don't need the fire as I have an iPad air. I want the Kindle just for reading. When I am on the iPad I tend to get distracted by the shiny (aka fb, pintrest, the board etc.). I like the kindle because of the non glare. It sounds like the paperwhite with ads is the way to go.
  12. See the Voyage is a bit spency for me right now. Do you ladies have one with the adds or without?
  13. I'm seriously considering getting one. I want mine on my foot though, for a variety of reasons. I will probably always be on a low level of anti-depressants and so it is important to me
  14. I'll have a seat with the mayo haters (anymore I'm allergic but I've ALWAYS* hated it) No signature scent as most scents give me head aches. *25 years ago I was 9
  15. It would have turned 9 at Christmas. I think I got a good run out of it. I think it might have been the longest I have had an electronic device. Now do I want a paperwhite or a regular for my next one?
  16. Nope. It is dead. Deceased. Gone to its maker. Not even the hard reset is working. Nor does a factory reset. https://youtu.be/Oj8RIEQH7zA
  17. Well if we are going there....my story isn't quite as stupid but it comes close. As a teenager I had a summer job in the reception of a company that made fans. One day I took a call from my uncle who worked in the R&D department asking me to ask my dad to pick up my cousin (my uncle was a single dad). I pressed him as to why and finally he admitted to having tried to take a piece of tape off a SPINNING fan. You know the kind of fans that have a protective covering so that you CANNOT stick your fingers into the rotating blades. This was almost 20years ago I still remind my uncle about why he is missing the top of his finger.
  18. Okay that makes me feel better. I'll try plugging it into my computer tomorrow to see if it updates then (it is wi-fi only). Thanks.
  19. MY KINDLE WON'T TURN ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *curls up in ball and cries* I've plugged it in to charge it and I am keeping all my fingers and toes crossed that it will be okay in the morning. Almost all my books are packed what will I do if my Kindle does not work????????!!!!!!!! Yes first world problem but......
  20. They are back! I've seen them in the shops here. Part of me wonders why. And part of me (the part of me that hates that sometimes I get a gap between my shirt and my trousers and my back gets cold) thinks it is a good idea. Usually the wondering why part wins out.
  21. A literary road trip map http://www.atlasobscura.com/articles/the-obsessively-detailed-map-of-american-literatures-most-epic-road-trips
  22. Those were some great first lines Kareni. I am always fascinated by famous first lines.
  23. What is it about comment sections that bring out the crazy?
