  1. i am actually in search of a series of audio books for my daughter. We are almost finished with a series of unfortunate events. She is almost 8 and she loves the dynamics of the children. i love that there is a constant vocabulary lesson entwined with good wit to the story. the children in the story are all smart in their own ways with a hunger for books. she wants something similar. i want something that continues to encourage her brain to explore new things. Any suggestions. we have also listened to the magic tree house, tale of despereaux , to name a few.
  2. seek and Find Bible is my favorite for the kids. I even use it to teach childrens church each sunday. it has a picture, summary story, reference passage, bible verse, comprehension questions and further reading. It has done a great job on hitting most of the bible stories that are age appropriate for the 3rd grade and under, I think my helpers have even learned a lot form it.
  3. I love this post. I thought we would have had a space that was in war with our dining habits. It was suppose to be and is still to be, but I realize know. I have no idea when. Glad not to be the only one in my plight.
  4. i love all of you that are big spenders. It makes me feel so much better. I have kids in 2nd, 1st and pre-k. I have probably spent about $700 and sadly $300 of it was on reading program that will not work for us and the company will not return it. my husband has plenty to say about the reoccurring amazon charges, so I think I have enough until november and then i will begin purchasing again. HAHAHA!
  5. Keep looking there are some really cool ones out there. and just making the lunch look as though care has been taken on it, will always make it look appealing.
  6. I am having a hard time finding content for the list of great men and women :bigear:
  7. I feel for you, i had just had rounds with another curriculum that decided any mailed products of hers was now considered used. and she does not take returns on used product. your not branded. just keep smiling.
  8. at one time it was free. But I somehow lost the e file. so I have to buy it, too.
  9. I am living in a house with 2 bedrooms and 4 kids, plus dh and myself. we use our tv the same way. at the moment, I have a 12 by 18 dining room that is also our classroom. for my personality, this is very difficult. My dining room is also the main hallway from one side of the house to another. we are about to add a third bedroom and have decided to make it a classroom for the next year. We haven't told the kids yet, but I think it will be ugly when they hear about it. good luck with figuring out how to work it out in your situation.
  10. Mine makes me cry almost daily. It is always soon it will get better from dh. but can I just say whaaaaaaaaaaawaawaa!
  11. sister, I am sending your prayer. My dad did this option, because it was their only option at the time. With a lot of sweat equity he got his loan and turned out fine. Be prepared, sometimes there is a lot of sweat equity required. Do all your negotiation up front.
  12. if it was already a struggle, this would definitely set me over the edge. I understand, I would have done the same thing. except, i would have followed it up with a letter to stay why I was leaving, if I was really fired up.
  13. we love Clara Pierson! we print them from the Gutenberg project Among the Forest People http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/34971 There is a complete collection of her books. we get a lot of our reading list from http://www.oldfashionededucation.com
  14. i loved this system and took it a step further for the daily lessons. https://docs.google.com/document/d/131oN29edgsr0KAiP_SEA0NbP0jryKzlFroXhp3CMVjI/edit The google doc, didn't keep it the same. But resize the format to be a 4 by 6 index cards. I have printed enough for the first quarter, this way I can put them in the folder for the week. I am not a real good planner style note book homeschool mom. I like the note cards, because they keep me focused on the week and not on filling a book. I can also have a view of up coming things. ~trish
  15. so cute, I never thought of doing a first day of school plan.
  16. at night. being pregnant with the kids about, it doesn't always happen. sometimes, I will take showers in the middle of the night when i get up for the midnight pee. this might be my favorite time. No one is up and it puts me right back to sleep.:001_smile:
  17. I pretend that it is and ignore that it isn't. haha! I have a girl help me catch up about once a week.
