  1. He loves science, but that usually requires someone to sit and read directions with him. Yes, we could not survive without a trampolene. :) I'm wondering more about independent learning activities he could do that aren't babyish.
  2. I came on just to search around for help regarding my son who will be...you guessed it...9 next week! So glad to be able to commiserate!:grouphug: Any tips on how to keep a NON-reading 9yo boy occupied independently while I juggle my other 4 kiddos?
  3. Thank you! I've looked at the HoaC ones- do you find that they are worth spending the money over the ones that are free? Well, I guess you do since you bought them! But, is there that much of a jump up in quality? Or is it a convenience factor? I guess either way I will be printing and prepping a lot before hand and then the kiddos can kind of run with it, right?
  4. those are the only ones I know of as well. vegsource used to be one. would love to know of others as well!
  5. OK, finally it worked!! So I guess just keep trying!
  6. Hmm...I tried from the email and it still didn't work! I'll contact them.
  7. Hi all, we'll be doing MOH Vol 1 with Veritas Press cards this year. I will have an 11yo girl and 9 and 7yo boys. My daughter loved History Pockets for US history, but I was wondering if there was anything else that you absolutely loved that is fairly open and go since I have an actively destructive 13 month old!:001_smile: I've never done lapbooking, but am definitely interested if it's something the kids can somewhat do on their own. Thanks, Trish
  8. I am able to open the Arrow sample, so it must be something specifically with the Wand sample.:glare:
  9. arrrgh...it won't open. Adobe says the file is damaged and can't be repaired. Is anyone else having a problem viewing the sample?
  10. lol, posted too soon. so glad there's a sample, b/c it's so hard to tell Exactly what it is by the description.
  11. I was just looking at this program and came over here to see if there were any reviews. I'm specifically interested in the Wand. I hate to start something new that doesn't have a lot of feedback from other parents. would you say the sample of the arrow would give a feel for how the wand would be? what compelled you to go with the wand for your younger? have you tried other reading instruction programs? I have tried 100EZ lessons, Rocket Phonics, Explode the Code, Bob books, Starfall, etc. and my almost 8yo son still cannot remember how to read the word "the." I was intrigued that the developer of the wand is a SP/Lang person as my son is in Speech therapy (since 4 yrs old).
  12. michael clay thompson. i heard about it here on the forums. cle sounds like it may be a good fit. best of luck choosing. i know it's hard when there's so much out there.
  13. I totally could've written your post!! enjoy the co-op- I think it may be more important for you than them. You need the emotional support, fellowship and comraderie (well, I do anyway, lol!)
  14. I just ordered it from CBD to teach a co-op class. I love the looks of it and the concept behind how/why it's set up! and it was only like $16! If you are not fluent you may want the DVDs- there is a sample clip on the website. I have taught K-2 and high school spanish, but this will be the first time w/3-6 graders. I'm excited to use SfC like a spine and then add in fun activities/games and especially songs. I love the Sarah Jordan bilingual CDs and I ordered a couple bible song cds from CBD.
