We are doing 1st grade work this year (started last week) - we went slowly through 1A (US Edition) last year (K year) after trying MUS and it completely flopping for us. So, mid-year, we switched and it took a bit of time for math to not be a fight (so we took a lot of breaks, did different things like money and time, etc.). So, we really only got through half of 1A US Edition. I've been reading so much about US edition vs Standard edition and I'm considering switching. I was checking out the scope and sequence of each (samples online) and 1A US compared to 1A Standard seem so different! I was thinking about just switching over when we did 1B (which, I've already purchased all needed in the US Edition, grrr), but now it looks like he would miss things covered in standard 1A? Should I just bag everything we've done and bought in US Editions and start all over with Standard 1A or just use what we have and start 2B Standard when we get there?
Other key points - he is my first of three kids, so I *might* have two other children following behind, using what he is using eventually. Who knows what curriculum will work best with them, but it's still a consideration. Also, he seems to really get math quickly, but for some reason there were already a few concepts in Singapore that we really had to work on to really get it. I wasn't sure if Standard Editions HIG had a different way of approaching or more things added in and would be beneficial since I've read that the HIG is better in Standards.
What would you do?
