  1. Eeep...I am a breastfeeding mama and I just checked out the ebook - are you speaking from me being overly hormonal ('cause I am, lol!) or b/c there are stories in there dealing with nursing? Need to know before I start reading it, lol!
  2. Nice analogy and you are right, it does sound like I am hopping and the 'grass is greener' :) I'm just trying to figure this kid out and what works best for him. MUS was CLEARLY not it (we both were bored to tears daily and it became a huge battle), so I went with Singapore in a pinch. I started doing a lot of Hive reading this summer trying to figure out what we were doing this coming year (going from a boxed curr to building a curr) and read up on US vs Standard. So, I figured if one truly was better than the other, then I might as well switch before we get too deeply involved in the year *and* in the curriculum. We are only halfway through 1A US from all last year, so... Thanks for the thoughts though - I did have to sit back and determine if it was a 'greener grass' scenario - I can certainly see myself getting caught up in that!
  3. We are doing 1st grade work this year (started last week) - we went slowly through 1A (US Edition) last year (K year) after trying MUS and it completely flopping for us. So, mid-year, we switched and it took a bit of time for math to not be a fight (so we took a lot of breaks, did different things like money and time, etc.). So, we really only got through half of 1A US Edition. I've been reading so much about US edition vs Standard edition and I'm considering switching. I was checking out the scope and sequence of each (samples online) and 1A US compared to 1A Standard seem so different! I was thinking about just switching over when we did 1B (which, I've already purchased all needed in the US Edition, grrr), but now it looks like he would miss things covered in standard 1A? Should I just bag everything we've done and bought in US Editions and start all over with Standard 1A or just use what we have and start 2B Standard when we get there? Other key points - he is my first of three kids, so I *might* have two other children following behind, using what he is using eventually. Who knows what curriculum will work best with them, but it's still a consideration. Also, he seems to really get math quickly, but for some reason there were already a few concepts in Singapore that we really had to work on to really get it. I wasn't sure if Standard Editions HIG had a different way of approaching or more things added in and would be beneficial since I've read that the HIG is better in Standards. What would you do?
  4. LOVE this list - we started MUS with my son last year and we absolutely couldn't bear it. He enjoys math and this was killing that. We switched to Singapore and it's been good ever since. I still own my MUS, having a hard time letting it go b/c SO MANY people say it's great. I'll try it again with my daughter when she's older, but I'm not looking forward to it. I do like the look of this list though.
  5. The link did not work, does anyone know of the ambleside online link? Would LOVE this!
  6. I *should* be starting today with my 6 year old, but I decided last week to change curriculum and now I am doing frantic "research" on what I want to use. I *almost* have it nailed down. I'm new to WTM forums, but have been homeschooling dc since he was 3 (and his 3 year old sister this past year).
