  1. Anyone here using Logic on a Kindle? What programs are available that are worth checking on?
  2. At this point I am trying to learn the options out there and get the moving to be ready for the next school year. Since I have been out for 2 years, I need to see what else is out there for my daughter. Sounds like a wonderful program and I would probably contemplate Writing courses for her as she loves writing.
  3. My oldest is going into 7th grade this coming school year. I have taken a break and used virtual school for the past 2 years, so I was able to get my youngest up to speed. I am getting her out of the virtual school and I am now planning for our curriculum. There are lots here that I have never heard before, so I have a lot of work ahead before I decide on anything. We have used Singapore up to now and have not yet investigate how it is for 7th grade. May consider changing it. I will need to get all the curriculum for her. An avid and faster reader, loves to write and does the work too fast. We do violin all year and next year I may enroll them in a science program near us, which is very resourceful and wonderful program. I saw something about CTY and that got me interested. Can anyone here share some experiences? Thank you. I will be reading all teh posts on this thread and get more familiar with the curriculum you are all using. Miriam
  4. Greetings, I took couple of years break from homeschooling and during that time my older used virtual public school. I am resuming homeschooling for the next school year and will also be teaching my 7yo. I want to ask what are you using for your 7th grader? I have the WTM book and I am compiling a list of materials and ideas so I can get ready well before school begins. Nonetheless I will appreciate any ideas you want to share. Thank you much. Be well Miriam
  5. Seasons Greetings, I am looking into getting a solid cursive curriculum for my 8yo dd. I teach her cursive, as this is what I have always used, but her handwriting is of very poor quality. She can write better, but is always in too much of a hurry. She loves to write compositions, short stories, and all, but sometimes it is hard to read. She understands and is willing to make the needed improveemnt. I see Getty-Dubai and other programs and want to ask yoru experience and suggestions. Thanks for any help. Be well Miriam
  6. Greetings, My dd is 8yo and is now much into writing small stories for just about anything. She will write stories for math calculations even! So, I figure that I need a good strong program to lead her into the writing. We use KISS grammar program, but I want more for her. I saw an online course, but it is a bit expensive. Anyone here have any program they have used that can give me a suggestion? I would like for her to take a course on it with a instructor other than me, as this would give her a new perspective. Thanks. Be well Miriam
  7. Wow, this list is very resourceful. I jsut took a look and this is going to be used over and over again. Thank you for posting. I was just searching for literature guides this morning, but none of the resources have a guide for the Wheel on the school. I found the lapbook in one of the resources, but my dd is totally not into that. I also found the ARBook have a quiz, but only offered to teachers in schools, not homeschoolers seems to me. Anyone knows of quizzes that we can administer to our children?
  8. My child is in 3rd grade, so perhaps the school would not allow me to do such a plan. I think my next option is to enroll her in a virtual school. While still at home, she will need to do the work for someone and I will be able to continue foreign languages, music, and our regular field trips. I appreciate all teh replies and help. Thank you so much.
  9. Greetings, I am considering verifying if my school district would allow my child to attend 1/2 day school. My daughter has never been to a school and it is becoming increasingly difficult for me to school her as her attitude towards work of any sort is rather lazy. I feel that if we continue this way our relationship will be compromised. With this in mind, I would prefer that she attend 1/2 day and I will continue with her music education at home. However, as I prepare to approach the district I want to be prepared to present my case and ask for this type of service. Does anyone here know this can be accomplished? What can you tell me about it? Thank you for your help. Take care Miriam
  10. Pardon me, but anyone here have ideas also for just teaching about money? games, ideas, curriculum??
  11. Great resources, thank you all. I like this PlayDoh economics and will read it more closely. I will also search for home economics type of thing. Use of money, etc. If anyone has more ideas, please share. Thanks again!
  12. Thank you for the suggestions. I will check both of them out and hope to find something that will work for us.
  13. Greetings, As my oldest child starting earning a bit money, I want to have an economics program of sorts going on with her. I am even considering teaching this for few more children too, as in a co-op type of setting. So, anyone here knows of a fun program for elementary children? I do work on my child with concepts for savings, and how to spend, but I want to have something more substantial. Thank you for your help. Have all a great week. Miriam
  14. Thank you for the replies. I think the literature guide is what I was looking for, more than worksheet. I totally agree that the last thing I want is to kill her joy of reading. We do talk about books she reads, but I want more specific, so I can have a bit more in depth view on her comprehension. If I have not read the book it makes a bit harder for me to have a discussion. Thanks for the suggestions, I will look into those.
  15. Greetings, We will soon enter our 3rd grade and I am in desperate need of some strong intepretation plana for my strong reader. She reads well, and fast but her interpretations is not always accurate or strong. Does anyone here have suggestions on worksheets or "tests" of sorts to go with a variety of books? Ideas and suggestions are welcome and much needed. Thank you. Miriam
