  1. Yes those are the ones. Thank you so much! I'm excited to start working with these.
  2. Hello, I had placed on hold purchase of vocabulary cards until we had available funds, but now that we can I cannot remeber the exact name and am having trouble locating the website. It was a box of 500 words I believe and it had a girl's name followed by "words" but I can't remeber girl's name. Does any have a clue that you could help me out with. thank you
  3. Use BFIAR and we loved it. Just to give you an idea, when reading the Carrot Seed, we read the book once each day for five days. Sometimes we read the book 2-3 times on the same depending on what the children wanted. We created a large measuring tape out of butcher paper in the shape of a carrot to measure heights. We planted our own carrots, both seeds and sprouted carrot tops and kept a picture journal. We made hummus and ate it with carrot sticks. We measure the lenghts of different carrots using both rulers, cubes, and bears and weighed them after children made guesses. And we did a color hunt searching for items around the house that were the same color as our carrot. Hope this helps a bit. Happy reading.
  4. Wow I was not sure discount was still active because of dates, but I just got mine. Thank you for sharing.
  5. Just got it. Read the manual and am still not certain where to start. I am glad to hear the videos clear it up. I'll start watching the first one immediately.
  6. Welcome Liliana. I am a newbie too. I have gotten some great tips from members here though and found curriculum I would have otherwise overlooked. You might want to post this in the curriculum board so you can get more answers. I just came on this summer and this is the first time I looked at board as I am trying to get my signarture up. Welcome once again.
  7. Thank you. Now I don't have to save everythin in favorites :)
  8. It is evident through her writing that she is a keen observer and meticulous writer. I would applaud her strengths and personally note to do more punction lessons with her at another time, modeling exactly how we puctuate and verbalizing the thought process.
  9. Finally, I can go get that chicken I always wanted for an indoor pet!
  10. Thank you for your explanation. You worded it so well that it seems simple now. I had been confused by thinking that "feel" could only function as a linking verb. If you ever do remember the speaker, please drop me a note to let me know his name. Totally funny , so clever.
  11. Can't go wrong adding a deck of uno cards. The one board game the whole family has enjoyed especially the teenagers and adults is imaginiff. Everyone begged to play this whenever we got together.
  12. Need help. Which would be grammatically correct? I feel good. or I feel well.
  13. Nicely done. Good meter in the first two lines. How long did it take him to complete?
  14. I cannot tell you how immensely grateful I am for this information. I was extremely frustrated trying to find either this info or sample lessons on their website to no avail. I wanted to take advantage of the sale but was unsure if the program would be a good fit with such little information until now. thank you for taking the time to post this. I just love this community.
  15. Alison, you're questions makes total sense. You do teach concepts and techniques as you do the projects, but I found that the focus was learning about art history by studying various artists and the concepts and techniques are incorportated as you go. For example, when studying Van Gogh the art concept is texture and for Monet the concept is color. So if you are looking for a program that has a scope and sequence based on techniques and concepts, this was not my experience with MTM. However, I feel that MTM does a wonderful job in teaching art concepts. Students are given plenty of practise opportunity in exploring the art concept taught before they are expected to replicate the artist. Here is a link to a sample of the student exploration part of the lesson from the MTM website. Hope this helped. http://www.meetthemasters.com/how-it-works/step2/
  16. Just ordered my copy at Amazon. Thank you for the recommendation.
  17. I used legos, wrote numbers and operation signs on them and then just played setting up different equations. Also used a plactic pencil case. I filled it with tiny manipulatives, a die, a set of numbers and operation signs, small pencil, and a small notebook. We would roll the die usually two times sometimes three, count out the manipulatives, match the number, add the operation signs, and then record the equation in the notebook. I would change the manipulatives to keep up interest. Some would just be stickers pasted on pieces of cardboard.
  18. I bought mine at Trader Joes and it has stayed solid throughout the year, but I always have the air conditioner on during the summer. I use it in the cashew milk drink from the Three Day Cleanse book to keep me from snacking at night. Recently I just found it on amazon and like the taste better.
  19. They are having a sale right now: 20% off student book, teacher notes, and two card games. With shipping and taxes still looking at about $50. I would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has used this before purchasing though. Thank you
  20. I should have read through all the pages before posting. Thank you so much for contacting amazon and saving us the hassle of returning.
  21. Maybe the weight is refering to each individual box. The product clearly says it is for a case.
  22. I just have to say that it is a headache trying to contact amazon. They bury the information extremely well. I had just spent that last twenty mins on their site locating the contact info to resolve an issue before I came across this thread. The information finally showed up after I put in a key word search for "amazon contact" in my accounts page. They resolved the issue promptly and to my satisfaction but it was frustrating finding the info to contact them. I have bookmarked that page on my computer for future reference to avoid another anger fest with my computer next time.
  23. Like others I understand the business point of view. Each individual's spending habits will determine if the fee for prime is cost effective or not. The minimum I have spent on an order was around eight dollars and my purchases tend to average within $10-$20. For me membership has been great and would gladly renew again in a heartbeat.
