Life after Calculus? Statistics: Curriculum/Classes
MOCA replied to MOCA's topic in High School and Self-Education Board
Thanks, Kareni. Was there any classroom sort of instruction online for this or would you classify it more as a teacher-led independent study? So appreciate your help! -
Life after Calculus? Statistics: Curriculum/Classes
MOCA replied to MOCA's topic in High School and Self-Education Board
This is so helpful! I didn't realize about the calc base for different stats courses. (I was just glad to get through the one I had years ago!) Great advice to check into the type of course most helpful for her intended degree. You probably saved her a useless course...many thanks! -
Life after Calculus? Statistics: Curriculum/Classes
MOCA replied to MOCA's topic in High School and Self-Education Board
I'll look into this--haven't come across it yet. Thanks! -
Any suggestions for covering mathematical statistics on the high school level? Or is there another math course you might suggest after Calculus? I'd love to find a resource that would teach, not just provide curriculum, if possible. I am familiar with the courses on Potter's School. Any other ideas? Thanks so much!:)

Thanks so much; I'll check this one out. Do you know anyone who has used the program before? -
Online Synchronous College Classes
MOCA replied to MOCA's topic in High School and Self-Education Board
Thanks for your reply! If I'm understanding correctly, these classes are asynchronous, so the students don't meet all together at a certain time for discussion and lecture. I'll have to double check Patrick Henry, though. Good idea! -
My rising senior dd would like to get a head start on college credits next year, while finishing her high school credits (hoping to count credits for both). She is interested in Christian colleges that might offer synchronous distance learning classes. So far, google has not been productive; would any of you have any suggestions? Thanks so much!:001_smile:

Research, articles to support not using a church nursery
MOCA posted a topic in K-8 Curriculum Board
Don't get me wrong...I'm glad church nurseries are there and I am happy for those who enjoy all the benefits from them. However, I'm looking for information to share with those who don't understand our choice as a family to worship together and not to leave a child screaming in the nursery for a couple of hours. I've used the nursery in the past...it just isn't right for this child. For those who just want to be critical, I let them do their thing. For those honestly trying to understand why it isn't right for some children or why doing church as a family is important for some families, I'd love to have worthy resources to share. Thanks! -
When you have thrown your back out and have

Get a wedge pillow and sleep with your upper body on the wedge part...in your own bed! Great for reflux, surgery recovery, etc. No fun to need sleep to heal but unable to get good, pain-free sleep. I hope you can find something that will work. -
Spin Off: Healing Holidays Away from Family
MOCA replied to Fourmother's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I hate when I feel guilty about not doing something that I already don't like doing and it doesn't matter to anyone else...a real conundrum of the soul! Working through the guilt as something that is false and thinking of replacing it with something that is real to everyone, including me, does bring me peace, though. :tongue_smilie:Btw, my mom always made a big dinner on Christmas, and didn't get to enjoy us or our gifts....all 3 kids wished she would have forgotten the food and enjoyed us...both then and now. The meal is actually one of our less favorite memories of the holiday. -
Who is it that said something like, "Comparison is the death of contentment?" That is so true---on line and IRL. We all tend to notice all the things that other people do right and all the things we do wrong...bad for the soul!

If I joined, I would be crazy (for me!). But unless you joined under duress, I imagine you want to do it and will do wonderfully. If you don't like it, you can always go back to spectator status:001_smile: or walking during their class time for exercise. I love finding ways to claim time that would otherwise be lost...moving the body and learning something new are awesome ways to do this!

Anyone...artists, photographers, digital scrapbookersl, graphic designers? Thanks!!
-
Any graphic tablet users out there? I'm looking for advice on which ones might be most suitable for digital scrapbooking and photo editing with a PC laptop. I generally do not sit at a desk so that might be a consideration, also. Any help is so appreciated!

I know it is an enormous headache and a time sacrifice---just wanted to thank you (and all WTM jurorers) for doing your civic duty and bringing an educated mind to the courtroom arena.

X-Post: Chalkdust Math, anyone use it?
MOCA replied to Soph the vet's topic in High School and Self-Education Board
We've used it for Pre-Alg through Pre Cal and find it rigorous for our purposes. My eldest scored well on the PSAT math with Chalkdust as a background. HTH's. Janet -
