  1. 1st edition or 2nd? 2nd Is this your first time or have you done 1st before? Did 1st edition with my now third grader. I'm liking the changes so far. Is mfw 1st your core or is your 1st doing the family circle with older sibs? I'm also doing ECC for my third grader When do you start or when did you? We'll start probably on Sept 1st or so. We've been bogged down with things around here and I am waiting for things to calm down some. What are some high lights / hits so far or what are you really enjoying? not applicable How long is it taking? Care to share your schedule? it took us about 1 1/2 to 2 hours last time but that was with only one kid in school and no babies. We will probably do the one on one things in the afternoon and the group things in the morning (is how I did K and 2nd last year and it worked for us as my now 1st grader takes a long while to get in the mindset of school) Any add ins or substitutions? I'm doing the math via easy peasy Anything not working or struggling with? not applicable
  2. I don't know where you're located, but we also do the Six Flags Read to Succeed program https://feedback.sixflags.com/rts/default.aspx (gives each reader a free ticket plus one adult/teacher ticket as well). They read all year long and in the summer time we get to go there where we couldn't afford to before. We also do the pizza hut program as well.
  3. I might do that! Oh lordy, I have the heebee jeebees just thinking about writing on them. I can't do that to a book. We did K and Adv last year and will be doing ECC and 1st this year.
  4. How do you store things? Do you keep everything for one year in a bag/box or put everything in bookshelves and hope you don't get rid of it accidentally? This is our first year in the cycle (last year The Kid did Adv). I know I won't need Adv when Ducky hits second grade but he will use some of the books that we used last year. I was keeping everything on bookshelves but realized recently that I accidentally/on purpose sold some of the items from the 1st grade when we moved and I was downsizing. I didn't even realize they were part of the curriculum until I went to pull out what I had to get ready to do 1st grade with Ducky Now I'm worried if I leave things on bookshelves they will get lost/sold when we move again next year. Since we are entering the five year cycle and will use these books for a long time I was thinking of maybe putting everything except the consumables in one backpack/box and labeling it. That would keep it all in one place but I was wondering if there was a better way to do it.
  5. Just think of the poor cart all alone in the walmart floor just hoping to go home with a great family. I mean, what if it turned evil for lack of someone buying it? All in all, you did the world a favor. It could've brought about the end of the world as we know it.
  6. With JackJack I took a picture of the test and changed the screensaver of his computer while he was at work. He came home and went upstairs to check on his email and came back questioning me because he thought I was joking. It took him a few minutes to get it through to his head. Of course, it was hard for him to get it since I had told him I didn't want to have any more kids with him EVER. Didn't know it at the time, but that was a few hours after I conceived:glare:
  7. I didn't even know left-handed scissors existed until a few years back. I just learned to use a regular scissor with my left hand and unless I'm cutting a bunch of paper I don't have a problem with it.
  8. Don't feed into it. Like pp have said, if your husband TRULY feels a need for a representative of your family to call his mom every day then he should be the one to do it. Maybe suggest that he calls YOUR mom daily and touch base with her; after all, it won't take but a couple minutes of his time and it will make her tremendously happy.
  9. This is an oldie but a goodie. I was at a store restroom with Ducky (who was at the time two) and he saw me use the bathroom. He exclaims really loud "mami, your penis fell in the potty! That's okay mami, we buy you a new one at the store.":lol: Did I mention it was a CROWDED bathroom and that everyone else heard him too?
  10. To the bolded, just look at all the British people jokes out there:glare: I really wish I had been able to fix my teeth when I was younger.
  11. Both DH and I needed braces growing up. DH ended up getting braces in his late 20's and I haven't (I met him with braces) because of the cost. I've always wished I'd had them when I was younger because I never like to show my smile and have tons of jaw pain. DH has said that if I want them we could pay for them but I have refused because I know that at least one of the boys so far will need them and I would rather spend that money on things for the boys.
  12. Jeans, kilt, towel, I don't mind what The Doctor wears as long as he's the tenth Doctor <now where's that drooling smiley?>
  13. Seeing as how Friday is ALREADY the weekend in my book, and Thursday is so close to Friday to be practically the weekend, AND today being almost over..yes, yes it is.
