  1. He'll be getting a bike. But I'll need to get him 3-4 other gifts (relatives send money). What are the best things you've gotten that occupy a...uh...spirited ;) 4 year old?
  2. I've found that simmering a pot of water with cinnamon, maybe some ground cloves, apple peel/core, and/or orange peel gets rid of the worst smells that linger.
  3. Another vote for piggies. They are great pets. We've had both hamsters and pigs, and the pigs are just more fun if you want a "social" animal.
  4. Um, on a good day, when I'm on the ball, I get them up at 8, so there is no time for anything besides getting everyone ready for the day (eating, brushing, de-stinking, dressing) before we start school at 9. If anyone is up early, they can watch PBS Kids.
  5. I don't think you're required to pay out of pocket for their mistake. If they want it back, they can pay the postage. If not, it's yours to do with as you wish.
  6. Dh & I have a debate going on. When teaching your child to read, do you teach them to pronounce "the" as "thee" or "thuh"? I'm just wondering who's crazy here :D.
  7. I wasn't offended, I was just trying to explain why I'm having a difficult time feeling 100% great about the change. But I'm committed to spending lots and lots of time on here figuring it out ;).
  8. Ds5 had his tonsils/adenoids out when he was 27 months old. I was with him while they sedated him and felt much better about it. I was able to comfort him while he fell asleep, and was also able to be with him as he woke up. He handled the anesthesia fine, but when he woke up he was freaked out because we had just listened to The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe (the Focus version) on a car trip about 2-3 days prior. His nurse was really tall, with really white hair, and was dressed all in white. He thought she was the White Witch . He also had conscious sedation twice over the summer for a Bone Marrow biopsy and aspiration. He thought that was quite fun...I think he enjoyed his "dreams".
  9. Why, I don't hate any of them. I view them all as a way to bless and serve my family. Nothing brings me more joy than putting laundry away, cleaning the toilets, and dusting . the above, was, well,...how shall I say this...sarcastic
  10. I think all of us, even those who miss the format of the old boards are trying to be positive. There are wonderful things about this format, but there is the "living room" feel that many of us are missing. Maybe that wasn't important to you but quite a few of us did enjoy that on the old boards. I think we all realise the old boards are gone, and that's why we're working so hard to have this format work for us.
  11. I use blogger, too. You don't have to have a gmail account to use it, but you do have to create a Google account :). It's easy to use, and I haven't had any problems with them, other than one self-inflicted problem that took me a bit to fix. But that was when I branched and was trying to do something and I had no idea what I was doing.
  12. They need to be short, so he can remember them. And he needs to "get" them, or he won't remember them. I need to stock him full of jokes, or he'll start ad libbing. That's not a good thing . So far the only one he likes is the "Why did the boy throw the clock out the window? So he could see time fly". Help?
  13. I buy a big pack of several colors in September, and they last all year. Some of the lesser used colors (like the pink one I use simply to torture my boys) last longer. I only buy Expo. The others dry up too quickly. I have tileboard, too, and use rubbing alcohol to clean it.
  14. LOL! I think I can say I've got nothing growing around here, especially since I found the Jalapeño slices that had...uh....turned last night .
  15. They were having trouble with us overwhelming the host, but according to Jedi Bob it's now fixed, so that problem should go away now.

  17. We'll be schooling, somehow. I only slept from 10:30-12:00, 12:30-2:15, and then again from 5:00-6:00 thanks to an ugly cough. It really seems my lungs don't like me anymore and really want out of my body . I've spent the morning getting ready for school, doing some morning chores, and catching up here. And drinking coffee. Maybe I'll get a nap .
  18. I'm stunned. At least Favre will probably be back next season (I think he would've retired if he won the SB). Hopefully they can get his young guys back and win it all next year. They outplayed us. Their defense was awesome. Plaxico was unstoppable. I hope they flatten the Patriots.
  19. I think I'm going to vomit. Oh, I hope we score. Go Pack!
  20. You were gone ? Just Kidding ;)! You had us all freaked out. Well, I don't know about all 800+ members there apparently are, but I know there were several of us who were worried. I'm glad you're on the road to recovery :D.
  21. I think this is what I miss, too. I'm sure we'll figure it out, though! :D And I read somewhere yesterday that Jedi Bob is working on the server is busy. We overwhelmed the host site, he's working on that or he said he'd switch hosts.
  22. Check out Family Fun's website. They've got some fun & easy cakes. :) http://familyfun.go.com/recipes/special/minisite2/cakes_and_cupcakes/
  23. Do we have the same MIL? Mine tried to feed us leftover lasagna that sat out for 2 days--in the summer, in WI, in a house with only a room AC! I passed on that one :p.
