  1. If you or your dh is 55+, those are wonderful communities where a person can socialize as much, or as little, as one wants.
  2. Maybe other animals are visiting it, scaring away the birds? Snakes come to mind.
  3. Ah, gotcha. I don't have much luck searching that way for some reason so I always just go through the orders pages. I hope you can find it! Maybe check old inbox emails for Costco purchase confirmations? That has worked for me before. Not always, but I have had luck doing that.
  4. I've never archived an item, either. What I'm talking about happens on the normal orders page. Let me see if I can explain it better. I went into my orders history to get the exact wording. When I go to my orders page, I see each order placed and the items in that order. Because I place lots of small orders of fewer than five items, most of those orders show each item purchased on that main page. Larger orders with many items show a maximum of four items and under the last item where "archive order" usually is, is a phrase saying "see all 7 items" (or all 4 other items, or all 83 other items-- however many items were in that particular order). It's easy to overlook if one is scrolling quickly looking for a thumbnail of a specific item previously purchased, but it's there. It is not archived. It's just that that particular order has too many items to show on the main page.
  5. I have always used an old bath towel. I just fold it in half and then the little extra couple of inches gets an extra fold at the back near the controls, otherwise, it will hang in the way of the door. When I feel it might be dusty, I just wash & dry it and put it back on.
  6. If you bought the item along with several other things, it's possible that the order list you see when scrolling won't show up. They only show three or four things on the orders history page and you have to click to see more if you bought, say five or six items. Scroll slowly through your orders during the time frame you think you bought it and see if any of the orders have a "other items" note at the bottom. If so, you had other items in that order that just aren't shown on that main page. Just click on "view this order" and your entire order will show up. Your missing item might be there. I've had this happen many, many times and it's frustrating when I'm just fast-scrolling for the photo of the item I'm looking for. **I might be wrong on the terms "other items" and "view this order", but it's easy to spot when you see it.
  7. We serve garlic roasted cauliflower. This is the recipe we use: https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/54675/roasted-garlic-cauliflower/
  8. I don't know if they messed with the quality, as they have certainly held up over the years, but they are most definitely different from the originals.
  9. I also have a nice Oneida cutlery set that's the same age as yours. About 15 years ago, I went to a local department store and bought more from their open stock pieces. They were pricey, even back then! If I am very disappointed in them. The additional pieces are very different from the originals, despite being the same pattern! The spoons are deeper and the fork tines are thinner, and they, too, sit "deeper" so they stick out like sore thumbs in the drawer as they don't lay/nest the same. They also have a strange shine to them, so we think they changed the mix of metal used to make them. Also, since the originals are older, they show more wear than the newer ones. After 15 years of use, the newer ones still look funny, even though they now show some age. I'm weird in that if it was a different set, it wouldn't bother me, but they are supposed to be all the same so I'm still annoyed 15 years later! If I could go back in time, I would simply find another set I like, maybe in the Oneida if you want to keep the same "quality", and just mix them. If company comes, I'd just make sure each person has a set that matches, but wouldn't care that all the sets are the same.
  10. There are actually a bunch of different places where one could freeze their credit. Cell phone companies, insurance companies, insurance companies, and others use different agencies. Isn't that a terrifying thought? The government's CFPB's website has a list of places and links that will take you to each place to place a freeze. Most people are OK doing just the big three, Innovis (probably the 4th one you're thinking about), and maybe their CLUE report. ( https://www.consumerfinance.gov/consumer-tools/credit-reports-and-scores/consumer-reporting-companies/companies-list/?topics=freeze-your-report).
  11. Another thought is to open an account with Credit Karma. They monitor two of the big three credit bureaus and are pretty quick to let you know if your credit has been checked (For hard pulls; I don't think they detect soft pulls) and again if an account involving a line of credit has been opened. I don't know of any way to monitor for fraudulent bank accounts, though, as bank accounts don't show up on credit reports. Edited to add: this obviously won't help you with accounts that have already been opened, but could help going forward.
  12. Our nextdoor area is very active with sales. The leads are quick to remove items from the general category, but some might not be as strict. Some items will show up in the general area, but will show they were posted to the "for sale" section. I guess it's to remind people to check there.
  13. I can't help with the accounts already opened, but most banks/credit unions use something called ChexSystems. They'll run someone's info through it to see if they've written bad checks, etc, and can deny an account based on what's in the ChexSystems file. It has been advised by experts to lock down your name with them as well as with the credit bureaus, so I'd do that to (hopefully) prevent more fraudulent accounts being opened. https://www.chexsystems.com/
  14. I'm sorry you're worried about your son. I have no experience with those issues, so hopefully someone with some advice will chime in. Have you looked on other forums like Reddit ( reddit.com ) or Mothering.com ( mothering.com )? Reddit has a parenting subforum so I would start there, and while I don't know anything about the mothering.com forum ~~ I found them after a quick search ~~ they seem to be pretty active so someone there might be able to help.
  15. Ladies, thank you all for your comments. I am nearly positive that I'll just have to deal with my public bathrooms/hotel 'thing' and pray that we don't pick up bedbugs along the way. Or, learn to love RVing. One or the other, I guess, as it sounds like car camping is the worst of the options (for me, for us). LOL. Again, thank you all!
  16. I don't know that I'd be able to manage the funnel thing. The one linked upthread looks like I'd have a steep learning curve to use. 🥴 I'm thinking Ill just have to make my own emergency potty and deal with the public restrooms thing. I carry the seat covers already, as well as waterless soap and baby wipes. And the Lysol wipes for hotels. And my own pillow. And a white noise machine, and and and. Sigh. Thanks for commenting! My parents talk fondly about their traveling days where they would just pull over and sleep in their car whenever they felt like it. I appreciate you posting.
  17. You are me. Or I am you. Whichever. I'd much prefer to find a spot and set things up than stay in an actual campground, but that isn't how it works. Great information, thanks! LOL @ Mark. Yeah. I'm seriously re-thinking the whole thing. Maybe a Class B is what we need, after all. Or not. Sigh.
  18. I can envision this. Thanks. I had considered the camp toilet as an emergency potty for when we hit areas with long stretches with nowhere to stop so it's good to hear from someone who has done this.
  19. Ooh. Thanks! OK. I can see how that would work. It's something to think about. Yeah, after I saw Faith's post, I looked on Amazon and yikes. However, it's less than 9 nights in a hotel, so I think it would pay for itself in short order. So, they don't need any electricity? It's like the bucket but has sealed containers and has additives for the solids? The one i glanced at on Amazon had comments/complaints about needing an electrical plug so I definitely need to read up on that more.
  20. That isn't even something I would have even considered and is very helpful. It's not so much the, uh, primitive part about campgrounds that bothers me, but the Other People Cooties thing. I dislike hotels for the same reason. LOL I was a generous sanitizer user & hand washer years before the pandemic made it a thing. I'll go investigate the link you shared. We had planned for several years on buying a small Class B RV but then the pandemic hit and people lost their ever-loving minds and campgrounds were super packed, so RVing kid of lost the appeal for us and we changed to a Point A to Point B thinking and just need to think about what to do for those trips where campgrounds are more numerous than hotels. Your post is helpful. Thanks.
  21. We are wanting to take really long road trips but are undecided on the travel method. RVs require so much maintenance and we would have to pay to store one. Not only that, but the increased fuel and insurance cost, driving a larger vehicle in unfamiliar territory, parking, etc, are drawbacks for us. So, we are wondering about doing some car camping instead. @Faith-manor, in a recent thread you mentioned a composting toilet and a solar shower for your minivan. I know nothing about those toilets. Can you just pull over and use it, or does it need to be out of the van and hooked up to something? Do you just pack your Sienna with camping gear & supplies and then unpack at the destination or did you turn the van into a kind of RV? I have all the questions. Anyone care to share the good, the bad, and the ugly of this type of travel along with tips and things you wished you had known before starting out? The two main requirements/stumbling blocks are some sort of portable toilet and shower. I don't do well with public ones, so campground facilities are out.
  22. I have used something called a "summer blanket" for years and years. It's woven cotton and I just love it. It's probably similar to what @prairiewindmomma has. It looks a lot like this one: https://www.amazon.com/100-Percent-Cotton-Twin-Blanket-Ivory/dp/B002KFYSBA/ref=sr_1_11?crid=2XIXPLJXIQVZJ&keywords=summer%2Bblanket&qid=1672435482&sprefix=summer%2Bblanket%2Caps%2C108&sr=8-11&th=1
  23. I'd also toss it just to be sure. Sorry for your loss.
  24. Thanks! I'll go take a peek (pun intended) at their site. I'm glad to hear eye exercises helped your ds. I've done some on and off over the years but never stuck with it. Guess I should look into that, too.
