  1. We are using this along with some books about the composers and have enjoyed them so far. :001_smile:
  2. :iagree:My ds LOVES the guide I wouldn't get the practice books without it.
  3. I've switched quite a bit since we started and spent a lot of money. :glare: Luckily I didn't buy a couple things I switched or already had them. Our biggest switches were Language Arts and Math. This is our final line up for 2012-2013: dd11, 6th/7th - MUS Pre-Algebra and Life of Fred Pre-Algebra 2 with Economics CLE Language Arts 7 Total Language Plus Focus Guides: The Door in the Wall and Island of Blue Dolphins and maybe another (1st semester) The Art of Poetry (2nd Semester) Apologia Who Am I? MP Famous Men of the Middle Ages & Modern Times supplemental books and notebooking Mapping the World by Art Creek Edge Press Chemistry/Great Scientist Task Cards (beefed up assignments), Milestones in Science & Chem 300 Experiment Kits Third Form Latin Meet the Masters Informal Composer Study and Clarinet Lessons Fallacy Detective ds8, 3rd- Beast Academy and Miquon Writing Tales 1 R&S Spelling 3 A Picture in Cursive TLP - From the Mixed up Files of Mrs. Basil E. I'll just keep repeating this to myself.. Anything I find I think will work better will be for next year. I can't be alone? :tongue_smilie: What have you switched? :bigear:
  4. :grouphug: Sorry! Dealing with the same thing with my 11yo. :glare:
  5. This is a great idea!! Thanks, we're going to try it. Thanks for your schedules.. I'm working on ours still.
  6. If your talking about All American History I can relate. It was so boring we just couldn't do it and dropped it. We actually were doing it alongside STOW but I wanted my then 5th grader (and 2nd grader) to have some American History. We ended up using MFW Adventures but it was only a supplement for my 5th grader so it wouldn't work for the ages of your kids. If I'm understanding it correctly it sounds like your other spines and supplemental books are plenty and I wouldn't worry about it. :001_smile:
  7. Sorry! It's Intermediate Language Lessons by Emma Serl.
  8. I'm really having a hard time finding a good schedule for us. I am not a morning person and would like not to start teaching until 9 but I don't think it's going to happen anymore. We've been trying different routines starting different subjects, etc but it doesn't seem to flow well and end feeling like I'm running around my house all day trying to teach everyone. :willy_nilly: :glare: I also have a 4 year who I'm trying to devote at least an hour of school activities and a 1 year old that I have to keep busy. Anyone schooling 4 kids that can share their schedule? :001_smile:
  9. I have never used LLATL so I have no idea if this would be to much or work well but what about ILL? I used it with my oldest and we both loved it. I'm actually thinking about using it again. You could easily do it 3 days a week and it will also cover some grammar, picture study and other skills. Another writing curriculum is Writing Strands, I've never used it though. You could also use spellingcity.com (with a list of his common misspelled words) and/or Scholastic Daily Word Ladders for some vocab. HTH! :)
  10. :grouphug: Sorry you're so stressed. If you feel it's the best option to put them in ps, do it. I've been told they review until Thanksgiving. They will not behind.
  11. I wouldn't worry at all about adding anything for your 1st grader. Both my 5th graders did typing and logic, last 5th grader also did MP Greek Alphabet book and she really enjoyed it! The writing & spelling components of LLATL for your 5th grader also does look a little light (sorry!) but overall I think it looks good. :001_smile:
  12. My 11yo is using MUS Pre-Algebra and we're supplementing with Hands on Equations and Life of Fred. Before I switched my 8yo to CLE Math he was using MUS along with Singapore CWP, Beast Academy and Life of Fred Elementary, it wasn't working for him and wasn't retaining much from MUS only the other programs.
  13. :iagree: Our school hours are from 7 to 4 but I'm teaching 5 kids with a baby also so we're taking breaks, switching everyone to different subjects/activities. Depending on how you'd like your day to go. Do you want the afternoon free? Do you want a more structured day? Do you need breaks from teaching? Do your kids need frequent breaks or often distracted? Just a few things to think about. We are also doing a 5 day school week but the 5th day (Friday: Co-op day) is totally different from our normal schedule.
  14. Not crazy! Well if it is I must be crazy.. We have 3 dogs, 3 cats, a turtle, a frog, 2 hamsters and a rabbit. :D
  15. I'm using it with my 9th grader who hasn't been exposed to much poetry and my older 6th grader who adores it. I plan on giving 1/2 credit as long as it takes at least 60 hours of class work total. If it doesn't add up to that I'll add some assignments over the summer or at the end of the year.
  16. :iagree:Sit and lid down in my house, before you flush.
  17. Out of your options I'd go with Sonlight but I wouldn't use Cores G/H in highschool without supplementing (Maybe SWB's books?). What about Core 100? That would probably be a better fit for those grades.
  18. My 11 year old has 4 pairs of jeans but is often wearing skirts, leggings or yoga pants.
  19. My 1st grader will be 7 in May. She's working at least a grade level ahead if not more but it doesn't matter, just use your states cut off date for anything based on grades. :001_smile:
