  1. I'm a club leader of what I consider a pretty active and productive club.

We let out kids choose from year to year on what we focus on....we have ended up doing some strange projects. This year the club voted on doing cake decorating.

Every year we do the entire requirements for one complete project year, including the record books (this helps first time families understand all the steps of completing a project). We meet 1x a month from Oct - May officially. We usually do 2 service projects and at least one field trip ....sometimes outside reg. Club days. We also usually have a fair planning BBQ in June and for the first time this year, we did a camp out in July (again something pushed through by the kids)

Each month during our club meeting, we spend about half the time on club business (using an agenda) and half the time on a scheduled activity (often from our chosen project). We meet for 90 minutes.

Sometimes we meet for a boadgame day.

We are a homeschooling club who has become very close in the last few years and we are active enough (county wide) that we have had no problem finding new members. I've been very blessed being one of the leaders.

  2. The expansion requires you to pull stuff out of the original game and replace it with expansion pieces. We love castle panic but seldom play the expansion because of the (albeit small) amount of time it takes to make the changes.

  3. I love reading biographies. I've ready 5 of them in the last 2 months. The one I liked best of those 5 was Gracie: A Love Story by George Burns. It's about their marriage and their career.

  4. Yes you can iron a suit jacket at home. Be aware of any pleats on it and watch that you don't distort the lining (mostly where it meets the outer shell of the jacket). Use a press cloth (or a flour cloth towel) between the iron and the fabric so it doesn't leave shines on the fabric. Make sure the heat setting is the right temp for the fabric type...not to hot.

  5. I'm another person who has burned up hand mixer after hand mixer year after year. I pretty much used a spoon or whisk manually on everything I did. On thanksgiving I would use my handmixer...to have it burn out in the middle of prep. There were many black Fridays when I was back out buying a new hand mixer. 2 years ago I got a kitchen aid...and I'm NEVER going back!!

  6. I feel you.  I have a difficult child (and I have a biblical counseling degree).  Last time we looked into counseling for him and us, I called a counselor that my husband and I had used in the past (before our children were school aged).  On the phone (before meeting my child), I informed him that we homeschool our children.  The counselor told me that homeschooling was teaching my son that school was something to be afraid of and he could hide from his fears. My son does NOT have any sort of anxiety...and wasn't displaying any sort of fear of school or hiding from people.  Needless to say, we didnt see him, and it has made me gun shy of who we use for a therapist.

  7. We live in an 1800 square foot house. its 900 upstairs 900 downstairs. I really like the layout. like others have mentioned it is a square. upstairs we have a small square Hall where the living room, the bathroom, 2 bedrooms, and the dining room are off of. the kitchen is behind the dining room and the stairs go down from the kitchen. downstairs we have the same sort of layout where the laundry room, bathroom, 2 bedrooms, and family room come off of the stair landing area. by not having any real hallways I feel like the space was used really well. Excuse the lack of capitalization I'm using talk to text on my cell phone

  8. I have to admit...I find it irritating when my (or any) kids interrupt my conversation with an adult (that they weren't invited into).  My almost 14yo daughter has become a hover-er.  She tries to read behind me when Im online.  She tries to plant herself next to me when one of my friends comes over.   Her contributions to conversations tend to be random suggestions (when she doesn't have all the information of what we are talking about) or she spends the time correcting me.

Me (talking to an adult): We went to the park like three days ago

Her: It was the 14th mom

Me: April, June, and I were taking a walk

Her: Dont your remember that May was there too?

She wouldnt stop doing it.  I corrected her privately a few times, then I started correcting her in front of the other person.  Still wouldnt stop.   About a month ago, I was talking to a few people and she did it again.  This time, my brother (who she loves and trusts) pulled her aside and told her she was being impolite (kindly).  She hasnt corrected me again since then.  But she still hovers.  I know she just wants to be included, but its irritating.

  9. I grew up in the Helena area. There is a Best Western, Super 8, Days Inn, and Fairfield Inn all in the area of the Capital (museums, ect) within a mile or so.   If you want to stay closer to the airport, there are also several hotels (Quality Inn, Wingate), plus lots of shopping in that area.  The town isn't huge by any means.  Taxi cabs are probably in the $7.50 range flat rate still (one way), so thats also an option.  There is also a truncated bus system that would be cheaper if you wanted to get around a bit.

Let me know if you have any specific questions.
