  1. The main idea to get across to the students is that they must reduce the system to equations with the same two variables. Novices sometimes eliminate one variable the first time and a different variable the second time....
  2. I have a solutions manual, if you want me to find it for you....Char
  3. Thank you for posting this, I needed some help with my curriculum. I am happy to see this!
  4. HI- We went to Prentice Hall Miller-Levine and LOVE <3 it!!!! Char
  5. We are going to Miller-Levine and covering it as Biology I and Biology II since they do transfer to college credit. We like it and the websites, teacher's guides, etc. Char:lurk5:
  6. With your advice, I did order the 2010 version and the teacher's packet for free. Thank you for your guidelines! Char
  7. I am considering the Core Edition of the Biology text/teacher edition with online access. Is there any downfalls or anything I need to know regarding this? I am planning to order the 2010 edition. Any suggestions are welcome! Thank you!
  8. We are ranchers from the state of SD-Char You need to see the Badlands Park with the Buffalo, eat frybread Indian Tacos at Cedar Pass Lodge in Interior, SD which is in the Badlands, and a ranch or 2.:001_smile:
  9. We started home-schooling last year. This year we start the ever-so-mind boggling/planning/trashing plans/starting over/transcripting, etc. Is there anyone out there with a 15 year old in 9th grade or other high schoolers, she just turned 15 on the Fourth of July, that she could communicate with via social network Facebook or email. It can get kind of lonely out here in the sticks-40 miles from the nearest tiny town in South Dakota. We are 2 a half hours from the beautiful Black Hills. She did do some snow boarding last year, she is a skilled rodeo photographer and we do rodeo. If anyone is interested PM me for her email or mine. Thanks, Char:001_wub:
  10. We plan to use this, as well! Awesome book......Char
  11. Absolutely, not often you find a class on such an important topic for FREE! Godspeed! Char :tongue_smilie:
  12. Just learned from a friend about a free (donations, welcome) internet site. This would be a great elective or government addition or class in its own.......... http://www.hillsdale.edu/constitution/week_01_overview.aspx This sounds so good, I think that it will work for us!:iagree:
  13. Please ignore my frustration. I spoke with a dad that has 4 graduated children...that helped.....:chillpill: Char
  14. Had dd14 at the time been in HS, she could have had child development on her transcript...maybe she should this year!!! She does so well and this is a real eye-opener for the responsibilities for a young person that has children of their own. We are his guardians, but she has learned so much from everything that you mentioned and it is a very Christian value. Thank you, Char:grouphug::iagree:
  15. My US history order came up missing. I would like to order The Americans, but unable to get their textbook since I do not have a teaching certificate merely a Bachelor of Science is all :glare:, so... Here is my dilemma-I like the Prentice Hall, with it's online features although enjoy the Christian viewpoints in the BJU. It looks to be a good text for the gist of the Vikings on (or is it Columbus, or was it the Native Americans or perhaps it was really aliens, :D My thoughts are to really study the books on what the US history books do not disclose to us, the Constitution and the big push to disintegrate that main document. Our founding fathers are probably turning over in their graves or looking on us as a bunch of fools without revolt.................... My purpose is this: What have you used and what have you used for resources before I spend a lot of money in the next few hours. PLEASE HELP! :banghead: Char
  16. Either you know something I don't or you have been realizing that I have burned the midnight oil. Somethings do not work with my child others I would love to try are so expensive and I do not believe we are going to use it, so, yes..... My signature tells our current curriculum, baring changes. Burning the midnight oil, Char
  17. It is July, yet all those schools are scrambling for students. I think you are okay and I feel for you--that sounds like a rip-off. We are going to make do with what we have that is college 4x4 and go from there. I know the lady- The Home Scholar-Lee Binz http://www.thehomescholar.com/gold-care.php has suggestions on transcripts and high school, she might be helpful in this regard. Especially, since the homeschool market has expanded exponentially-crazy! Luckily, this may be a simple stumbling stone to something better-best of luck! Char:chillpill:
  18. The lab dvd contains everything that the $99 upgrade to DLO contains? I won't want it for anything? Also, is the DLO dvds or online? Enough questions.:chillpill: Thanks, Char
  19. Thank you for that input, I am not entirely certain, that we arhttp://forums.welltrainedmind.com/newreply.php?do=newreply&noquote=1&p=4095261e ready for the whole schmole. I would thinking taking the exam immediately after the course would be the best. Developmentally and theoretically speaking, we aren't anywhere close to attack it at 9th grade and if we did. It would be a major focus and one I would spread out from early years to 1900s and there to modern time. Thank you for your time and I will certainly read more about it. We are planning US history 2 years, world history and then AM Gov & Econ the last year. Sincerely, Char
  20. Has anyone done the AP or high school courses through the Monterey Institute? They have a general US History I that covers 2 semesters and the AP History I that covers two semesters. When or what age would a child do the best with this type of course. Thanks, Char PS I remember years ago, when I was in HS that that course was one of the hardest there is, due to the memorization and the wide scale of topics/time.
  21. It is actually a $99 upgrade on a class that is over $300.....Char
  22. :grouphug: Heard through the grapevine that some of the content is hidden in teacher editions in BJU. We have already gone that route this year so will stick it out... I don't think I would hesitate calling someone at BJU and telling them as a teacher I am unable to find the content or the answer anywhere and find out what they say. That will be my plan if I work at it for a long time and unable to find what I need. Thanks for the input and yes, my daughter likes it so far and think it cool that it should tie in with AM and WORLD history! Good luck!
