  1. We just bought a 2 story and are looking to foster. So we need a gate at the top (and bottom) of the stairs. Any recs? (B/c we may not always have a foster child or a little one anything that we might be able to put on and off easily?) Anything affordable?
  2. Midwest - winters and summers. Heat and snow. Outside - no patio. Never seen this. Would you have any sort of link at all? So you leave cushions out over summer. Do they get icky? When I think of outdoor wrought iron I think of this. Is this similar to what you have? http://cincinnati.craigslist.org/for/3990786578.html
  3. Oh, we had a ROUGH day today w/ 8yo DS and I can relate. Rough days are not the exception. 2 books that have been recommended: http://www.amazon.com/Good-Angry-Exchanging-Frustration-Character/dp/0877880301/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1380683189&sr=8-1&keywords=good+and+angry http://www.amazon.com/Goodbye-Whining-Complaining-Attitudes-Your/dp/0877883548/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1380683440&sr=8-2&keywords=good+and+angry May I suggest you also become a woman of prayer?
  4. We've only owned a wooden bench and table. We think we may be ready for some new outdoor furniture. What will last/ not rust? Do you leave cushions or or take them off? Do you winterize? What else can you tell me? Thanks!
  5. B/c of numerous arm pit infections as a result of a genetic disorder I may no longer be able to shave my pits. So what are my other options? If I have them waxed... * Do you HAVE them waxed or do you do it YOURSELF? * Approx Cost? * How often? * Do I need to let hair grow out before waxing? * HOW MUCH DOES IT HURT? :(
  6. My hard drive is almost full. Sounds like when I buy Minecraft I actually download it? How much space does it require? (Don't want to get 1/2 way through downloading to find out I'm out of room. ) I know little about all of this. :)
  7. My son was able to save a decent enough amount of money that it's time to invest. How can he buy some mutual funds? (Meaning how/ where can you buy some shares w/o a bunch of fees or costs? Maybe someplace on line? It's not enough money to go to a broker - he'd be broke!) Anyone have any high growth recommendations or can advise me (him) on how to locate good ones? I have not ideas about this.
  8. Do they need to sleep or can they talk or something else? (Boys are 8 & 11) If they can talk or do something else is it until they fall asleep or for a certain length of time or....
  9. Change the babies "poop" diaper (which is actually mustard or whatever you need to use to make it look real) and start licking it. Disgusting!!!!
  10. Do you have a friend that would have space? Maybe you buy it, they store it and also get to use it or go 50/50 or something in between?
  11. When we bought the house we were told there was no easement. This would be the document that says we share the road, right? And then the maintenance agreement would say how we maintain. So if there is no easement it would prob. be in our best interest to have an attorney pull one together for us, right? Shouldn't be too tough.
  12. If you share a private drive w/ others... is there a legal document governing the drive? An easment? Are you financially responsible for maintenance of the whole thing or just up to your house? (Meaning if your the first house out of say 10 you would be responsible for like 10%)? We just bought a house w/ 5 houses sharing the drive. We were told they collect money every year to maintain the road, although this year they say it might be more $ b/c it requires more maintenance. There is no formal paperwork governing this. Don't think I like that and told we might have mortgage issues.
  13. We're moving and have a mudroom. I like to garden. Wondering if anyone has cute decorating ideas w/ old tools? (Yes, I know about pintrest. :) ) Things I can hang on the walls or use as a coat rack/ key rack, etc. Ideas are great, pics would be super! I have no old tools at this time, I'd have to start tracking some down, so all ideas are welcome. Thanks!
  14. We are looking for a new dining room set. Saw a pretty set of Craigslist - Sofa Express table and chairs. Does anyone remember what sort of quality/ price range Sofa Express was? The set is about 45 minutes away and didn't want to waste my time if it was going to be cheap stuff or overpriced for the quality. Thanks
  15. We're moving into a nice neighborhood where others are always looking at your lawn. :( We do have a backyard, but others will still be able to see this. What sort of a compost bin/ system do I set up? (right now we just have chicken wire. That's not going to work at the new place.) I know lots of folks that have plastic bins they have to physically turn, but never seem to have much luck w/ them. Also want something low cost and not too small. Thanks
  16. We're buying a new 2 story house. Upstairs bedroom windows are the kind that crank out. (So much brain fry can't even recall what those are called.) And they go out far! Far enough for little ones to climb out. Something you can either put on the window to prevent them from going out or a way to prevent the window from being opened too far? Thanks
  17. We are moving and just thinking about things that need to get done. Do you line your kitchen shelves w/ stuff from Contact Paper manufacturer or do you not line your shelves? Just curious. We moved into current house 16 years ago and lined them then - wondering if this is just what my mom taught me or what I should be doing or why. :)
  18. For the first day of school we didn't need school supplies. So I bought my kids poppers-those things w/ gun powder or seomthing that you throw on the ground and it makes a loud bang. Pretty cheap at Wal-Mart. Not sure where to find them now that it's not fireworks season. My kids LOVE these.
  19. Resurrecting this thread as I have the same question as the original poster. Just bought a house that had cats. I'm allergic to cats. Professional carpet cleaning will be done. Do I have the ducts cleaned? Had one HVAC person tell me it wasn't worth it. ANyone able to address this?
  20. For the boys buy a bucket of legos and divide it among the bags. Can include a lego seperator if you want. Like the idea of movie candy box.
  21. We are considering putting our house up for sale by owner by starting on a website. Need to have a good desc. of our home (or can do multiple desc. b/c of the way the site is designed.) BUT, I'm a terrible writer. Someone(s) please help put together a great/ selling desc of our home. Here are some facts.... 1.5 acres park like setting lots of perenniels organic garden pretty scenery 3 bedroom, 2 bath finished walk out basement large 3 season room for eating, hanging out (school :) ) and spending time convient to freeway and shopping same street as golf course Any ideas? Thanks!
  22. I stay up late .... SO.... I can stop my 7yo ds from finishing (not starting) his business... in the kitchen drawer... which is further away than the bathroom. What makes pulling out a drawer seem like raising a toilet lid? I've always stopped my kiddos before (drawer and kitchen garbage have been attempted)...not this time. So where do your sleepy kids like to pee? And for even more TMI.... We're always on him to drink more - even the doctor says he needs to drink more. Before bed he was excited b/c his pee was clear. Guess that explains tonight's urgency :)
  23. Oldest is getting ready to start Primary Mathematics 6 Standards Ed. this year. Just quickly flipped through the book. Haven't studied it yet. Did your kiddos use a calculator for any of this yet? Or not yet? We're planning on going w/ NEM for next year. When do they use a calculator and for what? Thinking ahead and wondering.
  24. Yup, those are it. Thanks Tap. Seeing as how we buy very few school supplies (darn oral work and mental math! :) ) thought this might be a fun little splurge. http://www.target.com/s?searchTerm=pip-squeaks+disguise&category=0%7CAll%7Cmatchallpartial%7Call+categories&lnk=snav_sbox_pip-squeaks+disguise
  25. Somewhere in an ad recently I saw Crayola Pip Squeak Markers where the markers were changeable or there were characters for them or something. Like you could have a Kung Fu Pip Squeak marker... or something like that? (If I dreamt this up who wants to invest w/ me?) Anyone know what I'm talking about or where to find it?
