  1. Is there anything more tedious than updating an address book? Zzzzz.

Yes, hunting for the right address when you need it.

I think the reindeers would get him home okay.

I always get at least one weirdo call, like an extreme low-ball from someone hundreds of miles away, or someone who seems to just want to come over and see if I'm worth robbing.

  4. A four day weekend. Whoo hoo hoo. I aim to scratch my cleaning itch.

Well, that too. I love days off for schooling. It is coming home to slog through a hour or two AFTER work that is the hard part!

  5. Oh no, another murder. At our sister hospital. Fear is tiptoeing behind me. It doesn't HAVE me yet, but I hear its tread.

They haven't released a name yet, but it was a patient. Murdered by another patient. After the last one I learned that murder like drowning, can be very silent.

  6. Almost time to go home from work - clearly not very busy....

How is work going? Mentally stimulating? A painless way to pass the time? Bamboo wedges burning under your fingernails?

  7. Today I got a scanned letter my brother wrote my father in fall of '69, from Vietnam, discussing how he was in a very dangerous situation. After talking to father about the details he mentioned something new to me: that most of his fellow draftees were high school dropouts, and that they were bloodthirsty. Eager to kill. I guess I am used to seeing that war either through the CBS evening news or via movies with sympathetic and intellectual protagonists.

Ahh, but what is aging but the breaking of myth after myth. (And I'm very sorry my brother never breathed a word of his experience to me, and how he's gone and I can't ask him.)
