Wow! What a Christmas morning. I think God was looking out for you guys too! Glad everything turned out.:001_smile:

Thanks everyone! He is not particularly sensitive. He has seen some movies with violence, even some R like -Gladiator, Braveheart -stuff like that- what I am most opposed to is occult type scary stuff like Chucky (I don’t watch that type so I cant think of anything more current) or the Saw movies. I agree every child is different. I think I will rent it and watch it first myself.

I just found several long threads...sorry I did not check first!

Of course fresh is better- but I do stock canned for emergency situations. I also like dried fruit better than canned. As far as the vitamin content and enzymes why not just stock a couple of bottles of multivitamin and plant enzymes with the cans. With all these bank closings you never know if the time might come that something (anything) to chew and swallow will be a blessing. Actually, even on a normal day, very little food has enzymes anyway unless it is raw organic. I personally take enzymes with every meal.

Yes keep trying! There is blessing in fellowship with other believers- even through it can be frustrating sometimes. My Pastor preached a good sermon on judging today- about the prodical sons brother - really made you think.... anyway about homechurch- I have never done it- but have thought about it. There are none in my area that I know of. But there is a blog I used to enjoy and she homeschurches and I believe has some links to more info about them. The blog is: http://www.xanga.com/connimom Praying you find Gods peace and His answer!

Anyone else having a gas-price scare tonight?
Meljoy replied to chanda7's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I am in South Alabama- I just had several calls (friends) saying gas is going up $1 to $1.50 overnight. This is all I can find on line. http://www.businessweek.com/bwdaily/dnflash/content/sep2008/db20080911_992796.htm?chan=top+news_top+news+index+-+temp_news+%2B+analysis I think I will go top my tank off just incase. -
I came off coffee using Yerba Mate. It is my favorite tea. I also enjoy Alvita teas- Red Clover is really good.

This is a great site that discusses what is Biblical. They say- Yes- it is OK- as long as DH & DW agree (or neither has a problem with it). http://themarriagebed.com/

It is hard- I have a married 22 YO and an 18 year old. I have tried to keep my 10YO young but he is determined to be a pre-teen and I see it bubbling up in him. At least DH and I appreciate the time -every minute -realizing it wont be like this forever! I watched a video of my 22 YO's 4th birthday party a few months ago and cried. If I could only shrink them back down for a few minutes of snuggling on the couch with a good book....It makes me want to tell parents of 2 Yo's who are having fits-to enjoy even this- it wont last! -
I am a conservative Christian. I am not a feminist. However, I do not feel that I am going to agree with Palin on 'every' issue out there -I still like her and support her as VP. Have you checked out - "Feminists for Life"? http://www.feministsforlife.org/ It doesn’t seem to be about just feminism, but about life. The more I hear about Palin the more I like. Where can I get the McCain/Palin avitar?

Well, not to be a kill-joy -but I hate mine. I have Kenmore HE -it takes an hour to wash a load, and my clothes are not any dryer than with a top loader, and at 14 mos old I am starting to have problem with the control board which according to my online search http://www.epinions.com/msg/sec_~forums/show_~threads/cat_id_~17/id_~6621/forum_id_~409/pp_~4 - is NOT uncommon. My advice a really research your brands before you buy one!:tongue_smilie:

OT: Your favorite clothing store??
Meljoy replied to Holly IN's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I love Coldwater Creek. They have good online sales (50% off everything) a couple of times a year - even their outlet stuff that is already discounted. -

Supplements for vegetarian teens.
Meljoy replied to Heather in the Kootenays's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Juice Plus is an excellent supplement -at the very least I would have her take a quality multi-vitamin. What about a protein shake for breakfast? -

Hi!:D I am Melody and have been homeschooling for 11 years now in South Alabama. I have three sons -22, 18, & 10. We have an eclectic approach to homeschooling -my main influences are Charlette Mason and Ruth Beechick. I am seeing the need (for me) to be a tad more structured in recent years though. I have what we are using in my sig. There are not many homeschoolers in our area so I love this board for support. :grouphug: Only DS 10 is left at home.- he is a joy and a pleasure - natured like his sweet dad- (after homeschooling two rascals natured like me!) DS is very bright, loves to draw, play the drums, guitar, and LOVES video games which I try to keep to a bare minimum. I have wonderful husband who is my best friend. I also have a cute grandson who will be 2 next week. I am studying to become a Doctor of Naturopathy and should graduate by the end of the year (I hope!) I love to study the Bible, read, sew, can, raise chickens and milk goats, am dreaming of building a cabin deep in the woods, and spend WAY too much time on the computer- though I am learning to stay away a bit! -

Are You a Low Income HSing Family? Come on in...:D
Meljoy replied to dawn of ns's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Can of soup? What can of soup? Don’t you know you can make it from scratch in bulk much cheaper???? :D We are much better now due to DH job change & the fact that I only have one left at home -but when we first started homeschooling? Those were the days. It was a real treat to get a can of coke (Walmart brand) for a quarter and split it. My older kids appreciated so much any little thing. I still try to save where I can- cook from scratch, very rarely eating out, hang close on line to dry, only run air occasionally, garden, ect. 'Opportunity Costs' -the only thing I remember from Macro Economics- The more I save the more I can spend on books! :001_smile: -
Can somebody explain the Gustav panic?
Meljoy replied to Rhonda in TX's topic in General Education Discussion Board
WOW! Well, I am glad I read all this because I am sure praying for those in LA, Miss & Texas. I hate that any of you might be facing this again. I live 175 miles inland of the coast (Al & Fla) and we still got hit pretty hard by Ivan. We had gusts around 120 MPH. The devastation was terrible. Trees down everywhere. It looked like a war zone. We were without power for 9 days and WO a phone (Internet) for over a month. (I realize this is NOTHING compared to what those in LA, Miss, & Tx went through) but- still it does make you shiver when one starts heading up the Gulf.
