  1. I have used Miquon for years and never knew of these:thumbup1:
  2. I tried the DVD:( Just couldn't get into it. Has anyone used Ecce Romani? I would like some thoughts on this.
  3. Do you care to ask him some tips and let us know? I'd appreciate it so much:)
  4. I wanted to deny it, but in all honesty my kids sing off tune. I've always loved music, sang in the church choir, played a few instruments and have always sung to the radio with them and sang them lullabies as babies. So where did I go wrong and can I get them singing on key? I'm not an expert at all. They like to sing and I notice they sing a few notes right on familiar songs only. My husband and all his family can't sing either. I'm not being mean, they know it:) So I'm willing and hopefully able and want to teach them. Is this possible to correct, even for my 10 and 12 year olds? How do I start? ( I can't remember learning as a kid, but I was in a gifted music class for 6 years) I'm clueless on the vocal teaching. Are there any good curriculums? Is there anything I can do for my baby and 3 year old now to help? I know it's an important time now. Thanks!!!!!
  5. Sorry-the link should be for nathhan.org It's called Straight Talk. We only used book one.
  6. I didn't have to read all the other replies, but I HIGHLY recommend a book from nathhan.org I bought and used with my son with these same issues as the original poster. He is now a very articulate speaker:) The book costs about $50 and was made for homeschoolers. Very easy for the teacher! Not hard for the student! There are rave reviews for it. Using it is SO much cheaper and less of a hassle than using the public school system. Pm me if you need to know more.
  7. Does anyone know of a list or link to where the books in the FIAR series have been put in chronological order? Thanks! I'm thinking of tying these in with our study of American history this year.
  8. Thanks for the suggestions y'all ! I'm glad I'm not the only one who has searched for a funner Latin course:)
  9. Thanks for this info! I'm going to check into both of these. They sound doable for us. BTW, I am in a town north of you also with much civil war heritage:). Never been to your town but would love to someday. We are actually studying the civil war right now!
  10. Me too!!! I have almost every phonics product!!!! I need to sell most of it!
  11. Ok, I know the benefits of learning Latin and want my kids to learn it. But I will be honest: i just don't want to teach it b/c I get all tongue tied trying to pronounce the words. I tried a few years back with MP Prima Latina. It was just too dry for me and I just was no good at Latin. I'm not against going with another MP product. I've also looked at Latin's Not So Tough. I've also wondered about MP's online Latin classes. My 7th grader is begging to do it! Plus I have younger kids I want to try the fun little Sing Song Latin with. So what do I do? If I could teach it/learn it with my ds inorder for him to learn and progress plus get my confidence up in teaching it to my next 5 that would be great. We will do it one way or another. But I'd like some feedback. Plus another question: do I need to look into them learning Greek at some point? Thanks!
  12. All my boys like Bone, but there is another series about mice Called Mice Guard. We all love it!
  13. Sorry I didn't answer. Yes, camping at Bay Springs Lake.
  14. Thanks to all your ideas. We shall have fun with these!
  15. Our bunch is going camping this week. I would love some fresh ideas for fun learning activities we can do free or almost free. Even yummy campfire recipes would be nice:) We have a camper with an a/c and will be right on a big lake with our 5 boys and baby. My dh will be gone at times to work so I want to use some of this time for learning. Thanks in advance!
  16. I totally agree. I'll add one of mine who is 5 is bored with the big wooden pieces! He just wants to skip to actually writing. I like their TM's. I like the chalkboard and little sponges too. The cd's are nice , but I never use them.
